Extremely unfriendly service, expensive, I recommend to avoid. We were about to leave Avignon after visiting the palace with our three kids. Thirsty, we thought of having a drink in one of the restaurants on the place, or even something small to eat. We sat at the first table free, however, we should not be sitting there, as it's only for people eating,told us the waiter. So we moved to a different table. So the waiter came and I asked for the menu card. He pointed on the table and left. So on a small sticker with QR code, I downloaded the card, choose the large bottle of water 1l of the menu card and ordered. Then the waiter claimed, this is only for the restaurant. We have to order differently. So I ordered 3 smaller bottles of water. The waiter again was not accepting, as we were 5 people and we have to order 5 bottles (even for the smallest). So I stood up, said, it's then 4 bottles only and left. As they were serving glace for take away, I wanted to grab a glace for takeaway. As the lady was about the serve me, the waiter came again and told her to not give me an ice, as I sit by the table. Which was of course incorrect. She asked a second waiter, which said it's OK to serve me. So i ate my ice on the stairs somewhere else. Really, the worst service ever experienced. Oh, and I was even speaking French, using my 8 years of French... At least I tried to be polite.

Looking back at our visit I am still almost speechless. At this restaurant you are not allowed to sit where you want to. If you don't eat, you're second class right away. We wanted to order a 1 liter bottle sparkling water. No, not possible, only if you also eat something. So we wanted 4 small bottles. No, not possible, because we were 5 people, so if course we should order 5 bottles! By the way, don't ask for the menu or the waiter will have to point at the QR code sticking to the table. With a very annoyed face of course. When using the bathroom inside the lady at the bar was no better. We even overheard the waiter complaining to her about us. She was rolling her eyes at me and when I talked to her she said "I heard it, thank you, just walk on". And the best? The boss or some kind of superviser, seems to be there, noticing all this, but he does nothing, he rather joins the staff in being ridiculously unfriendly.

Great location, not cheap, staff not very attentive and not friendly.

Great service. Really loved the food and the menu moutardier was a good deal for a scallop entree, deer main and dessert for 39€. Ambiance is nice and the view is lovely at night.

horrible experience! the waiter took my son's water bottle and dumped it on the floor, believing it to be a bottle of water bought elsewhere but it wasn't. we were treated badly for no reason, they cursed us because they made a fuss thinking that we would have bought something elsewhere and sat at their table, which did not happen. and even if it had happened, it's not the right way to go about things!

We tried to order coffee and drinks, overall the waiter was very rude and unpleasant. The setting, however, in front of palais de Pape is otherwise quite nice. I wouldn't come back here given the rude service.

Unpleasant and unfriendly. Rather than greeting the guest the first shout out was „only for eating“ thanks we rather go elsewhere 🙄

Extremely rude staff doesn’t explain much. The problem is specifically with the attendant Mr Christopher (don’t know exactly his name, but it’s probably that — as the other staff member told me when I asked). Very rude indeed. But the other guys are great. By the way, average food. Don’t come

My wife and I had a very nice lunch on a hot day. Service was efficient, food was excellent. I observed that the waiters could be a bit cheekey, perhaps typically French or perhaps unavoidable in a tourist location but I would come again. And an excellent location.

Upon arrival, we were not greeted, so immediately a bad start, we saw a tall member of staff walk out with a white polo shirt, he was immediately arrogant, stood there with a cigarette in his mouth, he then stood to one side next to what i assume was the kitchen or bar area and smoked his cigarette, after finishing this cigarette instead of going to serve a table he then lit another cigarette. Absolutely appalling! He was also drinking his coffee whilst smoking. He never came over to serve us, by the time he finsihed smoking. We had been waiting 20mins and still no service and my partner was pregnant. A woman who was wearing a black vest and glasses came over to serve us, she is a credit to the team as since we arrived we only saw her serving table after table, she was really friendly and got us our drinks quickly. Just after she took our order the guy in the white polo came back to serve us, we told him we ordered from someone else, first table we saw him approach after 30mins If it wasn't for the girl who served us and the location the whole thing would have been a waste of time, the coffee was also good

We had a wonderful night here and had great food. Loved the bruschetta and the imaginative desserts. Some of the best we’ve had. Lovely staff and great ambience. Very unpretentious but deserving of a five star review as the food was top drawer. A cushion for the plastic chair is the only thing missing!

Nice restaurant located just on the square of Papes Palace with the very nice view. The choice in the Menu is not very wide, however, you will find beef, lamb, fish and vegetarian main courses. Starters are also available as well as a couple of desserts and drinks (including house wine from pichet). Prices are very affordable, having in mind the location.

Rudest waiter ever. Service is so poor that if it wasn’t for the location the place would probably be empty. Just go somewhere else and then come back for the beautiful visit at the Palazzo. It’s not worth being treated like we have been for an overpriced cup of coffee.
