We stumbled upon this restaurant when walking around Avignon during dinner time. It was packed and super lovely. We really enjoyed foie gras in the asparagus soup, and the jumbo prawns. The red wine braised beef was also lovely. Definitely worth checking out if you are staying in Avignon.

We had the salmon for the starter and the prawn for the main and it was very good. Flavours were fresh and full of herbs, which is a nice break from the normally rich french food.

Here are no pro food critic and most people talk about random things without providing any pro evaluation or analysis of the food. Surprisingly, nobody mentioned the creative appetizers that the restaurant offers. This place specializes in creative twists featuring scallops, duck, and pork, but to me, the most creative dish was the complimentary appetizer. 🥩Creative Appetizer: It consists of bread, biscuits, and a sauce that's a bit challenging to identify but has a seafood essence blended into a paste. All the essence of the food and the chef's craftsmanship are concentrated in this sauce. When spread on a piece of bread, it's appetizing and visually appealing. If shop owner happened to read this, please share me more about this dish. 🥩Veil Based on the numerous praises, the word 'veil' was mentioned the most. After trying steaks in Lyon, I had temporarily lost confidence in French chefs' ability to cook steaks to the ideal level, However, after trying the veil here, my faith in French chefs' steak-cooking abilities was restored. This steak is not thin, but it's tender on the outside, locking in the juices, and the cooking is spot on. The mashed potatoes as a side dish are creative, with celery juice added for extra richness. A bit of black pepper is added to enhance the overall flavor. 🥩Beef Stew: This is said to be the restaurant's specialty and the reason why most diners come. However, for those who have had Chinese-style beef stew with potatoes or Russian-style beef stew, the ultimate in beef stew can be found in these two dishes. The pinnacle of beef stew isn't about making the beef overly tender or flavorful; it's about how to ensure tenderness and flavor while preserving the natural aroma and texture of the beef. For example, some high-end American steakhouses make the steaks so tender they feel like pork, completely losing the essence of beef. This restaurant has this issue; for professional foodies, the beef is overcooked, and although it's tender, it's soft to the point of feeling like eating rice porridge (rice porridge with slightly firmer rice grains). It loses the beef's fibrous texture and leaves just the seasoning lingering in the air. 🥩French Escargot: This restaurant serves the most delicious escargot I've had so far. Although the escargot I had in Lyon was good, both used parsley and butter for seasoning, but the escargot here is even more delicious. Moreover, the escargot meat has already been prepared, so diners don't need to do it themselves, showing the chef's thoughtfulness. 🥩Stir-Fried Small Squid: This is also an appetizer. The small squids are roasted to a perfect crisp and served with salad and a special sweet and sour sauce, making it a good appetizer. Of course, if you can only choose one, you must go for the escargot. 🥩Fried Mashed Potatoes: This is just a side dish, but you can clearly see the chef's dedication. The mashed potatoes are fine and dense and have even been coated and fried to a crispy texture. If any fast-food restaurant could offer this food, it would become the world's most popular fast-food restaurant. Some say the highest praise for desserts is that they aren't overly sweet, but the desserts at this restaurant are indeed very sweet. The ice cream has a regular flavor, but the caramel and brownie base use too much sugar, making the overall dessert too sweet. Like some diners who say that the food here is salty, indeed, adding a bit more salt can enhance the freshness of the food. It's like a photo editor adding too much saturation. Even though you know it's a filtered photo, it still looks better than the original. The same principle applies to the food at this restaurant. The service here is excellent. They don't provide an English menu, so for diners who don't speak French, they have to rely on verbal communication for ordering. Diners without reservations can only sit outdoors, but fortunately still have choice, so not a waisted trip. The only downside is that smoking is not completely prohibited in the dining area! Otherwise 5 stars for sure!

This restaurant was recommended to us by our local host. Their description was "a little bit fancy and good quality local French food". We had the beef stew at his recommendation which was nice. The fish was also good. Desserts were a touch disappointing compared to the mains.

