You must go there and see. Absolutely gorgeous (that was a pun) It is a massive gorge, of the likes you see in Yellowstone with a pristine stream flowing through. Reminded me a lot of Colorado.

We had a rainy day, the hiking was still great! I can only recommend this trail. The gorge itself is not difficult, although a sense of balance is recommended. There are sections where one may need to climb, etc.

Hiking through the Ötschergräben, also known as the Ötscher Gorge, is an absolute delight for nature enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers. Located in the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park in Austria, this hike offers a truly immersive experience in the heart of untouched wilderness. The well-maintained trail winds its way along the mesmerizing gorges, pristine waterfalls, and crystal-clear streams, providing hikers with breathtaking vistas at every turn. The tranquility of the surroundings and the soothing sound of rushing water create a serene atmosphere that's perfect for those seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. In terms of facilities, the Ötschergräben hike offers visitors a relatively rustic experience. The trail is well-marked and maintained, but it's essential to be prepared with appropriate hiking gear, sturdy footwear, and adequate supplies. There are some basic rest stops along the way where you can take a break and enjoy a picnic. However, amenities like restaurants and shops are limited in the immediate vicinity, so it's advisable to bring your own food and water. While this hike may not have the conveniences of urban parks, its raw and unspoiled beauty more than compensates for any lack of modern facilities. Exploring the Ötschergräben is an opportunity to reconnect with nature and relish the simplicity of the great outdoors.

they call it the Austrian Grand Canyon. slightly exaggerated, nevertheless you will experience beautiful sceneries. a narrow path leads you along the river through a canyon. there are couple of waterfalls on the way and a buffet hut. one of my favorite hikes.

Incredibly beautiful place. Absolutely crowded since we visited on a public holiday. Plenty of space for our camper van in the night. Super quiet night and so many stars visible. Only con was the outside toilet. Needed a proper clean, and overflowing stinking trash can in the ladies room. The toilets inside the restaurant are better, but very cramped space. Almost too small to navigate with two small kids.
