😠 Garden not in good shape at all when we visited. Not a great variety of plants, lack of colour and dried up weeds degrade the visual. Compared to other Abbaye gardens in France, for example Abbaye de Fontenay this is a inferior standard and not worth the €9 per person to visit. Sad. Having seen the... One of the most beautiful gardens I've ever visited! Must see when you're in Avignon and want to have a beautiful view on the city:)

Amazing views and the gardens are interesting, but we expected a little bit more flowers. This place has a great potential. We were surprised with the Palissy inspired ceramics!

Fantastic, such beautiful gardens. Even though today was over 100 degrees, it was worth it.

Compared to other Abbaye gardens in France, for example Abbaye de Fontenay this is a inferior standard and not worth the €9 per person to visit. Sad. Having seen the exceptional gardens at Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild I think I have been generous in one star for Abbaye St Andrew. As an update, the administrator of the Abbaye contacted me to advise that the comparison above with other gardens in other regions of France lacks veracity. Fair point but I note the promotional material for the Jardin does say it’s amongst to best gardens in France.

We took a walk around the gardens and they are just in a stunning location. Fantastic views across to Avignon and the surrounding landscape. Strategic placed chairs and benches mean you have the most leisurely of walks, a wonderful breeze making it very hard to leave. It may not be up to the standard of manicured gardens I have been in but, it was refreshing to see how the garden interacted with the wide landscape. We spent just over 2 hrs here... did I mention the views... the breeze... the chairs... loved it!

This abbey is a unique place. From the gardens there are stunning views over Avignon. From the café on the vaults there is a view worthy of a painting of the Popes' Palace. You can stay for hours in this garden to relax and enjoy. it is a haven of peace. don’t hesitate to stay there for a long time to enjoy all the treasures of the place

👍 The king of France Philippe le Bel ordered in 1292 the construction of a fortress around the city and the abbey of Saint-André. The tower was attached to the Pont Saint-Bénézet (aka Pont d'Avignon) which was then abandoned in 1669 and the fortress ceased to have a useful function. After the French R...

👍 The name "mourgues" comes from the Occitan word "monk". The site was a former religious property. There are still some remains of the hermitage where Father Crouzet-Lacombe de la Chartreuse took refuge during the Revolution. It is worth going as it has very nice views. The hill is closed to the publ...

🫤 Museum in the city center in a beautiful residence. To see some paintings, around ten, superbly restored. However, very few paintings to admire. Too bad for a Museum.
