I recently had a three-day stay in Brain Stroke Rehabilitation at Midland Hospital due to my brain Neurological Functioning Disorder . While I appreciate the efforts of most of the medical staff, my overall experience left me with mixed feelings. On the positive side, the nurses and doctors were kind, helpful, and friendly. They provided the care and attention I needed during my stay, which I greatly appreciated. I would like to acknowledge their professionalism and dedication. However, there were certain aspects of my experience that were disappointing and concerning. I was surprised to discover that there were student doctors who seemed to be using me for their own research purposes without proper explanation or consent. It made me feel like a mere laboratory mouse, and I believe patients should be fully informed and given the choice to participate in such activities. Furthermore, on the third day of my stay, I encountered a nurse who displayed a rude and judgmental attitude. When I requested my own prescribed medication back , she refused to give it to me, citing hospital policy. While I understand the need for policies, her approach was insensitive and made me feel as though I was being accused of misusing my medication. As someone in a critical mental health condition, I expected to receive compassion and support, not to be treated like a potential drug dealer. In addition to this, I had an unpleasant interaction with a staff member from the kitchen. The individual handed me the menu in a rude manner, tossing it towards me. Considering my emotional state at the time, this behavior was disheartening and contributed to my overall negative experience. Moreover, I was informed by the neurologist specialist that I needed to consult a psychiatrist specialist. On the last day of my stay, a lady approached me, and I assumed she was the psychiatrist specialist. I proceeded to explain my situation for half an hour, feeling tense and under pressure. Only at the end did I realize she was a nurse, not a psychiatrist specialist. I had expected to consult with a psychiatrist specialist, and this revelation left me deeply upset. While I acknowledge the efforts of the majority of the staff and the kindness they showed, these negative encounters impacted my perception of the hospital. Patients should be treated with respect and empathy, especially during challenging times. Proper communication and clarity regarding the roles and expertise of medical professionals would greatly improve the patient experience. I hope that Midland Hospital takes this feedback constructively and works towards improving the areas that fell short of expectations. A more patient-centered approach, improved communication, and ensuring the presence of appropriate specialists would greatly enhance the overall experience. Note: This review is based on my personal experience and may not reflect the experiences of others.

The way my sister has been treated whilst pregnant and the misinformation given to her is nothing short of disgusting. She has been told her partner cannot come to ANY of her appointments or ultrasounds, he is only welcome at the birth. This being their first child has absolutely devastated them that he is being excluded from things with such importance to them both. Midland hospital has said these rules have been in play for 2.5 years, yet our family member had a baby a year ago there and her partner was aloud to every appointment - during the peek of the pandemic. Now they are saying the rooms are too small - what did they do before covid? Both are fully vaccinated and have agreed to wear masks and do everything necessary to allow him there, but are being told no and when caught out, making more excuses to not involve him. Lies upon excuses upon more lies. Do not recommend.

My wife had a 9-day stay in the public hospital starting with Emergency. We had to wait a long time to be seen by a doctor but that's fair enough given she wasn't technically emergency case and more serious patients had to be dealt with first. After reaching the ward (3D), it was clear that this hospital was special. The environment was great, easy to move around, plenty of patient facilities and (believe it or not), very good food. However, the people were simply amazing. Never have I encountered such caring staff that always made time to be with you, kept you apprised of developments and were genuinely friendly, in the way a close friend or family member might be. If this is the treatment you get from Midland Public Hospital, I so glad we couldn't afford to go public. I'd especially like to thank Linda, she is an absolute saint and a joy to spend time with.

Unsure why you deleted my review I posted yesterday; it was a good review, in fact I praised most of your staff for how great they were while I was in there for 4 days. I’m guessing it’s to do with the fact you didn’t want anyone seeing that a specific doctor/nurses negligent behaviour going into surgery was mentioned but unfortunately that’s exactly what happened. Unsure why you would remove my review because of that instead of training your staff on bedside manner and negligent behaviour

Horrible experience today at Emergency Department at Midland, i waited 4 hours to get consultation for my 4 years old son who was very ill. I understand the priority system in ED but this was extreme. I could see and tell who had life threatening conditions and who were least priority like my son, but everybody was served before him. Even if he was least priority, it must have been informed that it will take this much time. The average waiting time on screen was 1 hour and 20 minutes. On confrontation, a nurse casually said 'you can go if you want to go". Like really??!! I waited 4 hours just to have my son get more miserable. Thank you for your horrible service. Another sleepless night for my son today.

