This is a small, yet very interesting, museum if one is interested in the geology of the Alpilles and/or fossils. There are marine fossils found locally, as well as some from further away, to put the whole in context. For kids, there are some fossils that can be touched. The geological context is well explained. The charts are translated into several languages. In addition, there are exhibits on local archeological digs/finds from prehistoric times and from Roman times. The friendly reception to the museum doubles as the Tourist Bureau for Orgon. There's lots of info about hiking and biking in the Alpilles, with maps of trails readily available. The Sentier de la Pierre is a loop that takes you to an overlook of the currently exploited open-air limestone quarry, with some panels explaining what you're seeing. You can choose to continue up to the church on the hilltop for the view, and to appreciate more Urgonian geology.

Nice to visit while you visit Orgon. Geology exhibit and archaeology exhibit. The building was an old prison that has been converted into a museum. The site offers beautiful views of the town Orgon. We were greeted by a friendly and informative staff with the opportunity to be guided through the museum with commentary. Great for whole family. Our visit lasted about 45 minutes.

😐 Have been seeing this from the autoroute for 30 years travelling south/north. So took a trip up there, the actual interior of the church is quite small and plain but worth a visit if in the area. A 300mtr narrow road leads to the parking area with a few passing places however, there is parking befo...
