Visiting the castle was full of rich history. They are doing renovations so it will probably be even better when they are done. I love seeing history taken care of. There are still a lot of things to see. The Chapel was beautiful and learning about the history of this gem was amazing. Highly recommend a stop.

One of the coolest castles I've ever visited! Most castles don't allow you to really explore the innards, but this one does!

Couldn't say enough about this visit. Need to wear sneakers or tennis shoes for sure but absolutely loved this visit. Offered a video explanation of artifacts collected nearby and gave enough access throughout the castle to take home breathtaking photos. Felt the stories as we walked through. A must see! Relatively cheap...6 euros and kids over 4 free

Easy access with parking immediately outside the entrance. Tickets sold in the souvenir shop, although nobody checking tickets before entering the castle, adult entry is only €3 which goes toward funding renovation, so would recommend doing the right thing and paying. The castle is in good condition, lots of access and little stairwells to climb for tower access etc. Views from the castle offer typically excellent panoramic views. Souvenir shop prices were very reasonable. In the main hall there is an information video showing intermittently in Portuguese language. A worthwhile trip out from Porto.

We are here for the medieval fare which will be ongoing until the 14th of August. Wonderful experience at probably the best fare of its kind in Portugal.

Really well preserved piece of history. Definitely worth a visit and €3.00 entry fee to wander round and feel a bit of the crusaders 👊

Make sure they do not have an additional event on the day you wish to visit. We paid twice once to get into grounds once to get into castle ended up costing 10€ each instead of 5€. Castle ok nothing special

Beautiful space. Easy to get around (stairs to the tower were exactly that... Maybe not easy?) and read about what you are seeing. Was a good, cheap worth-it stop for our group of 8 (including 10-13 year olds).

Beautiful castle, its in repairs, but still we could see a lot, the Chapel inside is so well looked after and so much history. Worth a visit

If you can only visit one place in all of Portugal this it!!! Make sure to have at least 2 hours to see all the grounds. My fiance had a fantastic time here. They let you travel all over the castle with minimal off limits.

The castle is in fact a medieval palace, as very well explained to me by Vanda, who was at the entrance. Althought some parts are still being recovered, the palace is amazing and very well perserved. Keep the good work!

A wonderfully preserved Castle whose foundations go to the 10th century and saw layers upon layers or renovations and new tiers. Go to the underground tiny display of artifacts found on the premises from a broad range of centuries. Walk around the impressive battlements, and have a walk in the adjacent gardens.

The castle is located in an small forest very close to the city center. There is a free parking just in front of the castle for about 10-15 cars. From outside, the castle looks interesting and I had hopes for it. I was disappointed by what I found inside: few empty rooms and one room with chairs in front of a small TV. The place looked unkempt so in my opinion did not worth the visit or the 3 euro entrance ticket (which can be bought obky with cache as POS are not available).

Very cool castle that’s worth a stop if you’re in the area (or…say, tired of riding your bike up that damn hill and need a break).

Middle ages castle. No frills. Very much a military structure. Lots of active refurbishment in progress.

Gorgeous Castle which every year goes back into the past. History and a play is presented of actual Portuguese history. We didn’t see the Medieval Fair as it finished.

Haven’t been inside, but it’s very nice to walk up there and see the castle from all its sides. Plus there is a very nice park near by.

Amazing castle (undergoing restoration at the moment) huge amount of history here. Would like to have the opportunity to learn more about this fascinating place. Please note, tickets have to be paid for in cash.

Pretty cool castle, only saw it from the outside but the grounds I walked around and it was nice. Parking out front of the castle and more at the bottom of the hill.

It is one of the 3 medieval castles with this architecture and I had the opportunity to visit it, its structure is truly fascinating. Although I lack an explanation, a little more information ℹ️

Not too far from Porto, very cool to explore. Plan to spend about 45-60 min, it’s kind of small but worth it!

This Templar castle is a must see. The tickets were very reasonable and there were alot of areas to look at and explore. Amazing architecture.

Has quite a few things for kids to do but it was only open from 13.30-19.00 (not in the morning). Nice theater shows, dancing place and walking on trees. Ticket a bit expensive given that one needs to pay some activities inside. It was quite cold on the day we visited.

😠 A family event that is not kids friendly (eg. there are some steep slopes where children could fall). There are very few attractions to ride and the existing ones had a wait time between 60 and 90 minutes. Not worth a 7€ ticket
