My partner and I ended up in this nice restaurant where we had good food and drinks. The service was perfect, the venue was also very pleasant to the eyes. We enjoyed our time in the Spaniard, but the down-point was the music. It was very loud to start with, and the choice of commercial spanish auto-tuned music was not really matching the general atmosphere of an intimate moment you're supposed to spend with people. I would come back for the food, hoping some evolution on that front !

This restaurant could not be faulted 5/5! Every dish and every cocktail was worthy of 5 ⭐️’s, the service and wait time was second to none. I to was apprehensive about this place due to previous reviews, but do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a night out at The Spaniard you won’t be disappointed!

Good dining environment and atmosphere. The meals are delicious, but the Spanish dishes are usually small so the average personal consumption will be higher.

We had a big party booked for a night out in the Spaniard. On first impressions I wasn't sure how it was going to go. The staff were really friendly and helpful, the upstairs area was a little cramped but made for a more enjoyable experience as we were all close and could chat more openly. This was my first experience of tapas and I was very impressed by the flavours and service from the team. The food was cooked really well and everyone had a great night. I can't wait for the next party to get arranged to go back to The Spaniard. Loved it!!

Definitely do not recommend coming to this place. My friend and I decided to try their squid ink paella as they had half price paellas every wed. According to the menu, it was supposed to have squid, scallops, prawns and aioli. However, the whole dish had only 2 piece of squid, prawns respectively but no scallops to be found. When we decided to ask the waitress, they dismissed us by saying that because it is 50% off so we need to cut cost as scallops are very expensive which was UNACCEPTABLE. The amount of seafood in the paella was so stingy and even the portion size was not even that much though the menu specified that it serves 2 people (not even enough for 2 girls to share). Overall, was so excited to try out but was left feeling very upset and disappointed with the staff and food.

Loved the place, my new favourite tapas bar in Perth. Staff are friendly, helpfull and eager to assist. The atmosphere is cosy and intimate, readily accessible upstairs and down. There is a lift to the upstairs bar where the dancing and the magic start after an awesome feast downstairs. Totally rocked out to a themed 80's night with a fantastic DJ. Loved the wall paper in the toilets👍👍👍

Great food and drinks. So far, the best sangria, chorizos, and churros I’ve tried in Perth. Service is very friendly however someone forgot about our order and we waited a lot for our food. I would definitely go back and give it another go :)

Lamb ribs were tender I think they wanna have some creativity on the squid ink paella, but maybe went a bit too far for the salad dressing on top?

Food good but the staff may need to have the word service translated into Spanish

The croquettes were AMAZING, patatas bravas were spicy but not that flavoursome, Iberian ham was fatty and not that flavoured as well, the paella Valencia was also lacking flavour/spice however the squid ink paella was DELICIOUS!! WE should have ordered more of that. Cocktails took forever to be made and delivered to our table - however the Pisco Sour was also delicious. The staff were extremely friendly & approachable however the wait for food and drinks was slightly ridiculous. The price for everything was also higher than normal and not necessarily worth it. Though it is a great location. Toilets are not disabled friendly.

Beautiful modern ambient mood and decor straight through the door, refined but relaxed. Fun and attentive waitstaff add to the slick experience which just builds from one delicious course to the next. Croquettes were the standout in a field of standout dishes but everything was sensational and when paired with good company and delightful drinks it’s a recipe for a memorable experience. Highly recommend.

Excellent food and wonderful staff- I felt right at home. Mood lighting for intimacy but I could see large groups there too. Upstairs looks like a function room, complete with bar. Will return for cocktails ! Desserts change every few weeks, and the croquettes change every week. I had the rice pudding with sweet dukkah and almond crisp 😋 and those croquettes! The paella is an excellent serving, more a group thing :)

I went on weeknight with a group of six. Really friendly atmosphere on arrival and presented a great option of essentially “bottomless” tapas. The food was amazing and perfect for the type of vibe we were after on the night. Sangria was refreshing and quick to arrive at the table. No time limit on the booking (which meant we could settle in and enjoy worry-free). A bit hard to find the restaurant in the city but definitely worth the search.

Had a great evening here with friends. Servings on the small side but more than made up for in taste. Triple fried patatas bravas are a standout. Great service and even had an impromptu mini wine tasting to help us choose our drink.

We ordered seafood Paella for two, and were so so disappointed. The shrimp, mussels, clams, and squids were overcooked dry and the rice was also dry and very very salty. The croquettes were not very good either, it’s overly sweet, with only 3 or 4 pieces of corn and chicken mostly cheese. It was the worst paella we have ever had. It was definitely not worth the money ($48 aud). We will never go back and would never recommend to the paella to anyone. Two stars only because the service was good.