My review is not as flattering as others I have read. I recently had to bring my son to the hospital who was experiencing quite severe chest pain. I took him directly to emergency and I advised the nurse on our arrival that my son was experiencing chest pain. She did not advise any other medical staff of this. I had to gain the attention of a doctor myself to tell him what was going on. My son was taken in through emergency to be assessed. The doctor came out and saw me about 30 minutes later and told me he didn’t think it was serious thinking it was an abdominal problem. He told me that my son would be admitted for a proper assessment. My son had to wait a further 5 hours before being taken in for assessment whilst still experiencing chest pain. He asked for pain killers twice but they were not provided. I had to call the hospital myself to speak to a nurse in the emergency dept to tell her my son was in distress and pain and insisted he be given some sort of pain relief. He did eventually receive something. My son was eventually assessed. Blood tests and X-ray only to be told THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH HIM. He spent over 9 hours at the hospital only to be told that???? The report he received basically said it was stress??? He is a young fit sportsman. I don’t understand that diagnosis. It is quite obvious that the medical staff who attended to my son have no idea. Two days later my son is still experiencing chest pain. I am extremely angry and disappointed with what has happened. I would think that any patient regardless of age who presents to hospital complaining of chest pain would be assessed quickly and thoroughly??? Total incompetence in my opinion.

Caring staff all round. From the friendly door greeters(volunteers) on arrival - to the easy check-in and admission at Front Desk. Fast and responsive Nurses made the stay comfortable and recovery fast. Hospital food in the wards was good (healthy). A Cafe serving excellent coffee and snacks is on the ground level.

Went to emergency and taken through immediately, tests done within 7 hours. Ended up admitted to the hospital after 8 hours with chest pain, high blood pressure and very short of breath. My care by the nurses wasnt the best but 2 nurses in particular did look after me, unfortunately when it came to the doctors, feel I wasn't looked after. Was only seen to twice in 2 days for less than 15 mins. Blood pressure cuff fitting was left on for too long, I now have sores on my arm also told them I was allergic to adhesive but still had bandaids put on me so I'm now dealing with reactions. My husband wasn't allowed into the hospital which gave me horrible anxiety because of that I wanted to leave as soon as possible, even though my problem was not resolved. The hospital really need to look at their policies and the stress they put on their patients as well as more doctors need to be hired so that everyone gets the care that's needed.

I went to the emergency at 8pm, my partner was bleeding and needed stitches. I get that it was busy but bunch of people just kept coming in and going out we waited 6 hours, At this point the hospital was empty everyone was treated and left, my partner was in so much pain and couldn’t stay awake. Finally they took him in but kept him waiting inside for another 2 hours! We couldn’t wait anymore he was in pain and extremely tired waiting 8 hours!! Staff were so rude and treated us like we don’t matter, so disappointed at the service and how long we had to wait, at the end he was not treated because we left, we didn’t know if they were gonna keep us in for another god knows one week to get him stitched up. Left at 3:30AM God forbid! If something happened to my partner losing all that blood, would they be responsible for it? Will they finally wake up and maybe take peoples issues more serious? We will never come back to this place and I really don’t recommend it to anyone unless u wanna wait two days for them to figure out how to treat anything and treat u like u don’t exist! Would rate 0 if there was an option for it!!

Last night, I took my very sick 4 year old to the ED. She had a severe kidney infection over xmas and it appears all her symptoms are back. I didn't want to wait or take any chances, her fever was really high and not coming down and she was screaming of pain. We waited for 7 hours in the ED and she never got checked by a doctor. Never! I ended up taking her home at 1am because she needed to sleep and keeping her awake in the hope of seeing a doctor was just counter productive at this point, the nurse completely agreed with me. Let me be clear, this is not a complaint about the staff. Every nurse we talked to was nothing short of amazing, kind, caring and understanding. They were also clearly under enormous pressure with a doctor shortage and priority 1 patients that just kept coming in. I couldn't believe the sheer exhaustion, distress and compassion fatigue the nurses were under, not to mention the dozens of sick people who waited alongside us and never saw a doctor either.. It was an absolute chaos, the waiting room was overflowing and they had to create new waiting room areas...it seemed like doctors were nowhere to be seen. Appalling upper management, patient flow management, staffing issues, you name it, and both patients and nurses were paying the price. A shocking experience to say the least...

