Comfortable stay. Bit run down in places but your not there for that! Expensive but then the whole island is. Couple of places to eat. Friendly staff. Will certainly be back. Dolphin feeding is magical!! Snorkelling is great! Highly recommend. A lot of people slam the restaurants on the island. They are absolutely fine. If your used to 5* fine dinning then you won't like it. But we enjoyed everything we ate.

If you've watched a lifestyle program hoping this resort is paradise and is a ten out of ten it's not even close. A struggling six at best is more apt. Saving grace are the Deep Blue apartments, but you have to pay additional for that privilege. Overall, there are some really good reason to stay. Access to beach, facilities and weather to name a few. However, I've never missed quality food, reasonably priced drinks or good old fashioned customer service as much as I had during my week long stay. The food and beverage staff are nice enough but don't really have a care factor or passion and I don't blame them. It's almost a holiday for them too. The bar queues were long and no table service detracts from any measure of feeling special. Reception is outdated and unclean. Even in the Deep Blue apartments the foyer area smelt like urine and the glass doors hadn't been cleared all week. If I were to return, I'd definitely go the camping instead. This is a much better option for Moreton Island.

Absolutely beautiful resort. We stayed in a resort room with pool and beach views. Beds were comfortable and room was very clean. We enjoyed the activities that we did. Dolphin feeding, ATV bikes, snorkeling the shipwrecks and the sand dunes rides. Only regret is not staying longer. All the staff were really lovely. We will definitely be back!

    - Expensive unhealthy food with very limited options..there is a total of 2 restaurants to eat at - one with pub like food- everything overpriced, dry and tasteless.the Asian restaurant is absolutely ridiculous charging 42$ for a stir fry. - there was no decent breakfast options served- the ‘buffet breakfast is $34 for very average food and get there early because it shuts at 9:30am and half the food is gone by 9 no sleeping in allowed on holiday! - the service we received throughout our 3 day stay was atrocious. Staff members seemed in a rush and had no compassion for any issues brought to their attention. It’s like the staff members expect everyone to know where to go, how to do things, like we have all been here before! For most people this is our first time- we need to be told exactly what is expected of us when booking activities, and some more SIGNAGE around the activity areas would be very appreciated- so people know which cues to line up in etc... We were given confusing instructions on what we had to do to sign up and confirm our activities. And completely forgotten to be told to fill out a waiver to be able to do our ATV tour. We were denied being able to do the tour all because the staff member forgot to mention this to us at check-in. Made our first day at the resort quite unpleasant. - the bed and pillows were nice at the basic hotel room, which was quite overpriced in our opinion but it was okay- no clean linen or servicing of room for our entire stay. -everything costs extra- hiring any equipment to play ping pong/basketball, etc you have to wait in line to hire and a deposit is taken- fair enough however all the equipment is falling apart, the badminton birdies are broken and don’t fly well. This needs an update asap. Overall the resort is quite old and needs a refresh, the location is however beautiful, with good vibes around.

We stayed in one of the renovated rooms at the Kookaburra building and was very nice and clean! However, it will be nicer to have better quality food at the restaurant, equipment hire are a bit overpriced for what they offer. The dinner feels like you are in 1950s just cheap and unhealthy meals Kudos to the glass cleaners they really do a good job keeping all glass impeccable. Would be nice to have better quality food!

I'm surprised to read that some reviews found the staff bad. On contrary, we found everyone from the boat crew, to reception, to rangers, to waiters, to tour operators, photographers... EVERYONE provide a TOP service. We did however see several tourists not follow very clear directions hence they might find staff bad when that's not being accepted. I loved to see that keeping the wild life is the priority! It was a a fantastic experience. Everything worked as clockwork, and there were SO many activities available. Even though the resort was fully booked, it never felt crowded. Everything was clean and safe. All in all a beautiful experience. I take one star off for the following reasons: 1) boat to the resort was not well air-conditioned; 2) no housekeeping (we stayed two nights); 3) restaurants could provide more variety; 4) everything on the island was very expensive; 5) small playground with no facilities for children younger than 3 years old

Lived in Brisbane for over 30 years and never visited before. Such a shame this place is so beautiful and so close. The beauty of this place would have you thinking you are in far North Queensland, yet on a clear day you can see the Brisbane skyline. There is so much to offer and my family had a ball. Even on a busy day during a Sydney P&O cruise stopover it was glorious and came alive yet was never crowded. The people are very friendly and the food was delicious. The place is beautifully presented and has a great family friendly night atmosphere. Would definitely come back again.