Amazing food. Eco conscious, doesn't give straws with every drink and has paper straws available

Food, service and beverages were absolutely fantastic! The overall dining experience was phenomenal. We had croquettes, garlic prawns and pork belly bites and was some of the best food we’ve had in a long time!

Amazing little place, food was delish and the G&T I ordered was huge! We ordered 3 drinks, 3 tapas and a paella to share and left with very happy tummys and wallets. The young lady that served us was fun and helpful. Overall impeccable service. Highly recommend this place

Was really looking forward to having dinner here after recommendations, however staff were busy, took ages to get even water or a drink and when our order was take they neglected important details. We requested everything gluten free and was given flat bread, unfortunately expecting everything was gluten free I ate it (I’m coeliac)…..Only found out nothing served to us was gluten free when I asked the waiter to double check if our other dish was gluten free. Paid for our drinks and left will not be back and will not recommend to our friends.

Was excited to try out this place but was really disappointed with the welcome we received. Three couples, over 40, looking for a nice pkace for a drink and something to eat, told we needed to move on in 20 minutes, no explanation and when asked if there was a problem told we were rude and aggressive, guy in charge needs to have a serious look at himself, would never go back or recommend, plenty of other places in Perth, give this one a miss

So sad to see Sorrento was gone, however danty lil Spanish place now , beautiful food full of flavour. only small things , perhaps ask when tables order tapas if they would like them all at once or each one served different times, and mayo could be served on the side instead of each course ( again that's personal opinion. highly recommended 👌 def will be back. Love the bull in the middle of the restaurant!

Food was delicious, we ordered 4 tappas and the squid ink paela. The lamb ribs is probably the softest lamb ribs ive ever had! Super rich but delicious and my only gripe was i wish there was more seafood in. The paela because it was very nice. The scallops in the paela were sooo good and deliciously bouncy! We went as the doors opened so it was just my partner and i. The tapas came out very quick. Would defs recommend

A truly Spanish restaurant, you can find paellas and best jamon as well,of course Spanish wines. The staff are very friendly, price seems reasonable. Definitely recommend

  • 3/5 Deb N. 6 months ago on Google
Nice touch having Spanish staff to add to the authenticity but sadly, that's where it ended for us. The paella dishes for 2 were seriously lacking in content. We had a squid ink one that had exactly 2 prawns, 2 mussels, 2 scallops & 3 cockles to share. The lack of aircon also added to the sense of being very disappointed.

Unreliable. I had booked this place a month in advance and only 3 days before my birthday event they notified me that they cancelled my booking! When I emailed expressing my disappointment and how hard it would be to then find another venue to accomodate, I didn't even receive a response back let a lone an apology. I have dined here a couple of times before and find the staff to be unattentative and unhelpful. Food is good but service is not.

Had 3 types of paella paired with sangria. Food was lovely but what made the whole experience great was the warmth, friendliness and very accommodating staff called George...cheers!

Ordered several dishes and they were all amazing! The squid paella is a personal favourite as it is rich with flavour and is very delicious! I also enjoyed hamon which also tasted really good. The service was top notch! The Columbian waitress who served us clearly knows what to suggest and is very accomodating and hands-on to the the customers. The ambiance was also lovely and very chill. The music’s not too loud — it’s actually soothing. Anyone who’s reading this review should not think twice. This is the perfect place to be if you want to indulge in great food and quality service from the staff. We would definitely come back!

Nice place to go with friends for drinks and bites. I found the food quite average. The other Mexican restaurants I tried in Perth had better quality food, but it was ok. Friendly staff and nice cocktails.

First time eating at The Spaniard and I will definitively be back. We ordered almost all the tapas available and they were all great. I went with three Aussie male friends that can eat a lot and they all loved it and left the restaurant full and satisfied. The gin tonics are also nice, served in balloon glasses (not so common to find here). The staff were really nice, Jennifer made sure we had everything we needed, friendly and very helpful whilst also providing us with the space to enjoy our dinner. In summary, great tapas and lovely evening.

The blond American bar manager is the most condescending rude and egotistical person I have ever come across in my experience. I came to the Spainard on the suggestion of friends and my network and I was served with bar staff who did not know their products and referred to manger who treated me with the most disrespect I have ever experienced in Perth. I came here with my Partner for birthday celebrations, ordered drinks and when I inquired what the house gin was, was told I was too intoxicated even though this was the first bar we had visited for the night. They kept laughing and smirking at us during our interaction and when confronting them they kept laughing in our faces and refused us a refund of the drinks we refused to touch because of their service. I do not recommend this place nor ever visit this place ever again. Growing up in Perth this is by far the most prejudice place I have ever come across and I will never visit nor recommend.

great place but food servings not ideal for two people sharing. There are no share platters where you can get a bit of everything on one platter. Have to buy seperate. Had to buy two servings of paella as it was the minimum order.