I had to take my 81 year old mother to emergency today with hip pain. I want say a heartfelt thank you to all the staff we encountered. Everyone of you showed us nothing but kindness, respect & compassion. My mother is legally blind & was so anxious & worried she’d be left alone. After some initial confusion I was allowed to stay with her. I cannot say how much that meant to my dear mother. Thank you especially to Jolene who went the extra step to get me in with mum. You are all awesome Thank you Vicky & my mum Sheila Morris

We presented to emergency at 2 AM with my daughter experiencing severe abdominal pain. She was given a panadol. It is now 11 AM. and in the 9 hours we have been here she has moved from the emergency waiting room to another chair in the emergency ward, no beds available. Doctor saw her after 5 hours, all that has happened in the 9 hours we have been here is triage, a blood test and a failed ultrasound due to her not being told to drink water prior. Cannot fault the nursing staff, however this is absolutely ridiculous and we still don't know what is wrong. It is no wonder people die waiting for help - You would not think we are in a first world country. DO BETTER!!!! EDIT - it was her appendix which were leaking fluid and could have burst at any time 😳. Once up in the ward everything went perfectly including the surgery, so need to add this half was flawless - thank you to the surgery team and ward staff. Just ED was a nightmare and also later found out she was triaged as a 'low risk/priority'....with a leaking appendix!?

Wonderful experience in the maternity ward today. I was in as a Gynae patient not to give birth and all of the nurses, anaesthetist, doctors, and lovely porter who took me down, and fantastic afternoon tea lady who came later were exceptional. My daughter has spent a lot of time in hospitals and that tea lady made her "the best Milo she's ever had". So there's kudos to you wonderful lady who obviously cares about people and takes great pride in your job. Thank you all for a positive hospital experience. x

i recently had a accident were i was dropped on my neck and was taken to midland hospital in extraordinary pain and no feelings in my legs. although some of the staff were quite comforting at times, my experience was overall unprofessional. i had a neck and spinal injury and was left waiting in the hallway on a bed for 6/7 hours in the most pain id ever felt, before been taken for scans… on top of that i had had no neck brace or any support placed on me… only 2 rolled up towels beside my head & no care was taken when i would be rolled on my side or moved. will never be attending midland hospital again.

Been back and forth to the ED in the last 2 weeks. Only get fluids for dehydration due to having HG during my pregnancy. After getting a letter from a doctor saying to look at me and admit me, that does nothing. Then their gynecologist team only work certain days of the week which you can get appointments for 2 weeks. No support or help from the staff just the same type of care and going back 4 times in 2 weeks is crazy. Not happy, now having to consider other options as I can't be cared for properly where it will cost me and put me out of pocket.

I am truly grateful to triage team, surgical team and nurses for providing me with the most amazing care for an urgent unexpected visit to the hospital. They were very efficient with getting my issue resolved in 24hrs. My nurse Erin in the day stay unit was absolutely incredible along with my other nurses who took care of me throughout my stay. I also want to highlight the RITZ program. It is such a useful resource the hospital has implemented. Thank you SJOG for the amazing duty of care.

I understand waiting times in the ED cannot be controlled but there must be something that can be done or looked into to help the flow of patients. I am anaphylactic to tree nuts, usually my reactions are extremely severe but instead this one was fairly mild. The nurses who looked after me in the waiting room were extremely lovely, made sure I was feeling okay and my symptoms were checked every hour or so. I wanted to be assessed by a doctor in case the reaction became severe as I felt extremely uncomfortable trying to monitor it at home as my symptoms were unusual. I was waiting for almost 5 hours before I finally got through to see a doctor, I was taken to a room my blood pressure checked the same questions asked over and over again about what I had eaten, symptoms I experienced and then the doctor came in finally, was asked the same questions again, had everything checked. He walked out and then came back in 2 minutes later saying well it’s been 6 hours since you experienced your first symptoms I am all good to go home. At the time it just felt like a waste of time waiting in that waiting room, freezing cold on these uncomfortable plastic chairs. The waiting time is just crazy I almost wished I had just stayed home. One nurse (unfortunately I don’t remember their name ) I am very thankful for, she seemed to genuinely care checking up on me every so often. Went as far to bring me a blanket & water. Was really lovely as she did was she could and I will forever appreciate that. I’ve definitely had a lot of ED hospital visits due to my allergy and this was genuinely the nicest nurse I have ever had.

