You can find "Schloßberg" in the middle of Graz and minimum once you should go to the top if you’re here in Graz. You can reach it from several ways, by elevator, by cablecar, by foot. The panorama walking trail is the longer way if you'd like to see everything on the hill, but we choosed this solution. It started in the beginning with the stairs near the entrance of the tunnel from southwest side. The view is exceptionally beautiful to the city and mountains. The only once negative is that in many places the stones and walls are ful of graffiti, unfortunately can't do anything with this, it's just sad. Wherever possible, I removed these graffiti from the pictures what I upload, restoring the original version, what should have seen. You can find restaurants, beer terrace, the clock tower, casemate (where they also organize concerts), playground, statues, amazing view, elevator, a big pipe, where you can slide down from the hill. We definitely recommend to visit the hill.

A wonderful place to visit. There are several options for getting to it: stairs or an elevator, there is even a slide when going down. The tunnel to the elevator and the elevator are modern, even futuristic. At the top, you will be greeted by a wonderful panoramic view of Graz and the surrounding area. A lot of buildings that have historical weight, a restaurant, a covered concert space - during the summer there are performances by classical musicians who perform selected works, even two bars and a museum. Before leaving, check the opening hours of the museum. The gardens are beautifully landscaped. Going down the stairs is a special experience, and I definitely recommend it. In order not to break the spell with a detailed description and my own impressions, in the end I am only free to give my warm recommendation to everyone to visit this wonderful place.

Beautiful castle hill, located right in the middle of old town. I got to witness beautiful spring colors on my way up. The view of the city from the hill is marvellous. I took an amazing underground slide on my way back. It’s the largest underground slide in the world. Lasts for about 40 seconds. Ticket is just 6 euro.

The view of the staircase with the tower at the top is beautiful. And thankfully there is a lift to get up there.

My visit to Schlossberg Graz in 2018 was an unforgettable experience that showcased the historical charm and natural beauty of this Austrian landmark. Perched high above the city of Graz, this iconic castle hill offers breathtaking panoramic views, historical sites, and a tranquil escape from the bustling city below. The ascent to Schlossberg was an adventure in itself. I opted for the Schlossbergbahn funicular, which provided a scenic and comfortable journey to the top. Alternatively, one can choose to climb the stairs or hike through the lush greenery, which adds an element of excitement and exercise to the visit. Arriving at the top, I was greeted by awe-inspiring vistas of Graz and its surroundings. The view from the Clock Tower was particularly enchanting, offering an unobstructed view of the red rooftops, historic landmarks, and the majestic Schlossberg Park below. The park itself was a serene haven, with beautifully landscaped gardens, hidden pathways, and charming nooks that invited me to sit and soak in the tranquil atmosphere. It was a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a picnic amidst nature's splendor. Exploring the historical sites on Schlossberg was like delving into the city's past. The ancient ruins of the original castle, the Bell Tower, and the Glockenspiel added a touch of nostalgia and a sense of connection to the history of Graz. In addition to the history and natural beauty, Schlossberg also featured a few cozy cafes and restaurants, allowing me to indulge in delicious local cuisine while savoring the stunning backdrop. The accessibility of Schlossberg, with multiple entry points and options to suit every visitor's preference, makes it an attraction suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. In conclusion, Schlossberg Graz is a must-visit destination that combines history, nature, and panoramic views in a truly captivating manner. The experience of being on top of the world and immersing oneself in the city's rich heritage makes it a five-star attraction in my book. If you find yourself in Graz, Schlossberg is an absolute highlight that should not be missed.

