This is our trip to Austria and I wanted to try a castle hotel. Found this place on the internet and booked an introductory 4 night castle vacation through their site. Really have no idea of what it will be like before we went. The hotel is in a very tiny village, but the hospitality and the food completely blowed us away. They upgraded us to a tower suite, really an unbelievable place. We felt like we are living in a place where you can only see in a European oil painting. The weather is not very cooperated, but we have done almost everything from hiking, gondola ride to the beautiful mountains and biking through the beautiful Austria country side. I cannot ask for a better 4 day stay than this. The food and wine are very amazing to us. Every meal is a Candle light meal. Many thanks for various help from the host. Austria is a great vacation spot and Schloss Thannegg makes it even a better vacation spot.

We enjoyed our 2nd visit to Schloss Thannegg. It is a wonderfully restored castle now operating as a hotel. They are very welcoming and provided lots of advice on the local activities, including hikes, tours, etc.

We are a family of 4 with two kids over 10 years old, stayed at the hotel to have a 2 nights break on the way home. We wanted to try something new and came through hotel Schloss Thanneg. Based on the pictures and the reviews on google and trip advisor, we knew that it is a place worth to try, After staying in so many overrated, dirty (4 and 5 star) hotels this summer, we just hoped that we found a nice, relaxing and clean place. The hotel is a refurbished castle and everything was made to preserve its original features. The rooms are nice and cosy, the bedding and the towels are clean white. Real white, not the overly used half-grey ones that you wonder how many people used it and if it was washed properly. The beds were comfi and we could actually open the windows to let some air in. Breakfast was very nice and very good quality! The hotel has a nice cellar where you can stay and relax with a drink on a self-service basis. There is also a nice spa area with sauna and relaxation room. Despite we had a very cold and rainy weather, we went out to discover the nearby towns and went up to the mountains too. We had a very nice stay and would like to thank to the Lady of the Castle (Frau Schrempf) to made our stay so nice and welcomed!

Everything perfect! Just a Fairy tale hotel in the middle of the Austrian Alps mountain range.

Excellent stay at this hotel. Very special schloss atmosphere, extremely kind staff, delicious food, great selection of breakfast. Beds are very comfortable too. Quiet place. Will return for sure.

We had a lovely experience here! Incredibly friendly staff and cozy rooms. Kitchen staff was also very accommodating when it came to vegetarian preferences or smaller portions. Just five minutes away from a wide array of ski slopes. Would recommend to singles, couples, and families alike.

Great welcome ! The place is beautiful, the scenery is great, and the food is delicious. The breakfast buffet is just insane :) With the hotel you get free access to many mountain lifts and other advantages. But most of all, I have rarely seen such nice and welcoming people ! I'll have to come back.

Thank you to Katharina and all at Schloss Thannegg, what a wonderful place! We had a week-long fantastic break staying at the castle, it was out of season so unfortunately we didn't get to experience the food (restaurant is closed out of season), but on the plus side we had the whole castle almost to ourselves! Our boys loved roaming around, the whole place has been lovingly restored and is prefect for either a relaxing romantic break, or in our case as a base for mountain walking and outdoors activities. Location is perfect, you can get to the nearest 2,000m mountains by foot and their are all sorts of adventure activities locally accessible and free or discounted with the Sommercard. We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom apartments - cosy and warm - kids will love it. We will definitely be back again when it is in-season so we can try out the food! Hope the family party on Sunday was a success! Thank you again for a wonderful stay and all your help!
