Awesome Museum! Great ammenities, modern, large. The natural exhibits are awesome. Great place for a monthly family outing! Multiple areas around to eat and to be entertained. Bonus is easy access with loads of close parking.

Hours of learning, sensory experience & play. Very well appointed staff that were engaging and thoughtful, several taking their time to have conversations & bring more wonderment. Cafe had excellent healthy ranges of snacks. Adequate room and was clean after tables cleared away. Not too crowded - given it was also school holidays. Such a fabulous day spent as a family. Thank you. Thoroughly enjoyed & appreciate this wonderful experience.

so many fun things to do here! there are many interactive and educational exhibits to look at. the kids especially loved the animals and insects. would recommend this as a day trip as it is a large museum and takes awhile to get through (especially if your little ones want to have a play around).

The kids LOVE the museum and there's always something new to see and enjoy! the highlight (naturally) being the dinosaur exhibit for our 5yo and 4yo we always have a good few hours walk abouts with a little picnic at the end in the dino playground on the bottom level. Would recommend to any family looking for an educational and affordable day out. ALSO $17 parking all day? why not!

I came to see the new Sea monsters exhibit and had a really great time. Make sure to book ahead of time as it sold out today! The experience was wonderful and very informative. Outside of this exhibit there were a number of free exhibits like the dinosaurs scattered around the museum which can also be fun! All of the staff I spoke to were very helpful and friendly! There are also hand sanitizer stations almost everywhere throughout the exhibits which is good for exhibits with a lot of touching.

What a great day at the museum. Heaps for little and big kids to see, even for the shorts retention span they may have. Free entry but for the Lego you need to book and pay. Dinosaurs and Australia wildlife were defiantly highlights for the kids. There was a great Torres Straight exhibition too. If in Brisbane make sure you give it a look.

I love this museum! Access to levels 2, 3 and 4 was free and we could see a very large collection of insects and animals from Australia, million years old fossils and a live green python. I loved the fact that most animals and insects were real. There was also a stunning collection of minerals found all around Australia with some from private collections giving the public the opportunity to admire unique pieces.

Visited the museum as a last minute option due to the markets not running. There was a dinosaur exhibition on which we took a look at. Found the experience quite good. However felt the actual normal museum part lacked alot of variety that other museums have. Some interesting things to see though.

I recently visited the state museum in Brisbane, and to be honest, I left feeling a bit disappointed. I was particularly looking forward to seeing their dinosaur exhibition, as they had been promoting it all over Brisbane. However, upon arrival, I discovered that the exhibition was in a separate section of the museum, and required an additional ticket to enter. I found it quite disappointing that the museum would advertise the exhibition so heavily, but then make visitors pay extra to see it. Unfortunately, the other parts of the museum didn't really make up for this letdown either. I found them to be rather small and uninteresting, and they didn't hold my attention for very long. I think this museum is probably better suited for families with young children, as there were several interactive exhibits and activities designed specifically for kids. Overall, I was expecting a lot more from a state museum, and I felt let down by my visit. While I can see the appeal for families with young children, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for adults looking for a more comprehensive museum experience.

When I vitiated there last time, it was a bit hectic to enjoy the exhibition due to lots of little ones and families, but that's what museum need for. Actually it was lovely to see this museum packed with children and family.

I have a bachelors in linguistics and extended my trip to be able to visit this museum since it's only open 4hrs a week. The museum consists of two small rooms, one with signs that were repetitive and not well explained, we had to google some mythology and even historical events for context. The other room had two glass cases of objects of which not all were labelled or explained. A few books were on sale but stuffed away in the bottom of a glass case, titles not visible and no one to purchase from. Honestly, a waste of time.

Fantastic museum to take children or enjoy yourself. The animal and dinosaur visits were our sons favourite, though many other aspects were well loved. For a free viewing experience I would recommend attending at least one. The gift shop is a bit pricey, but that is to be expected I guess given the free entry etc.

Usually we visit the museum animals area but stumbled across an amazing piece of history, the Mephisto tank captured from Germany and restored. A video shows how it was lovingly restored and the effort involved to put this piece in place in the museum using cranes. This section of the museum contained memorabilia during the war and was very interesting. Loved the collection of the different Anzac ribbons throughout the years.