Friendly, efficient, caring and thorough. We have visited emergency twice in the last few weeks, once with a 7 hour waiting list and once seeing Triage immediately. We have nothing but praise and admiration for everyone we encountered on both visits. They all do a great job under very difficult circumstances. Liz

My experience at SJOG midland was horrific. I had to be induced a week after my baby’s due date. They provided me with Prostaglandin E2 (cervidil). Later that day I had told my midwife that I had been getting a trickle and an odd coloured liquid on my pad. She did not check to see if my waters broke but ignored me and inserted the cervidil once again. This kept falling out and they inserted the SAME ONE 5 times after being washed out due to my water’s breaking. I had been in the hospital for 20hrs by this time. I do understand that without private health care your partner is not allowed to accompany you over night but being awfully rude and forcing my partner to leave and threatening to call security while my contractions were minutes apart and minutes long is another thing. The head midwife made the comment of “well maybe you shouldn’t take this on at a young age”. Immediately after I demanded another midwife. Half an hour later I had the thought come into my head that something isn’t right, my midwife had come in and I told her that the cervidil had fallen out once more. She had told me that they shouldn’t have been inserting it multiple times and took me to check my waters. Eventually I had found out that my waters broke 18 hours ago. She had asked them why hasn’t anyone been checking her after it had fallen out. The others said “she didn’t tell us anything”. I did but I was ignored. As a medical professional are you supposed to keep an eye on your patients or are they supposed to take care of themselves? 35 hours into my labour I had asked for the epidural as my contractions were getting worse. An hour and a half later he had came in to insert the epidural. He missed it twice and hit a vein… the third time he got it right. I was soon told that I had only dilated 3cm and once I was in active labour there was something wrong. He had to be monitored with an electrode as the ctg could not locate his heart. They told me I had the complication of Cephalopelvic disproportion and wanted me to deliver naturally. Mind you he was in distress and both of our heart rates were dropping. I decided to have a Caesarian as that’s what was best for the both of us. During the procedure I could feel the right side being cut open. I was unable to say anything because I was so weak and drugged up. When he was finally born they placed him on my chest and I could not bring my arm up to hold him. They forced him into my partners arms not being confident enough to hold him. Personally I do not recommend this hospital (SJOG MIDLAND) to anyone at all. I understand that sometimes doctors have a lot to do at once but that’s your job, you decided to take on that occupation, therefore you should most definitely do it right. the emergency department is also terribly slow. On average you will wait 3-4hrs

Midland ED at Triage is amazing, turning up at ED take a ticket- you are called within 5-10 minutes the first step, Nurses here very good 100%. Then you are asked to go the next stage to verify proof of identity and back to waiting area. Waiting area the wait is four hrs before anyone calls you if you are lucky, can be even 5hrs. Patients crying and getting distressed. After being called let's say you are going for blood test or x-ray, then back to the waiting area. Another 3hrs before going to see the Doctors. Let's say you are called to get inside, here you are asked to sit on the chair and wait, no one attending no communication for 3hrs. Nurses, Doctors useless in this stage, they just walk past and not even eye contact. The level of professionalism is below the expectation. Where are we heading to if thinking's are going this directions with the health care systems, this is why many lives are lost. If you are thinking of going to Midland ED give yourself 12hrs.

They have changed my perception of hospital in Australia. One of the friendliest hospital and plenty of parking. Welcoming staff, clean and friendly. My mum in hospital for more than 3 weeks now I boarded with her for 2 weeks she can’t speak English much. They are equipped and ready and happy for any situation. I was given a bed, food and looked after my mum amazingly. I can’t imagine myself going for any other hospital after this experience.

I was on my way to an appt at the sleep centre scheduled for 5.30pm when I got a msg telling me I was late for a 5pm appt and to make another appt. When I arrived, I advised they had got the time wrong, but they refused to see me. I spent $17 just getting there. Not one 4 letter word left my lips, but I was bloody angry! Don't bother complaining to the hospital. Customer Experience Officer was rude, spoke over me, refused to listen to my perspective and pretty much took the side of the sleep consultant. The sleep consultant had provided incorrect information to the Customer Experience officer which indicated I arrived at 5.40 when my arrival time was actually 5.25, in time for what I understood the appointment was scheduled for (5.30). When I said I would have been happy to wait and grab 5 minutes between customers, the Customer Experience Officer was adamant it was not possible and repeated I was 40 minutes late even after I had just corrected this. I asked if she was prepared to provide my response to the sleep centre? She said no, there were other sleep centres elsewhere both private and public. I hung up.

