We thought it was only a few roads with umbrellas (which we loved), but then we got a special map from the tourist office. The town was full of little artistic and colorful gems. So much fun to explore.

A must visit! Águeda is so beautiful. I believe it’s the original umbrella sky project which has been replicated in other cities like the Pink Street in Lisbon. I want to go back in May, does anyone know if the umbrellas will be up or if there will be other art installations set up?

We came to Agueda to see the umbrellas but the only the ones by the hostel were up. We were disappointed but we did enjoy exploring the city using the app with all of the artwork locations as a scavenger hunt. We discovered the app at the tourism info centre and used the free wifi to download. Some of the app locations are misplaced and we had trouble finding a few. Some of the locations had interactive elements where the artwork became animated. Very clever. Overall it was a great way to explore the city.

What a beautiful event the city puts on for the month of July! The streets were decorated with thousands of colorful umbrellas and made for some great views and needed shade in the hot summer. We listened to some local bands set up on the stage, enjoyed delicious food at the stalls set up and enjoyed just strolling the streets . Can’t wait to visit again.

Today the stunning brightly coloured Águeda & Umbrella Sky Project, Urban Street Art & pretty park. We introduced Teanna to our favourite cafe on coloured rain street with probably the largest cachorro (hot dog) one can consume. We followed up with traditional Portuguese cakes in the park and tasty icecream in the glorious sun. Magical perfect day despite a horrendous toothache from hell!

Visited for Agitagueda. I make a point of visiting at least once during the 3 weeks of July. Weekends are special.i love the Carnival which parades down the main street and has hundreds of participants, many interactive with the spectators and children, with many samba groups larger than life characters and a huge moving dragon. This year I specifically came to watch,'The Stranglers' perform at night which was a fantastic non stop hour and half of top quality music. The atmosphere is great for all ages.

The art project has added a spot of color and culture to a small town off the beaten path. You'll find a few other installations as you comb the streets.

Cool city to visit with lots of color and a artistic vibe. The walk along the river is pleasant and there are things to do for everyone. Stop by the Tourismo building downtown to get information on What's available.

This place is surprisingly beautiful! A romantic town with colourful umbrellas everywhere :) you can explore this colourful area within a 2-hour relaxing walk. There are quite a few restaurants, cafes and shops around if you need to take a break.

👍👍 A nice small museum with trains that were given by Germany as part of reparations after the first world war and Portuguese trains produced not far from there. The tickets just cost 1-2 Euro and they include a tour which you definitely need to take.