We came here for the Disney 100 years of Animation. Such good exhibit, a must see for everyone. my 35 year old son took me for a date to see it. Such a lovely trip down to memory lane recollecting where he was, how he felt, who he was with on every Disney movie l. We had a great time. Photos are a little dark on some, flash is not allowed. Booking is not necessary but to avoid delay it is a must esp on weekends. Paid parking is easy here there are 4 large carparks around but the most convenient is below this museum suitable for older people like myself.

The current Queensland Museum dinosaur exhibition is without doubt one of the most spectacular event ever shown. Apart from featuring many dinosaurs from different parts of the world, the most mind boggling display would have to be the example of the world's largest dinosaur that ever lived. The display is massive, seeing the true size is incredible and the logistics of putting it all together is totally commendable. We're glad we went to see this, it certainly puts a different perspective on our previous ideas held about the size of these giants. Definitely not to be missed and highly recommended.

We had a great day, we haven't been for many years since we took our kids. Totally changed and has definitely improved and has a great layout. Really enjoyed downstairs the war museum and look forward to seeing that grow. Great day out for adults and kids.

Always enjoy visiting the Queensland Museum. We were eager to check out the updated Dinosaurs Unearthed exhibit - the hybrid of technology & old school display is used effectively. There does seem to be bit of empty space around the museum though. I highly recommend the temporary Dinosaurs of Patagonia exhibit. My second time through and it is still awe-inspiring! Once in a lifetime opportunity for my 71 year old Mum - she was like a big kid again. Mum has mobility issues and the accessibility options were great. A very friendly staff member even escorted us upstairs in the staff/freight elevator when we realised mum would have to walk down the far end to use the regular elevator only to walk back to the opposite end for entry to the Patagotitan exhibit.

Our recent excursion to the museum proved to be an enriching and enjoyable experience, characterized by a diverse array of exhibits that captivated our interest. Of notable mention was the paid exhibit featuring LEGO Dinosaurs, an engaging spectacle that resonated with visitors of all ages, infusing a playful and creative dimension into our museum visit. The interactive mosaic initiative within the LEGO Dinosaurs exhibit demonstrated a commendable fusion of education and hands-on participation. Guests were invited to contribute to a collective mosaic, resulting in an informative and visually striking infographic detailing various aspects of dinosaur life. This thoughtful engagement not only elevated the overall experience but also fostered a sense of collaboration among patrons. In the spirit of transparency, we encountered the perennial challenge of locating restroom facilities in a somewhat unconventional placement within the museum premises. Though a minor inconvenience, it added a touch of humor to our journey. Additionally, given the museum's popularity, parking availability has become a notable consideration. Timely arrival is recommended to secure a parking spot and ensure a seamless commencement of the museum exploration.

Engaging and informative museum covering the history, flora and fauna of Queensland. Lots of interactive exhibits to maintain your interest throughout the museum. The ANZAC Gallery on Level 1 is well worth visiting. Mephisto, the German tank, is an impressive artifact. The personal items on display highlighted the impact of the war on individuals and their loved ones. Quite moving to see these artifacts. The museum also hosts special exhibitions which have an admission fee. Recommend dropping by should you find yourself in South Bank or the Cultural Centre.

Great dinosaur exhibition on last weekend. Plenty of fossils and dinosaur skulls and skeletons etc. And the interactive displays kept the kids entertained. There are also displays showing every conceivable species of insect, beetle, butterflies, etc. Very interesting and very worth coming and having a look. If you have kids, I recommend you bring them along for a good and educational day out.

I have always happily attended this museum with no issues until today. There was a Sea Creatures exhibition and there was a thing you could do where you colour a shark and scan it in and they show it on screen. The purple headed lady was very rude in her approach to people not colouring in with the correct colours. It's been a stressful year and rudeness doesn't need to be included in what is supposed to be a fun and stress free experience.

Regardless if you're going alone or with your kids, Queensland Museum is a place you'll enjoy to the max. It has plenty of entertainment for adults and young ones. From birds and reptiles to spiders, dinosaurs and even vintage cameras. The special exhibitions are cool too. Sea monsters was a good bet. My toddler enjoyed it very much and I was amazed by some of the new things I learned. Give it a go. You won't regret it. Even if you just go to the "free" stuff it's definitely worth your time. And it's free entertainment for your kids too.