My son was complaining of chest pains and throwing up so I called an ambulance (the officers were great) he had a temperature of 38.8c and heart rate fast but they also checked his ketone and this was up but they thought it could be because of an infection. They said they would take him to midland which I pointed out will concentrate on the diabetes and nothing else. What a surprise when I rang to check on him just a short time ago this is exactly what they are doing. I asked about the chest pain and was told they don’t know as they are only dealing with the ketones. I have told them to note the chest pain and check it out. I spoke to my son and it seems they haven’t even checked his temperature. What happened to treating the whole patient. Not happy with this hospital at all. Lets add to this now, finally after 8pm last night they decided to do a RATS test and it came back positive. I know the staff are stretched but this is unacceptable 20 hours after going into ED and finally in a room to do a test and put so many at risk.

On Tuesday the 9th of February 2023 around 2pm, I had cause to phone the hospital. The receptionist was extremely helpful and transferred me to another Section. Again the Lady was extremely helpful. Due to my circumstances I was put through to another Section where I spoke to Kelly Referrals. She most was very helpful and quickly rectified the matter in a friendly an efficient manner. Thank you so much to the Ladies I spoke to. All were fantastic.

Well, what a journey we have had with my Father. Although the ED was chockers we were seen in good time. I might like to make mention one of your Volunteers Bob, he could not do enough for me when we arrived. Although we could not go into the Ritz Area Bob went to tell Dad we were here. This I know created some ease for Dad.. Jump a few days ahead and the Staff in general across all departments were so so so wonderful. Your willingness to keep us informed and keep Dad comfy was first class...special mention to Violetta in 2C. Just wonderful. The Doctors, Nurses, PCA's and Hospitality staff have been a blessing... THANK YOU, THANK YOU. xxx

The nurses are absolutely disgusting how they treat their patients. There were a couple who were nice but the rest in the maternity ward are not nice. I had a complicated birth, a c-section, and infection from the C section and was on very strong medication and wasn't myself. They have no empathy and one of them shamed me from not knowing enough about a baby, yet this was my first baby. Shame on you all and you know who you's are. Bad experience and never going there ever again for anything. Highly advise to not choosing this hospital for birth. Food was good and that's about it.

I was sent here on Thursday from Northam hospital for an emergency appendectomy... Thank you so much for finding me a bed when they rang you, and the wonderful care and kindness that you all showed both in the surgical ward and the operating theatre. The staff were kind and helpful, (and I could tell they could have done with more nurses), as they were kept so busy scurrying back and forth, but were still managing to be so pleasant and keep their cool, even when having to deal with some very needy patients! I wish I could single you all out individually, but that would take forever! PS the food is really good too, well done catering staff!

First antenatal appointment. Nurses were wonderful. Helpful kind caring and most of all thorough with explaining to a soon to be, first time mum what care I will recieve at the hospital. They were realistic and easy to speak with and had no judgement on “silly questions asked” or previous medical history. Obviously I have not given birth yet, but so far extremely happy with the service.

Went through emergency to surgery to recovery here today having never been before. A lovely clean hospital and every single staff member I encountered through the day was kind and caring - including the student nurses doing their prac placements. I was well fed and regularly checked on. A special thankyou to Mary and the staff of 3A for taking such good care of me :)

I went in on Thursday evening feeling extremely unwell. The staff at the initial covid testing area were fantastic and got me in as quickly as possible. Then went to ED, the wait there wasn't actually too bad either, and I can tell you they are so under the pump it's crazy. I ended getting admitted for couple of days and even though they are short staffed and crazy busy, not once did I feel my treatment was not top notch. They are calm and doing everything in their power to look after the patients as well as we should expect to be looked after. You know sometimes I think us Aussies forget how lucky we are. Anyway, just wanted to say a big Thank You to all the nurses and doctors and all the staff in ED that keep going as well as they can in these times. Thanks Guys :)

My 88 year old dad has prostate cancer which causes clots and bleeding with a difficulty in peeing when things don't clear. He had not been able to pee for three hours and was found to have 560 ml of fluid in his bladder. This was at 3.15 pm. The staff were amazing and the care given was top quality. The problem was the hospital supplies. They spent 40 minutes trying to locate a three way catheter across the entire hospital. By 5.00pm my dad was in agony having not had any relief while they tried to locate one. Finally at 5.10 pm they managed to locate what appears to be the only three way catheter in the entire building. This is absolutely disgraceful that a hospital in this country does not have enough supply of things that should be on hand. I overheard ED staff state they had three in ED that morning - seriously for the number of people coming through ED in one day to only have three of something is absolutely abysmal. Lift your game SJGH this is not a third world country.

