Great place for a nice meal. We visited twice - lunch one day, dinner another. Both times we were early diners, and wait staff were friendly and helpful.

One of our favourite places on the island. We just kept coming back for more. We love the very laid back "island" atmosphere but what takes your breath away first is the view through palm trees of the beautiful ocean and sunsets . Cocktails on the beach with toes in the sand and wow those chilli margaritas are to die for. The food is gorgeous, full of flavour and well presented. Hands down the best calamari on the island. Service is great and so friendly. Chose here for our final evening. We miss you!!!!! But will be back.

Stunning vibey sunset spot. Feels like you’re in a tree house surrounded by lush beautiful coconut trees. Maritime decor adorns every corner of this restaurant/bar tastefully and presumably lovingly curated. Amazing atmosphere, great music, excellent staff. Food? Better than average for Rarotonga, slightly pricey (as is most on the island). 4+ stars from me

This place is SPECIAL! A real "ramshackle" beach bar and restaurant, with fantastic sunsets. Chris, the owner, is one of the most interesting guy's you'll ever meet, amiable and a great storyteller. And the stories are real! Best Margarita on the island! The food is exquisite, there's live entertainment a couple of nights a week. You must go! Update, May23. Continues to be just epic! Update Nov23. Even more betterer!

I drove away from this restaurant trying to think of a worse meal i have had at any other restaurant in my life.... i am very sorry but i could not. I ordered the beef curry (very spicy), but it was tough, full of gristle, bland and the sauce was thin and watery. I could not finish it. It also should have come with roti and a papadam, which it did not.... (pic attached). I also ordered the special for my entree which was three pieces of sashimi for $25 with soy sauce and 4 spots of wasabi. This was overpriced for this. Another family member had the fish of the day which she could not finish because it was over-cooked. Another family member had the Fish and Prawn Tempura which was 3 prawns and 3 nibbles of fish all coated in a tempura batter, which the batter was soggy on all pieces. Only one of our table liked their meal, they had soup for entree and ribs for their main. We definitely did not want to try our luck with any desserts. The location was very nice, right on the beach. Our waitress said they see whales a lot from here. She was a very nice person. It was the food that was severely lacking here...

On our last night we decided to go to Waterline, it was great to listen to some 60's 70's music 🎶 (for a change) and its right on the beach. Coctails, wine and food was delicious 😋 . Highly recommended don't leave it until your last night like we did coz you'll want to go back 🍷🙂👌

Probably one of the top 3 restaurants on the island. We didn't have a booking but they were able to accommodate us and even with a table overlooking the beach. The menu was limited but delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful with selections. We had a number of starters, with the tuna and chicken fpr mains. Their lemon cake dessert was one of the best desserts I've ever had. The prices reflect the quality of the food, but their happy hour cocktails were cheap and delicious.

This place has the best island fries! The cocktails we had were also very tasty and quite cheap. There's also a cute cat that comes to say hello to you as you're eating. Great atmosphere and awesome decoration around the restaurant, chill vibes and lovely staff.

Came here for a birthday dinner. Book ahead if you want to come during sunset hours - they’re often fully booked. We came after the sunset and the restaurant was still very busy. Parking can get tight during dinner service. Food was delicious and the portion sizes were very generous, although the prices are higher than most other restaurants on the island.

What a beautiful restaurant! We were here for sunset and the colours were beautiful. We felt like we were immersed in a jungle and could walk out onto the beach - very cool vibes. Unfortunately, the vibes ended there. We were disappointed with the service and the food we ordered. We waited over 2 hours for our mains and had to ask multiple times whether they were coming. They did have a big table in the restaurant but they clearly didn’t prioritise our table and there wasn’t much in the way of an apology, more them using this table as an excuse for the lack of service. When our meal eventually did come out, one of our meals (the ribs) managed to be over cooked, while simultaneously being cold. The other three meals we had were fine but didn’t compare to any of the other meals we had while we were in Rarotonga.

We stumbled into this place and loved it. Super relaxing with great views. Fish curry is awesome and the staff are all great as is the service.

The place is beautiful and you can hear and see the ocean while you are eating. And the staff was super nice and helpful. And the animals are fun. But unfortunately the food and the drinks were not good. The Dark and Stormy tasted more like ginger beer with no rum, the NZ ribeye steak was well done instead of medium rare as I had asked. And the lemon cake was super dry and I don't believe it was fresh from today. So accordingly the prices are way to high.

The Waterline is an iconic destination in Raro with gorgeous views and one of a kind decor, you feel like you’re in a tropical tree house. Unfortunately the food, drinks and service don’t quite live up to the location or the price. The cocktails were quite terrible, the dark and stormy tasted like liquorice, the espresso martini wasn’t shaken enough and half empty and we had another one which was not at all memorable. The calamari had a nice dipping sauce but just tasted of thick fried batter. The sizzling chicken plate was so bland and watery. When ordering the beef curry we were asked how spicy we would like it so we said hot and were warned the chef was Indian so it would be Indian hot. The curry arrived and it was mild and bland with dry meat, clearly made in a big batch and not spiced to our taste. This was our most expensive meal in Raro but the worst food and drinks of our trip. It’s a shame as the location is one of kind but I’d avoid the cocktails and food and only come here for a beer

Booked a table for one at the Waterline Restaurant and was stoked to be sat in a prime spot with amazing sun set views. Such lovely hospitality. Really enjoyed my meal and loved the atmosphere the owners have created here. Thank you for a wonderful meal

Found down an unassuming pathway, Waterline was a really pleasant surprise. Really laid back vibe, beautiful sea and beach view for sunset, delicious food, great service and the anti daiquiris were just perfect! No watered down cocktails here! Definitely worth a visit!

With hanging glass buoys, a cat snoozing on the railing and a haphazard feel to the wooden decking, The Waterline Restaurant & Bar has all the makings of a nautical bar. While the environment has you expecting sun-weathered sea dogs telling tall tales of the one that got away as they nurse cups of sailor’s grog, the reality is lots of Kiwi families with noisy, young children. The kids keep running up and down the stairs to the beach, where there seems to be a large pile of rubbish positioned right in front of the restaurant, perhaps to burn off in a future bonfire. Taking a deep breath, I ordered some garlic bread (NZ$10) that arrived dry and crusty with a pot of garlic aioli that made it work. In the libations I tried to respond to the architecture with a Dark & Stormy (NZ$14) but it looked and drank like the weather was mildly inclement. The catch of the day (NZ$36) proved to be rock cod. Flaking nicely into creamy, white curls when touched with a fork, it was enjoyable against stiff potato mash that made me think of Deb Instant Mashed Potato, and an eclectic medley of local vegetables sautéed with the odd wedge of tinned pineapple. It actually wasn’t a bad dish, though priced as fine dining when the experience was anything but.

👍👍 We took a risk and decided to try this place out as we were a little worried the prices could make it an expensive night out. But we were pleasently surprised! The food was exceptional, the views incredible and the staff friendly, helpful and attentive. We will certainly be back here again.