We took our two kids to an exhibition here and it wasn’t interesting at all. The kids liked it in parts but it was so small and took 15 mins to walk through. The staff were so disappointing, very very rude on entry, rude whilst inside and took no interest in kids or the exhibit. It felt like it was an inconvenience to them having kids there or people there. Very disappointing as we love taking the kids to Museums but this didn’t compare to others we’ve been to at all.

Wonderful place. They change the themes on display in the downstairs part every few months this makes things exciting. There is a lot of activities within the surrounding area. Great for kids, the downstairs part often has activities for them to do, touch, play with, experiment with. Not a stuffy old museum.

We attended Queensland museum for the first time on Saturday 29/01/22 & specially booked for the Brickman Lego Wonders Of The World & very impressed with the overall displays. Booked online AUD $19.50 each. The Museum is defiantly worth visiting & give yourself a few hours to take in all the displays & read so much info.

Love the Queensland museum! Lots of free exhibits but sadly the dinosaur exhibits are closed and being renovated for a bigger dinosaur show in March, 2023. Nonetheless my kids love this museum, especially the outdoor dinosaur play area. What I love was the gemstone areas because it has a room of gemstones and minerals in display. I think it would be better if there are more interactive display but it was nonetheless great for kids, considering it’s mostly free entry.

The cultural center is an amazing place for families with kids! With multiple engaging exposiciones the little ones are sure to have a great time, I visited during the Dinosaurs of the Patagonia exposition and let me tell you my kids had an excellent time and were really happy to see some real Dino bones! I’d recommend to buy the tickets in advance since it can get quite busy. They also have some permanent expositions to see some Aussie animals!!

This museum is free to enter with the exception of the science world floor and the dinosaurs of Patagonia exhibit. That still leaves 3 floors of museum to explore, and you won't be disappointed. Go early in the morning and you can breeze right through, it starts to get busy around noon. The exhibits were well laid out, had great flow and excellent lighting for viewing.

Visited on a surprisingly busy family day with lots of people. The exhibits are well spaced so it never feels crowded, the dinosaurs are interesting (the animation on the wall could've been better but it gives a good sense of different dinosaurs). There is a museum cafe (QM cafe) and also an art gallery cafe further down. The gift shop was interesting but highly overpriced, a bit disappointed by the plushies because they're not that soft. The Queensland facts are interesting around the exhibits though. Overall a good place to explore about Queensland's fauna and dinosaurs. In terms of getting to the place; super convenient. It is about a five minute walk from South Brisbane Train Station, and easily accessible through a sky bridge with lifts. The construction currently can be a bit confusing but just follow the signage and you'll get there.

Absolutely amazing experience. Lots of information and display. Say for example, explanations as to how dinasours got extinct. Insect corners. Specimens of birds, fish, snakes, spiders, butterflies, bees... in Australia were displayed. Great to know. Good for anyone and it's free.

Came here for the temporary Dinosaurs of Patagonia exhibit with my daughter. Great experience, the exhibits are informative and engaging, the layout is good. Probably a good 2-3 hours if you read everything in detail and spend time looking at the dinosaurs, but you could still enjoy it in half an hour. Lots of highlights but the massive titanosaur Patagotitan has to be #1 - just being physically in the same space is an awe-inspiring experience, and it barely fits in the space. For purists: it's unclear what if any of the exhibits are original bones, am guessing most of the full skeleton mounts are 100% or near 100% replica. There are single bone exhibits - again it wasn't always 100% clear whether these were original or replicas. Did not detract from our enjoyment at all.

Great museum with lots of exhibits on display, and lots of cool interesting things to see. We enjoyed the LEGO Dinosaurs In the paid exhibit room. They had a cool mosaic where you could build a tile for it and they would put it on the wall to make an infographic for the Dino's. Toilets, as always, in a weird location. Parking has been pretty tight recently so make sure you get in early.

Great place to take the kids I think during this climate kids under 10 should be free as it does get costly as a whole family seeing small exhibits and should be more on offer for places to eat but certainly a day well spent, can't wait for more exhibitions over the holidays and new year. Staff are friendly and helpful and is a clean but very busy environment so wear a mask if worried about any health issues..