Absolutely appalling emergency staff. Having ptsd and then being forced to goto mental health. When you have 2 babies and no family and come to hospital for help. To be taken against my will. Furthing adding to my ptsd, and my poor babies need me. Absolutely discusting. The whole hospital is an absolute mess. No soap. Freezing cold. No food. No visitors. All because i had terrible nausea, and my gp advised i needed a scan at hospital.

After severing and artery and nerve ay my workplace, I presented to emergency at SJOG Midland. Every point of contact I experienced was exemplary, from orderlies, nursing staff, doctors and radiographers. The level of care was faultless and I felt cared for and safe in what was an extremely stressful situation. Thank you to all who cared for me, your brilliant care and kindness is much appreciated!

I have done many trips to emergencies with kids. First time to st john of god and will not return back. I would rather drive another 30 minutes than attend here. Going onto 8 hours since we arrived and have got result nearly 2 hours ago and currently waiting for at home instructions from a doctor. 2 hours waiting just for what to do at home and get discharged. This place is the reason people prefer to use Google. Edit: was told that if i can wait 8 hours i can wait longer. Absolutely disgusting service. Than advise me not to leave as its quiet serious but is not treating it as if its serious and making us wait. Never returning to this hospital again Edit 2: just realised out of the 8 hours of waiting obs was only done once when first arrived and in waiting area, after that for 7 hours no other obs were done.

Had our baby girl here last June. Been to the ED too many times to remember as well, including very recently. Whilst the wait can be be long at times we have always had excellent service and care. To think we have never had to pay a cent is just amazing. We have lived in a few other places around the world and so far our experiences here have been streaks ahead. So grateful!

Not being a hospital user nor a patient patient, just have to send a 100% impressed review to the SJOG Midland team! From ED Triage to ED Care to Short Stay to Wd 2C, my 24hr visit was handled superbly! Medical care was so thorough and delivered well. Patient Services team members were helpful and friendly. Seen by more medical & nursing staff than I can remember and everyone was amazingly good at their job but also at explaining things. Thank you Team SJOG Midland. You rock being care givers!!

Visited 13/09/2023 ED due to a work injury. The left arm was not able to move that time and pain was very bad. After waiting at the ED, I was taken inside, but Dr really didn't care well, just checked arm around 1-2min and said its just tendonitis, told me to take some Panadol for the pain then wrote the discharge note and gave it to me. I just asked if the pain will remain what should I do. He said just go to GP. He didn't even do any Xray or ultra sound or anything to check what's the actual issue. Next day, my pain was really bad I had to go to GP and GP had to refer to Xray and ultra sound then had to wait some days for that appointment. Then had to wait somedays till the result comes. My recovery took so long due to less care of ED Dr at St John. After I made a complaint feedback to them and someone called me and apologised and informed me there are no available ultrasound or X-ray after 5pm. My question is why do we visit a hospital and pay their bills if they do not have the correct care and equipment. This may be only one case for them but any careless thing like this can lead someone or their whole family to suffer entire life.So I would not recommend anyone to visit St john if you care about yourself and your family.

Would like to thank the staff at Ward A psychiatric clinic. I came in highly depressed from serious and constant harassment from my workplace that spanned around two years of abuse. Since being here only 10 days I have dramatically improved my mental health due to the care and programs provided by the clinic and the beautiful nurses. I would most like to thank Lillian, so so sweet and very well communicative, intelligent and thoughtful of your wellbeing. Meditation has help me dramatically relax but even more so release a lot of build up emotions. I’d highly advise anyone dealing with any problems or simply to relax to just give it a go. It’s amazing! Also like to thank the lovely ladies at the kitchen, food was delicious every time and very polite. Although I must say Lisa the red head… hmmmm no good, screamed at afew people in here with obvious health and mental problems which obviously would make them more and more distressed. I just found wasn’t much care or respect to the people in here needing help as sort of “meh don’t care, you’ll be right”. That is what we do not need in a place where people need care support, help and rehabilitation. Everyone has things going on in their life and at time work can be stressful but there is no need to come to work where you have a duty of care and SCREAM at people. Apart from that thankyou everyone so so much. Big big love ❤️ “Negative people need drama like oxygen. Stay positive, it’ll take there breath away”

It was little inconvenience to wait at initially but Health professionals given their best efforts to care me till get admitted at mid night around 12.40 am .I would like to thank from my bottom of heart specially level 3 Room No 27. Rushed in due to chest pains. Nurse in cardiology told me I was a hypochondriac and asked if that’s how I’d be raising my daughter. Insisted discharge against doctors advice so I did just that, if I didn’t do that they were going to put me in the waiting area to wait another 4 hours; no thanks. Will request to go anywhere else for future reference.