Oh my, if the weather is good it’s a really lovely experience. Beautiful island, lovely water, but the facilities are minimal. The staff scarce. The rooms average to good. Highly recommend taking your own food, but utensils too. If the weather is bad no dolphin show, beach bad and nothing to do. Only one way over and one way back.

We really loved every moment of this holiday! Family friendly, so many wonderful activities that are so unique. We even had a surprise close encounter with some whales, so close to the beach 🐋 Only thing would be the waits on coffee were a little long, but we did come in the busy period.

So close to Brisbane yet you feel like you are on a tropical island. Resort rooms were spacious and clean. Buffet breakfast was plentiful. Great place to launch a day trip like Dolphin feeding, whale watching, snorkeling off the wrecks, sand taboganing, four wheel drive adventure, and the beaches are nice and white and the water is clear.

We came as a tour group felt very welcomed. Staff are wonderful. They go out of their way to help, and answered our questions if we needed anything. Very relaxing stay even though we were there for only two nights. Very full itinerary. Also time for relaxation. Food was very fresh and interesting. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

Seems like there is no where to leave a review that is actually reviewed by the resort, also no option for feedback anywhere. This review is due to their food and beverage manager, Melissa, who we, and at least 5-6 other guests, witnessed absolutely screaming at a food attendant over something as simple as forgetting something it seemed. I have never seen a “professional” behave so poorly, so disgusting to see someone think they are entitled to yell and scream at their staff like that. The poor worker who would have been probably 19 himself, had her screaming, and shaking her finger in his face! Not only this, but we witnessed her yell at him the day prior in the bar area too. She’s clearly been here too long, needs to be humbled and HR should be alerted to look at the way she treats people.

Just a resort made to take your money. Have a lovely lawn ,wonderful beach. It's all about the offer of doing things water sports helicopter rides and much more. Walk behind reception up the lookout made the visit. Highly recommended walk. Bit steep. Island is Hugh Sandy desert behind the resort look.

We had a holiday home, everything was great. We hired a golf cart/ buggy for a day for $130 per 24hours... Bit expensive. And took way too long to arrange when we got there. Would recommend paying $20 each way to cart your luggage up and down then walk the rest of the time. The stairs aren't too bad.. depending where your holiday home is located

Super friendly staff made our stay fabulous. Clean and modern rooms. Excellent meal options at the restaurants. Not budget but so worth it. The dolphin feeding experience is one to remember. Snorkelling on the wrecks is wonderful with an amazing variety of fish to see.

Plenty to do and we’ll worth a visit. We stayed 2 nights and would liked a bit longer to explore the island and take a boat out to do some fishing. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed at this island resort, and were not disappointed. I’d read a few bad reviews so was a little worried, but it was absolutely wonderful! Our family of 4 stayed 2 nights in a family unit, and it was perfect for us! Located in one of the lodges next to the pools, the location was close to all the restaurants and activities. The dolphin feeding was amazing, even though it was windy and the water was so cold. The resort does a great job explaining what to do while also making sure the wild dolphins aren’t over-fed. It was also just as fun to watch the dolphins from the jetty. We rented snorkel gear to explore the wrecks. It was a bit expensive, but we got 3 hours and that was plenty of time, even though it’s a 25 minute walk to the wreckage from the rental location. We hiked to the desert dunes. Quite a trek, but definitely worth it! The beach was clean. The water was fabulous. The room was updated and clean. The staff was friendly and beyond helpful. The food at every place was delicious with generous portions, and reasonable prices. You can purchase take away wine from the Resort Store to have in your room. You can purchase take away cans/tinnies of beer from B&B’s Bar for the beach and pool. Overall it was a wonderful holiday, and we would recommend it to anyone who is in the area! We also really enjoyed the Bush Stone-curlew birds. They were one of the most entertaining parts of the trip with their silly long legs and hilarious hissing sounds when you get too close. 😆