Wife and sister-in-law went to the wedding attire exhibition which they said was very good. 👍 Lunch at Cafe Muse was acceptable. The free exhibits were interesting. Only wish that the big animal size comparison display was available as a poster ☹️ The shop has a good selection of items for purchase. Would recommend this for a visit. First time visiting the museum since moving to Brisbane over 12 months ago. Absolutely stunning buildings and the museum is so well maintained. The staff are so friendly and the food at the cafe is really good too. Definitely going back again as there is so much to explore and do around the museum buildings too

The museum is great for families of all ages. There are many interactive exhibits to keep everyone entertained. It is stroller friendly and the dinosaur garden is a great place to chill out and eat some lunch.

Great friendly staff who take good care of you. It'd amazing how much they preserved the items on display. It's also good how they are honest with what is a replica and what is real, and why they do it. I bought a 500 million year old fossil and I'm still boggled by its age. Crazy!

Took the family out for an amazing experience checking out the new 'Sea Monsters' exhibition. It was interactive, informative and most importantly, lots of fun! What more could you ask for! *Bonus tip, swing past Level 1 & check out the captured German tank 'Mephisto'. An incredible display within the ANZAC Gallery.

Huge dinosaurs. Awesome Sea Monsters exhibition now on till May. Just have to pre book your tickets even for the free exhibits for covid precautions. (I ordered mine at the door on my phone 🤣) Hand sanitisers everywhere 👏🏽 baby and parents room aswell. So much to see and do with the little ones aswell. Love that there were still interactive things like puzzles and buttons with sounds. Don’t forget level 4 - there were real snakes and stick insects were awesome. Very well put together, my son had a blast and double pram friendly 🤣🙌🏽

Great exhibits running currently particularly for the kids. Sea monsters was full of interesting creatures and interactive stops. Cafe attached was well priced and had good food.

One of the favourite outings for the nieces, with plenty to see for all ages. Some free sections including the discovery centre and dinosaur garden. Online pre-registration required for free areas during COVID restrictions. Some paid exhibits rotating every couple of months. Science centre entry is reasonable, suits school aged kids.

I love bringing my kids here! They love to explore and run around. It's an experience they can learn alot from too! Every couple of months they run a new exhibit which is great! Cafe right next door if your feeling hungry. Come check it out if you haven't yet! Xx :)

My 10 yo said : Sea monsters exhibition was great (except for the sticky hand sanitiser). Plus the scuba suit was missing label number 1.

  • 2/5 Jennifer K. 3 years ago on Google
Not impressed with the display - bridal. Information too low and too wordy. Only one person could read at a time so, despite covid19, no social distancing. Not enough toilets or seating in waiting areas

Initially went to see the exhibit of Egyptian Mummies, thoroughly breath-taking (no photos were allowed in this exhibition due to respect of the deceased). Afterwards, I went to see the general museum after and it was an extremely enjoyable outing! Full of rich history, awesome specimens (including a scientific work in progress!). 5/5 would visit again!

This place has many free exhibitions and café. Also there has beautiful river side views and so much to see walking outsides. Furthermore, next to the museum, library is so nice, we can be seating there and looking out side river view and reading books. Good place to go relax and spent time there. 👍

We went there as a family to see the lego exhibition, which was great. The children really enjoyed that it was interactive and could play with the lego. We enjoyed the rest of the museum afterwards-which rounded out the trip nicely. As far as the rest of the museum went-it was pretty good, but nothing earth shattering. There was enough to look at or was interactive to spend around 3or so hours. Parking across the road was plentiful (exhibition center) and southbank is right there to go afterwards.

  • 5/5 Tina L. 2 years ago on Google
The Lego exhibit is absolutely fun. Around $19 per person. Could spend an hour or two there to look at different wonders of the world. From Europe, Asian and American. Some ancient ones also. Some activities has Lego for kids to play around. They seems to love it. Just should be aware of the chocking hazard while they play. I had a good afternoon there and learnt lots of interesting facts and knowledges

  • 5/5 Timothy L. 2 years ago on Google
Both myself and kids spent a great afternoon here. $59 for a 2A2C family ticket. Should have learnt about this exhibition earlier in June so I could get thr unlimited pass. Each Lego exhibit has some funny figures doing silly things. Great to discover all these. Don't forget to spend a few moments to watch the video about the Brickman and his team.