Recently needed to use ED for my 2 month old very helpful and friendly staff from Triage to Emergency Department, we were in lot of stress when reached there but with the helpful and knowledgeable services provided by the team we came back home very relieved, they even consulted with the specialist at PCH. When they discharge our little one they explained us after care as well.

Partner was bitten by a dog on the foot. Had to wait over 2 hours for a tetanus shot. He was convinced by the nurse he needed an x-ray even though he could feel everything in his foot and still walk on it (they only physically checked his foot after the x-ray). We were told his foot was fine, I’m not a doctor but I could have told them that for free. Again more wasting of time and resources, if they physically checked the foot they would have realised the damage was superficial. We would have gone to urgent care if they weren’t closed, I do understand nurses and doctors are doing their best with the current circumstances, but I assumed a general physical check was required before ordering x-rays, tests etc. Also while we were being triaged an elderly man asked one of the staff if they could help take his Catheter out to which they replied “can you do it yourself, we are short staffed”. Again, I am not a doctor but that seems pretty unprofessional even if the hospital is short staffed. I realise this is my local hospital and I’m limited for choice but every time I’m here it’s not a pleasant experience.

Yesterday the 11/08/2023 I had a small foot operation, day procedure in St Johns Midland as private patient, the care was better than 5 star, the staff were all happy and very interested in my care. Over the years I have spent time in St Johns Murdoch and Subiaco and now Midland, the care provided by all 3 hospitals is always very special. Thank you St John of god group for providing fantastic level of care.

I was taken by ambulance (Steve an d "handsome" Pete) to emergency following a fainting episode at my doctor's surgery on Wednesday. There was a wait, but not too long. I was treated very well in ED but had to wait overnight before I could get a room in Private. I don't know how the nurses cope with the "awkward" patients with so much patience of their own. The Private ward 3B was excellent as usual and the nurses and staff were good too. Dr David Manners and his assistant Raghav were so pleasant and thorough. I appreciate all the efforts everyone made to get me home on Friday following the diagnosis of atrial fibrillation which rectified itself. Keep it up. Thanks so much🥰🤩

Thank you so much to all the staff at the hospital including the ambulance paramedics. You have so much to deal with and yet you battle through each day and still turn up for your next shift. After laying on my bed for many hours whilst undergoing many tests, I heard all sorts of patients in other cubicles moaning, screaming, causing trouble etc. Well, you dealt with me in a very professional manner and in the busy circumstances very timely. On behalf of all the well behaved, and appreciative patients. Thankyou And many thanks. Dave

Recently visited the ED and paediatric ward with my son. Was hesitant at first due to previous bad experience a few years back not long after it had opened. We arrived at triage and was taken straight through to be seen. The staff in ED were efficient, thorough, competent and caring. We were then taken upstairs to the paediatric ward. Our experience on the ward was excellent. They even cater a meal for the parent boarder which is an excellent idea when you have a sick child and you’re stuck in hospital. Even the little touches like a colouring pack with breakfast for the kids is fantastic. I must single out one caregiver Jenny who was the nurse who admitted us to the ward. Even though it was 5am in the morning and I’m sure she was tired coming to the end of her shift, she was warm, welcoming and reassuring and made a stressful time just that little bit easier. Thanks Jenny!

Used the hospital florist/gift shop today. Outstanding service the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The flower arrangement was beautiful and delivered to the hospital ward within 15- 20 mins after telephone order was placed. Thank you so much for your kindness and guidance.

Thank You for making this stressful event much easier on my husband and myself.

I was at the emergency room on Saturday morning and can't speak highly enough of all the staff that looked after me. I was seen quickly and the reception staff and nurses were fantastic, professional but friendly at the same time. A special thanks to the doctor who looked after me, Deirdre (her surname is Hogan or something like that, not sure, but she is a young female doctor from Ireland). She was professional but also warm and reassuring and made me feel at ease, which is something really important for someone like me, who gets very anxious about medical stuff. Thanks so much for a really good experience, I'll be sure to recommend this hospital and come back whenever I need to. Lara

