I take my parents there every year to buy flower salt, also known as the caviar of salt, due to it being hand-cultivated amongst other factors. We got to see two of the local birds on the salt flats as we walked around them. You can also go for a little salt therapy as you unwind in the salinated water under the beautiful skies alongside the salt flats. It's an amazing place; well worth the visit. Just please remember to not leave any litter behind and respect the environment upon which you tread.

There is not much to see especially on a rainy Monday morning. I don't advise people to walk to this museum because there is not a decent sidewalk.

Good place to learn how salt is extracted from the sea. Beside the only "Marinha de sal" still active in Aveiro.

Actually seeing the salt pans is less impressive than what you think. Maybe if we visited in summer when the salt collection process is ongoing, it would be more interesting. In October it’s mostly mud.