One of the best restaurant In Avignon. The starters gave me a refreshing taste to get ready for the main. I ordered the slow cooked veal shoulder with coriander which is very tender and with layers of flavour. 👍👍👍

We went here to eat some French food and it was delicious!!! The guy let us in even though we didn’t have a reservation and the decor is authentic and really feel part of the city. They translate everything for us so there was no difficulty to understand the menu. We had there a great evening in a real Avignon vibe.

Food definitely overrated! I was disappointed because it’s a Michelin recommended restaurant and I don’t expect anything with such mediocre standard. Calamari- tough Escargot- like burnt charcoal Iberia pork - when it’s served we already know it is tough. See photo of the meat texture Veal shoulder - soft and sauce not too bad Dessert - plum pie and lemon tart - no heart - come from the next door pastry shop Does not worth a second visit!!!

Really a family style restaurant with authentic French cuisine. The flavor is a bit on the salty side but not much, maybe I just have a very sensitive palate. Portion is generous. Warm, cosy ambience and very friendly staff. Menu has more choices than most places I’ve been to in Avignon and I recommend the fish.

We had a fantastic lunch at La Fourchette! Our food was excellent, the service is warm and very friendly, and the ambience is lovely - we couldn't have asked for a better time after a morning and a half of walking through the centre of Avignon. We showed up without a reservation on a Monday afternoon and though the restaurant was nearly full, they managed to seat us. The servers patiently explained the menu, and helped us choose by sharing their favorites. We don't speak French, but that wasn't a problem as everyone we interacted with spoke good English. The prices are quite fair - it's not super expensive, especially considering the quality on offer. Go to La Fourchette for a meal - you won't regret it!

Of my four days in France, this meal was the absolute best! Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The charcuterie meats were sliced fresh for us! The beef stew was arguably one of the best I've ever had. So thankful to have had this authentic French cuisine experience :)

Nice meal in a family run restaurant. Beautiful fried white bait. Pork feet was interesting but a little too greasy for me.

Nice restaurant in the centre. Food was good although slightly overpriced. The magret de canard was cooked very well and there was a nice array of veggies. The bread was delicious as well. All in all a good place to eat for classic, well made French food.

Wow. My girlfriend and I came here in August. Our dishes were cooked to perfection, with love. I definitely recommend this place!

Typical French fare. Had a fantastic beef stew special. My wife is vegetarian and had difficulty. Her dish was not that tasty. Baba Rhum dessert was fair at best. Nice location and kind of knick knack decor. Children of the staff were seen around the restaurant so you should feel comfortable with your kids here.

We were tired after a long day driving and just kind of stumbled on La Fourchette, our hôtel was around the corner. I presumed a nice table outside was reserved but they said "sit down!" Good start, they seemed really nice. But would we get served? We were hungry. We were outside. Would they forget about us? Seemed kind of full...I looked at my watch. BANG the menus the plates the Badoit the wine and then the food arrived in short order. A waitress who really knew the menu. The mushroom soup the best I've ever tasted. The calamari on a type of cold slaw excellent and so on and so forth. It's a great restaurant. Period.

The beef and the veal were the best dishes we’ve had in Provence. Would absolutely come back just for these dishes. Meringue desert was also delightful.

Good and inventive food in the heart of the old town of Avignon. If you are looking for good French food, good wine and spirits selection and kind staff, this place is the one you are looking for. Prices are fair. Booking is highly recommended.

Off the side from the lovely main city strip is this amazing French restaurant. Don’t let the fancy exterior fool you. The interior has an energetic modern French design applied with its any posters of “Avignon festival” throughout the many years. Okay, onto the food. Very simple style menu that will live up to your French tastebuds. They have set menus but we went for our own choices which was a great choice also. The waiting time for the three sides that we ordered was amazingly good considering you would typically wait longer in French cuisine. Each dish was elegant in preparation and the taste was just right, with good portions. Oh I forgot, the wine, the full bodied French rouge truely complemented the beef cheek. You must try the deserts, we went for two options and it did not disappoint. The staff were very hospitable, accommodating and also spoke English also to help tourist and “un peu Francais” speakers. You must give this place a try. Be early as it does get very busy from 8pm, else make a reservation. Price wise: value for €€

Good food, great service. Sea bream and the beef stew were very good. I didn’t enjoy the gazpacho as much. Felt food was slightly salty. Friendly staff.