A Great place to get away, tidy facilities and plenty of activities to do! A lot of focus on preserving local wildlife and informing the population on how to help in doing that which is awesome. Service could use some work, that being said I didn't have any negative experiences however it was inconsistent and could be improved. Food was average for the price however quick and fresh when ordered.

On a cruise so we went on the excursion over the sand dunes around the island. Loved our driver. Lunch and sparkling wine included. Highly recommended

  • 3/5 Zoe F. 8 months ago on Google
Room was very dated, we were missing spare pillows and blankets at the start but were replaced upon request. Several cockroaches and bugs but you are on a island so it's somewhat reasonable. Sand in the bed. Beach was nice and wrecks were not too far away. Island itself was magnificent. Activities were good. Recommend sunset tour and dolphin feeding to all families and groups. Pools were said to be heated but kids found it quite cold. Dolphin feeding was the highlight and dolphins did not get full even though we were at the end of the line. If you haven't booked dolphin feeding you can always watch from the jetty. Sunset tour included fish feeding and wreck sightseeing. Saw turtles and a bunch of starfish. Sunset was beautiful and it's great opportunity for lots of photos. Nice job Tangalooma. 👍👍

We were day guests at the resort, we were there for the whale watching trip and a helicopter flight. We had an incredible day, such a fantastic day from start to finish. We watched the pelicans being fed, played on the beach, went in the pool - even if it was freezing! Watched the kookaburras being fed, had dinner and cocktails and saw fish, turtles, whales breaching and dolphins being fed at sunset. If you can afford it and want to make memories I would absolutely recommend a day or stay - I'm sure that's great too - here, my only regret was forgetting to buy a souvenir at the gift shop.

What a treat if you have to opportunity to stay here perfect views across the water. Make sure to book a room with ocean views. Very pleasant staff with great option of activities to do provided by the resort. Nice peaceful place to stay on such a great island. You could call it paradise!

  • 1/5 Matt W. 7 months ago on Google
The restaurant won't serve you if you're not a guest, even with a mostly empty dining room, but the resort doesn't feel high end or exclusive in any way. The patio tables are cheap and wobbly, and the chairs are plastic. Inside, the dining area smells stale like beer hasn't been fully cleaned out of the carpets. Quality level of the dining area is more like McDonald's than an exclusive resort. I guess because the resort has no competition, they don't need to try.

I stayed at Tangalooma Resort in October 2023 for three nights. The room was reasonably tidy, except for a mark down the front of the toilet. The bed was comfortable, and the room was a decent size. However, I was surprised to find out that there was no room service for cleaning or removing rubbish, and towels cost $5 each if you needed a new one. We were there to celebrate a birthday, and despite being told we couldn't book a table at the beach barbecue restaurant, we were assured we could show up after the dolphin feeding. To our disappointment, the restaurant was closed that night. One member of our group had an unpleasant experience during a massage, as they were locked in the room for over 20 minutes when the practitioner left. After a snorkeling session, some hungry members of our party found the cafe closed, leaving them without dining options. While the resort's activities were fantastic, it was marred by issues with guest services. The lack of alternative dining options on the island made it frustrating when venues closed without adequate notice. In summary, Tangalooma Resort has beautiful activities, but they need to improve their guest services and communication to enhance the overall experience.