Absolutely amazing experience!!! An elevator inside the mountain with a slide down for those who want to try that. The view is amazing, restaurants on top, which was necessary after walking for so long in the heat. Sat drinking wine with a perfect view over Graz! Will be back

This place in emojis: 🌅🕰️🚞🌇🥾⭐🥂💯 And In words: absolutely stunning view of the city and easily worth spending half a day there. So many options for all fitness levels to get up and down: up by escalator (€2.50 one way), by hiking (30-40 mins)/jogging (10-30 mins - only cardiomaniacs). Once you made your way up, you have a café, a restaurant and many attractions incl the clock tower (Grazer Uhrturm), THE landmark of Graz to get amazed by. To get down you can pick the same method as to get up plus .... ... ⭐PRO TIP : take the slide down. It'll be 45 seconds the fun section of your brain and possibly your tummy will remember 💫

A really magnificent and picturesque place. We opted for walking up the stairs (alternatives being the delivery service or the cable lift). The cold wind didn't help our cause! The stairs felt almost infinite and quite steep. And then we arrived at the top! What an amazingly enchanting place with a unique and interesting history. And the hill itself doesn't only hold the Schloss and the clock tower but a beautiful plateau, lush gardens, a restaurant and the most amazing view of Graz.

Very nice place for an afternoon walk. The view on the city is beautiful and there are a few different options when it comes to food and drinks. If you don't want to walk up, there is also an elevator and a cable car.

Beautiful view of the city. Very affordable elevator to the top if you have small children or accessibility needs. We were there at 12:00 and it was beautiful to hear all the church bells ring across the city from up above.

An absolutely beautiful place. It’s about a 2k round walk but one which shouldn’t be missed on your trip to Graz. You get stunning views of the city and access to gardens to walk around. There are also cafes and restaurants at the top. 10/10 place, just beautiful!

Great views over Graz. We had iced coffee at the cafe whilst taking in the view. You can walk up (mostly stairs) but it was a hot day so we took the elevator up and walked down (or you can slide down).

We went in the afternoon/evening as a big group. The whole atmosphere was amazing, some chose to climb up and some to take the elevator. Some of us even opted to go up and down with the slide and back up again. (It's good to have all these versatile options for individual needs) The slide was amazing, I've never seen anything like it and it was so much fun! The night view from on top of the Schlossberg was also amazing. I can definitely recommend going up once during the day and once for the night view.

Going up the stairs might not be the best idea for everyone but that's why you have an elevator. You can easily buy a two day ticket or you walk down on the other side and also check out the city park (it's not far). It's the best attraction in Graz and offers a wonderful view over the city. A lot of spots where you can chill and hang out with your friends in warm months. Great restaurants and sometimes events as well. Worth exploring.

Nice place to walk with different paths and stairs. You have a good view of tje city. You would expect the bars would be more expensive but for a good half liter beer you pay the same as somewhere else.

Important historical place of the city, and good for a nice walk. If you are lucky usually there are some artists playing instruments next to the clock. Nature is really wonderful and panorama view fantastic 😊

If you wanna see one of the most beautiful sunset (or sunrise for the brave) of Graz, I really recommend to join the top 🙌 This was the first view I saw when I went to this city for my Erasmus and I can only be in love of this place

Very beautiful, we went up walking and enjoying the scenery. It is a long walk that can be done by stairs too, the option of going up by elevator is offered, value of 4€.

There are really a bunch of things to see and beutiful trails. If you want to walk to the top of the hill, you'll probablly need about 10 minutes to a restaurant The reaturant is good but there is no wifi, you can only, maybe, catch the free graz wifi.

  • 2/5 Gini S. 1 year ago on Google
Nothing special, I didn't really like the view of the city. Spent €4 for the lift and probably no more than 10 minutes up top. If you feel like taking a walk and the weather is nice, go up on foot, however getting there just for the sake of visiting it is, in my opinion, not really worth it (even though it's like the most popular place of Graz).

The well known Schlossberg. I recommend taking the cable car up the mountain and walking down the mountain. You can enjoy the different views and you won't be tired going down the mountain.

Really amazing place. Worthy to see. You can hardly see anything like this anywhere else. The park with historical building on the top of the city. Very catching views if you are lucky with weather.

  • 5/5 Maciej P. 11 months ago on Google
There are some ruins and some additional cafes and other entertainment here but the most amazing thing are the views. Definitely recommend if the weather is good, can be visited by foot/elevator/cable car without additional entrance fee.