Great , the only downer was having to pay to see the Lego display , really Lego do you need to charge people, I enjoyed the dinosaurs foot prints display

  • 4/5 Jozzelle 2 years ago on Google
Not that large of a museum but their exhibitions are interesting. We went to the one that had sea monsters and although it was spectacular, it felt too short. Maybe that's just me yearning for more knowledge after seeing a museum like the MET. However, in Brisbane, this is a freat place to entertain kids for maybe two hours or three at most.

I would definitely recommend a visit to the Queensland Museum. I had a look at all of the free exhibitions and there's something for everyone. The Anzac Day war exhibit was super informative and interesting with all of the artefacts from the era. The mineral had some great items too if that's your bag. And then the animal section was fantastic. Huge preserved sea creatures, skeletons, Australian wildlife, and live insects and a snake.

Great Museum! It is an awesome experience. Several exhibits to chose from. The dinosaurs are also a favorite. We went during the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing celebration and exhibition. It was great to see the excitement.

  • 5/5 Cassandra K. 1 year ago on Google
I recommend going to this museum if you or your kids love dinosaurs. To see the dinosaurs you do have to pay a fee but it is worth it to see them. The rest of the museum is free. Both myself and my husband had an amazing time here. It is also a museum that accommodates people with disabilities. Disability ramps, elevators and regular seating are provided.

  • 5/5 Tommy S. 10 months ago on Google
If you are in Brisbane, this is a great spot to visit. You can see most of it for free and there is usually an exhibition on which you may need to pay extra to go and visit. The spark lab is an additional cost too but we’ll worth it for inquisitive minds. Lots of fun!

Good place to visit with kids. Access to most areas are free. I expected to see more items of historic value.

Loved it. Very interesting. Kudos to all who created and maintain it. Specially loved the astounding red/brown behemoth (that earned the crew an extra shilling/shift it was so hard to drive!) Totally absorbing and great for kids. Very reasonable price to. Handy café.

Superb museum. Fantastic natural history area and we enjoyed the Anzac area too. We spent a couple of fun hours here. My learning of the day: there are kookaburras with blue feathers. Who knew

Well, what to say, it was my 1st visit to this museum and I wasn't disappointed at all, although it's not very large , but is well set out .. The Patagonia dinosaur exhibit was most interesting and informative. I do think if you get the chance, pop in for a looksie ..

I had a great time at the Queensland Museum. The exhibits were fascinating and informative, and I learned a lot about the history and nature of Queensland. I especially enjoyed the dinosaur exhibit, and the animal taxidermy upstairs. The museum itself was also beautiful, with stunning architecture and design. It was also a nice place to cool off from the heat, as the air conditioning was very effective. I would definitely recommend this museum to anyone who wants to have a fun and educational day out.

Wow, a fabulous museum! Really enjoyed our visit, the free exhibits were fantastic, as were the facilities. Thank you to Georgia for your help with Brisbane travel advice. We would highly recommend a visit to this museum if you are in the area!

Excellent museum with free entry. 100% recommend. Kid friendly - loved the dinosaur garden area for kids to eat and run around.

At the moment there is a dinosaur and bugs exhibition, it was really enlightening. I learned a few things about meteorites and ants nests. The coffee inside is not very good to be honest.

  • 5/5 Dipesh K. 5 months ago on Google
The museum was an incredible experience. The exhibitions were well-curated, showcasing a wide range of artifacts and works of art from different time periods and cultures. The displays were informative and engaging, making it easy to learn and appreciate the history and significance of each piece.

I really enjoyed spending an afternoon at the museum, it's small but it's interesting and exciting. If you enjoy visiting museums, then make a stop here . The art gallery is just next door and dozens of amazing places for food just a short, lovely walk away.

Great museum. It is somewhat of a science center for children. Do not miss the war museum on the bottom floor.

  • 5/5 Thomas H. 4 months ago on Google
It's free! Great place with lots of history, the dinosaur section was amazing! They currently have a new Lego Jurassic World exhibition there as well for $29.90 per adult and $19.90 per child. With a family ticket (2 adults + 2 kids) at $84. Definitely a good place to bring children.

This was the first museum I've been too as an adult (All this time I thought you had to pay for entry but the general walk through is free) and it was a very enjoyable experience! I liked it so much I brought my sibling to walk through it the other day, it's a very nice experience especially on weekdays when it isn't too crowded. It's obviously a great place for kids and families but for young adults who like history and animals it's also pretty cool.