Needs updating. Needs heated pools, maybe something indoors. I've never spent an entire day at a resort trying to keep warm and dry. But I also understand that running island resorts is a challenge. I'd be happy to donate my work time for resort time 😁

  • 3/5 Terence Le G. 7 months ago on Google
Took a day trip. Nothing spectacular but heaps on offer. Expect 4x4 races down the beach, yachts and jet skis in between swimmers, a strong current near the wrecks. Overall the rental of equipment (kayaks, snorkelling, stand up paddle boards, wet suits etc) is painful with all the admin and queues each time. The ferry is efficient and they even took a slight detour to see whales. If you're after a bit of everything this might be for you but for us it's a bit of the wild west and we wouldn't go back.

  • 3/5 Alana L. 5 months ago on Google
We went for a 4 day trip, and the overall experience was nice. The beach, snorkeling and other activities was amazing. However, the food was expensive and unhealthy. Not alot of varieties and when we went, one restaurant only had half its menu. Rooms were okay, but we found left over underwear in the closet and there were many broken things in the rooms. Staff were okay, some good some bad.

The location is great, had a great time watching sunsets on the balcony. Villa was supposedly recently refurbished, but didn't look it . Dolphin and Pelican feeding was great . Overall we really enjoyed our stay, but the place is crying out for better eating options. Main restaurant was closed Mon/Tuesday when we were there ,which left us with take away style food which felt like eating in a school cafeteria. How is there not a beachfront bar / restaurant here with so much beautiful beach? Sunset deck was also limited hours...Why?

What a awful time - do not stay at this resort - you will pay top dollar and end up in backpacker like accommodation- booming music from up to 8 teenagers upstairs, drinking, yelling, smoking, swearing and fighting…. Rang reception and management multiple times - young adults walking around the resort with boom boxes blasting. It’s not peaceful or relaxing- the partying, drinking and yelling commenced in the morning and well into the night - you could not stay in your room during the day due to this mob roaming around the resort yelling and partying. Foul language all day and into the night - this overshadowed the whole experience of the island 🏝️. Come on management !!! Pick up your act - people pay good money to stay here ! We will never come here again. It may be a better option to do only day trips if people really want to see this place but sadly you will probably leave disappointed and less money in your pocket- really do your research before booking this resort ( backpackers hostel )

First time coming here for a wedding and the views were to die for, so beautiful. A few eateries to choose from and a bar with delicious cocktail slushees. Our room felt and looked a bit run down which was disappointing for what you pay, however we were lucky enough to have a distant view of the blue seas. We visited for the weekend and was quite excited about the dolphin feeding, despite being told it would be quite busy. Got down there before it started and the line was super long, you’d be waiting hours just to feed a dolphin for a few seconds, wasn’t worth it so we ended up watching from the dock. So I’d definitely recommend coming during the week as it seemed like it was Christmas!! The Wheelhouse is massive and very relaxing for a wedding with stunning sights of the ocean. Bar staff are lovely too.

Budget room slightly outdated but clean and comfortable enough. Restaurants & Cafes are average with limited food options, better off cooking most meals yourself if you can. Bar and cocktails reasonably priced, great views from the rooftop. Nice facilities and plenty of activities which can be easily organised on the day.

  • 5/5 Saranna E. 3 months ago on Google New
I love this place, it is truly Brisbane's hidden secret. The beach is gorgeously soft and the water calm with tiny fish swimming happily around. It's worth the stay in the resort to give yourself more time to enjoy everything. Don't miss the spectacular sunset and there are ample BBQs so cooking is easy.

  • 5/5 A J. 4 months ago on Google
Truly surprised at some of the reviews. All the staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming. Sure, your coffee may take a while during the morning rush but give them a break, or go outside of peak times. There are limited restaurants and menu options especially if you're staying more than 3 nights. But again, I think people should set their expectations when coming to an island resort. The resort shop (convenience store) sells basic ingredients for a sandwich (or pay $7.50 for a ham and cheese sandwich at the coffee lounge). They also sell meats so you can bbq yourself in designated areas. We stayed 3 nights in the newly renovated Kookaburra building, comfortable for 2 adults; a good walking distance from the reception/dining areas. The quad bike tour was a lot of fun so I highly recommend it. The desert area was relatively easy to walk to and absolutely stunning! All in all, the resort appeared to run very smoothly. It can't be easy, so credit to all the staff.