I took my husband to Midland Hospital on 15/10/2021. It was very busy when we got there at 7:30pm. I asked a concierge nurse if there was somewhere for my husband to lie down as he had no energy to sit up as he was vomiting all afternoon. The concierge nurse passed the message to a triage nurse. My husband tried to sit up on a chair in a waiting room, but he was just too weak to do it, so he lied on the floor. A male nurse and a female nurse (I wish I remember their names) came over to my husband and told him to sit up on the chair. We explained the situation, but they stood right in front of my husband and kept yelling at him. Again we asked if there was somewhere for my husband to lie down, but all they said was he had to sit up on a chair. We also asked if my husband could lie down outside of the waiting room, but they said no as well. They walked off my husband and then sent a security officer to my husband. This officer was actually nice. He asked another patient to move to a chair from a long lounge, so my husband could lie down on the lounge. I didn't see there nurses again soon after this happened, so it must have been their end of shift for that night, which was great as they were so nasty. It took us 1hr to get to the triage nurse plus another 4 1/2hrs to get to a doctor. I understand it was very busy and we had to wait for such a long time, but these nurses didn't help the situation at all... .......................................................................................................................... Now I took myself to the ED last night. They announced that the waiting time would be 7 hours long! It didn't actually take that long to get to another side of the door though (I was in the waiting room for 4 hours) Dr James was fantastic and the nurse was nice too. Thank you!

Most friendliest staff. We've been here a lot over the years and the experience is always good. Sometimes you have to wait a few hrs but it's no different anywhere else. Thanks for the great care 👌

Have been sitting in the waiting room for over 3hrs and 20min. Tripped and smashed my head on thickened glass resulting in a 3 inch cut that bled profusely. When checked in did not get asked pain level did not get checked for concussion. Did not take bp. Just left sitting after they got personal info. Times quoted in wait list completely wrong also. Edit. Got moved to ritz and have been sitting there for 1hr other people that came after seen before again. Shivering now and pain in neck. Informed front triage but still no response. Edit. Finally after 5 hrs saw a doctor. Could not fault the treatment. Problem I think is understaffing as they had no assistance.

After triage, I Waited in ED for 2 hours......nobody came to see if I was okay. They saw two other priority patients in that time, but then cleared off. I was alone apart from a cleaning lady. Very dissatisfied. The triage nurse and check in lady were great, they get a star each. However I was largely ignored. I have since booked to see my GP on Tuesday (earliest available). I would have thought low blood pressure and vertigo would have been a cause for concern....but obviously not.

My husband was recently admitted to St John of God Midland Hospital ED and and then to Public Hospital to have an emergency surgery. We were both very impressed with the high standard of care and attentiveness to my husband's needs. All nurses and doctors involved in the care were very thorough, efficient and very professional. ED waiting time was very short and triage happend almost immediately. Great team of people and we very happy and grateful.

Absolutely great service, no complaints about the way I was treated at all. I flew over from GB 2.5 years ago and needed your mental care services, they were second to none. The Holliday was a disaster but at least I was taken care of during my 8 week stay in the unit. Thank you to the whole team. I wished I could play the piano as well as some of your staff.😎❤️

One of the worst emergency services I experienced in my life. Completely understaffed and the staff they do have are all running around, repeating activities and acting in a very inefficient manner. I would recommend you review your processes with the aim of maximising the efficiency of employees and increase the staff in peak hours. It's unacceptable to have 1nurse+1 doctor in a treatment area. Unfortunately, will never be back.

The service I have received here has been absolutely amazing, professional , peaceful and caring!! From the moment I checked with ladies at the admission desks to the nurses Kaitlyn and Justine and to the others I didn’t get their names , to the nursing assistants who deliver food and drinks and assist the nurses , to the orderly’s ( the people that take you to theatre and back ) to the anaesthetists, the staff in the theatre and recovery and to my surgeon, Dr McGuinn. So impressed with the hospital and staff , I cannot fault them at all. Thankyou ☺️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10 stars from me !

Was my first time going to a hospital and first time with a procedure. We went in day surgery or procedure, I think it’s called, and everyone was so supportive the environment in there was just amazing. Every nurse was very nice and made me feel relaxed. I had Dr Suresh Ponnusamy and his team take care of me. I am not good with needles due to past experience but they all made me feel relaxed and one gorgeous lady even held my hand ! Thank you midland hospital, and say thank you to all of them for me !

This is a big thank you note for Nurse Donna from India at St John’s emergency hospital at Midland in Perth . I don’t know your last name but I just wanted to let you know that your care and concern for me during the night stay on 7 Jan at emergency was beyond anything I would have hoped for . Also the Doctors and other nursing staff were very caring and kind . They made sure all tests were done and gave me an after care plan . Well done !
