Devrai Art Village is not more than two-and-a-half hours away from Pune A day visit to Devrai is a joyous experience in itself! The place is literally the melting pot of tribal culture. The local artists collaborate among themselves to create beautiful artifacts, brass paintings, statues, rock dhokra and more. These exclusive knick-knacks are made and available in iron, brass, stone, wood, bamboo and fabric. A brainchild of Mandakini Mathur, the products at Devrai strike a beautiful balance between the rural and the urban worlds. It’s fresh, and has a story to tell. Artforms of pot dhokra and tumba craft are practised by certain groups out here. We loved their collection of brass fittings in shapes of miniature figurines, starting at INR 2,500. Interesting lamps in wood and terracotta, starting at INR 3,000 are another set of eye-catchers. If you’re looking for something unique and artsy for your outfit, you must check out their collection of silver pendants in shapes of flowers, turtles, faces, symbols and fascinating patterns. I travel and write. Be a part of my journey @shikhaanair on Instagram

A must visit place, if you are an art lover, and happen to go to Panchgani & Mahabaleshwar. It's closer to Panchgani. The kind of art they have on display & sale there is outstanding, with a very wide range of prodcuts & prices, to suit every pocket.

A unique place in Panchgani worth visiting for stone and metal decor pieces, jewellery, etc. You can see the workshop and how these handmade things are created. Things might seem pricey but it's worth, considering the effort and the time that goes in the process. It's a wonderful initiative for saving an indigenous artform 'Rock Dhokra'. A must visit place for art and craft lovers.

A quaint and beautiful gallery of handcrafted artefacts made by local artisans. The artform exhibited here is Rock Dhokra, which is a fusion of metal and stone. Loved the feel of the bungalow, designed in contemporary style architecture. You can also witness the entire process of the artwork if you go a little down the hill, takes around 10 mins to reach there. A must visit for art enthusiasts!

Devrai art village is an NGO where trained locals work with metals like brass and iron also with clay . They do everything right from melting the metal to giving it shape to presenting it in different forms and you can see them working in their workshops which is spread in the lap of nature. The artists are very friendly and knowledgeable. You can buy things made by them :)

Great ambience and art to ‘look’ for amidst nature. They have managed to restore mother nature, while keeping the art alive. Had wonderful time, walking around the reserve. Apart from that not much to buy, but good visit

“Devrai Art Village” it's a perfect place for solitude, creative enlightenment & to find peace of mind. Devrai Art Village is a non profit initiative to connect with nature and to celebrate creativity. A core group of highly skilled Adivasi craftsmen and artists from the naxalite affected areas of Gadchiroli & Chattisgarh find a livelihood and a safe refuge in Panchgani. They have sculptures made from iron, brass, stone, wood, bamboo fabric & jwellery made with precious or semi-precious stones & hand made paintings with small pieces of bronze art engraved into the paintings which gives very unique look. it's a fabulous setup with amazing human's & beautiful work.

Very creative a place to spend your time and money. They conduct an art workshop for visitors, for those who want to create their own canvas art with brass stick ons.

It's a perfect place for people who love art. They have an amazing collection of brass paintings, artefacts, statues, etc. They have planted a variety of plants, shrubs & creepers throughout the village. There is a workshop situated in the village where one can directly interact with the artisans and learn more about the craft.

Accidentally reached this place not knowing that we would be completely astounded by the amazing art being created at Devrai Art Village. Had the opportunity to interact with the very humble founder Ms Mandakini who has played a quintessential role in reviving an art, providing livelihood to artesenals and craftsmen, creating a platform for art and nature lovers to have this experience of a lifetime. Can't wait to visit again for a workshop.

A gem hidden away waiting to be discovered.. the art gallery, though small, is mesmerizing. Artifacts are handmade by local folks associated with the NGO under the careful supervision of senior artists. The creativity is just awesome. Items range from small amulets to large murals. They even do make to order stuff. The owners are warm and accommodating. We reached after closing hours and they still took time to explain things to us.. definitely a must visit.

Quite a find in Panchgani. Mandakini and her husband started this place in 2008 as an artist’s village to make traditional crafts like brass casting contemporary. They have a workshop and experiment with the list wax casting method. Several people from the JJ School is Assets in Bombay come and work or learn here. Durga is one of them.

Amazing amazing place. A refreshing change from art galleries you might have been to. Dhokra, which is stone with metal, is really worth giving a look. Mandakini & Atul will take you around the workshops and show & explain everything to you. Interact with the artisans, hear their stories and passion. And the resident doggies allowing you to pet them is a bonus.

Nice quiet place for an art gallery. Well kept with friendly staff. They have their workshops below and one can witness how the art pieces are made. The good part is quiet trail walk down to the workshop.