Visited the island off a cruise ship loved it there, went to the bar there, that was a great place to go to for a few drinks on a really hot day. Went and fed a dolphin shore tour, it was a really good experience but it could've been a lot better if we had a photo we could look back on, the photographer that was with us, what can I say no dolphin in shot was very disappointed to say the least, I think we should be able to where a go-pro would at least get a shot of a dolphin in it, I had a dolphin right in front of me where's the photo !!!! A lot of money spent with no photo to look back on it was a long awaited dream but all I got was disappointment and upset 👎😟

We enjoyed our stay here. Lots of activities and positive energy. Smiles on staff and people's faces everywhere. Good range of food and drinks with very reasonable prices. Will definitely come back and this time for fishing. Thanks guys and keep up the fantastic work!

Family of 5 stayed for 4 nights at the resort. The rooms are basic, but functional, tiny kitchenette but workable. Agree with comments about the very limited options to dine. The beach cafe has very bland food, even the basic pasta dishes. The bbq cafe has limited options as well. All this at a premium price. Lots to do though, snorkelling, ATVs etc etc and the tour staff were all great really friendly helpful and welcoming. Then the cruise ship turns up …….The peace and serenity disappear with 2000 day guests using the limited facilities.. avoid those days at all costs that really put a dampener on our 4 night stay (2 cruise ships in that time). Day trip next time.

A bit run down, the food/restaurants on offer need to be made more family friendly or exciting. There's no atmosphere in the dining hall at all. The overall trip was amazing and loved it. Definately will be back!

Unfortunately, this is my review for your resort guys. I have lost my black bag till now they didn't find it. They are not taking good responsibilities. I have had a very bad experience. Where is my bag 🎒 if not in the resort and not on the ferry or even in Brisbane. So where is it. Who is the responsible for that????? Regards Antwanet

A trip to Tangalooma and whale watching as well, what isn't there to like? Picture perfect weather, friendly staff and YES we saw whales 🐳😍 a relaxing day! Just watch for the rough seas as you head into open waters... Loved our day, you will too!

Went on the day trip whale watching. Amazing experience seeing whales, sharks, dolphins and giant turtles. Very clean boat. Excellent staff who were very helpful. Special shout out to Skipper Paul who went out of his way to ensure that I had a good trip. Guarantee that if you don't see whales then you will have a pass to come back another day.

Food was disgusting didn't matter on the place or time we ate. Villa was nice could do with a little renovation but great location and very private. We did the quads tour, it was okay but if you have quads and motor bikes at home I wouldn't waste your money as you don't go on the beach that much. I would recommend hiring a small boat to go up to the ship wreck. All and all if I was to go back would definitely stay on the private villa again but take own food, car beers and boat. Beautiful island to explore at your own speed.

  • 5/5 Kristie C. 2 years ago on Google
Love this place, I didn't want to leave. Myself and 11 others stayed in a beach house up on the hill, the views were spectacular. The Quad bike tour is a must do...so much fun! The Whale watching was exciting, unfortunately on our trip we only seen them pop up for a quick breath then back down they went, didn't get to see a whale breach but still an amazing experience. We took a relaxing walk along the beach up to the ship wrecks, we were so mesmerised by the crystal clear water and astonishingly clean, soft sand. Whilst booking our activities, the staff members were very helpful, friendly and answered any questions we had. I will definitely be coming back, next time I will bring the kids 👍🏼

Great place to relax for a few nights. Prices are reasonable, and lots of activities to do around. Awesome to sit on the beach and watch the sunset with a few drinks. I was a year 6 student who came on Monday the first of November this year. I can enthusiastically say that we had so much fun and enjoyed the lovely activities and beautiful views of the sun set/rise. We loved Sammy our skipper for the fish feeding and snorkelling because he played cool and funny songs as we travelled through the ocean. Everything was so new and amazing and I 100% enjoyed the experience. -Sophie

Great experience from start to finish in a lovely island with fantastic beaches. Service is very friendly and helpful. The only and main problem is the lack of good dining options. Make sure to bring your own food and enjoy the perfect getaway!

Poor quality food - feels like you are dining in a cafeteria, overpriced ‘trips’ and cockroaches everywhere in our room, tired facilities, some staff rude. I do recommend snorkelling at the wrecks, further south of the resort.

Best ever experience for adventures. Beautiful island and the most friendliest staff. The hotel I stayed at was clean, very handy and nice. But the food is very expensive in here. Spent like $200 in a day just for food for 3 pax. I would highly recommend to bring your own food and groceries in a ski and book a hotel with kitchen facilities or if not bring your own electric pan to cook a quick meal. Quad biking and banana ride was out of the world experience. Snorkelling was a big challenge for person like me who can’t swim at all. But no problem, the instructors were very helpful and patient with me and I am glad I could experience it. Very happy with my stay and activities.

We had a great time. The Resort Unit was perfect. The beaches and water were beautiful. Loved the para-sail and quad bike tours. The only recommendation I could make, to improve the Resort, is to have more food options for those that cannot eat a lot of salt.

Incredible getaway. The island is beautiful. Family 👪 friendly, so many activities to choose from, and reasonably priced. We enjoyed every minute of it. The experience was awesome. Our room is great! Only downfall is no clocks, so have to keep going for the phone for the time for tours. The view is spectacular and we'll be back in summer for sure (with kids next time). The activities are in abundance and all staff are really happy, friendly and helpful.

This was our first visit, unfortunately not great weather. The staff were all great in all areas. The dolphin feeding a highlight. Being a middle aged couple, we found it was more suited to a younger party crowd and families. The accommodation is a little old now but comfortable. Enjoyable for what we were able to do in the weather we had.

Tangalooma was an absolute dream of an adventure. The resort has so many activities for all ages and the beach is truly spectacular. I participated in the quad bike tour which was super fun and the experience was amazing and the staff are super friendly and passionate about what they do. It brings a huge smile to everyone. Whether you are staying at the resort or just a daytrip like myself there is something to do for everyone. I was lucky enough to go on a scenic helicopter flight which was absolutely stunning and I felt so blessed to have the opportunity to see the island from high above from one side to the other.

Beautiful place for one day stay or few days vacation. Crystal clear blue water open sky, fresh air and white sand. Bush walking in rainforest. Wild Dolphins feeding is amazing experience. Other attractions such as pelican feeding & Kookaburras feeding. Quad bike tour, snorkelling, surfing, clear bottom kayaking, night boat tour. Whale watching and seaway.

Haven't stayed there yet, really needed to stay there for a week to do all the tours. That said the "marine discovery tour" was amazing. It goes for 2 hours. There you'll see fish, turtles and other marine life. The boat for the tour boards from the beach, so be prepared to get your feet wet.

  • 2/5 Damadian 1 year ago on Google
The resort looks rundown and ugly in some areas. The sand dune desert safari is fun but you only get 2 turns tobogganing down the dunes before time is up. The quad bikes are slow and it feels more like a quad bike safety lesson then a fun quad bike adventure. They need to go faster and stay out longer, the track is fun but the quad bike instructors go so slow you can't make use of it.

The island is beautiful! The food is not very good like you present it on your website. Food is the same All the time and it doesn’t change. The only good restaurant for whole resort is Fire and Stone. You need to renovate the whole place. Customer service is very poor. Not enough sign around the place. Everything is overprice.

3 days of eating reading sleeping swimming and sunbathing. What else could you ask for. Very relaxing. Food prices as you would expect but large portions. Plenty to do if you want. Staff friendly and whole trip covid safe. All in all a worthwhile getaway.

Great room with an amazing view! The walls are paper thin tho as we could hear our neighbors phones going off and TV. Staff there were very friendly and helpful, Recommend bringing a chiller with food as not many options there. The snorkel tour and dolphin feeding were the best !
