Careful: the road to the village is extremely narrow, making it almost impossible at times to meet oncoming traffic! For a while, traffic was completely blocked when we visited (at what turned out to be a peak time.) The village itself is totally worth the visit though - it's fascinating to walk around and have a peek in the different houses, stables, workshops... and get a sense of the history of the place. It's fairly small so take your time and just enjoy the atmosphere. I only wish the road there was better suited for traffic and the receptionists were nicer (they seemed very much over tourists).

Cute and interesting little historic settlement. In 30-60 minutes you can visit all the "Bories" that are dry-stone constructions of buildings. There are 400 "bories" in Hordes. There you will see 5 houses that utilised 2 ovens and there are many other building to store food or animals. The entrance is €6 per adult. The narrow path that goes there is just about wife enough for a large car.

Located a ten minute drive from Gordes, you can visit a settlement of drystone buildings, all made without any mortar. The oldest building dates back to the 17th century. The buildings were built by local shepperds and farmers as shelters and stables. Abandoned in the mid-19th century, they were rediscovered in ruins in the 1960s and carefully restored. You can walk around freely. One building contains an exhibit and a short documentary film.

This was a fascinating place to visit. A small reconstructed village including homes, threshing floors, a wine cellar and other buildings from years gone by. Not far from Gordes, this is not to be missed!

A beautifully restored village, featuring many buildings that make up the farm. Interesting video and information about the history of the bories.

Wonderful place to visit. The creativity of the proplebwho used to live there is so great .they built houses with nothing else than stones . The road to go there is narrow and let you see the village of gordes. Worth to go

Interesting medieval habitat with several dry stone buildings for people, farm animals and wine cellars. The access road is well signaled, unlikely to France, but very narrow, south French style: you need to back up if some other car is on the other way. The reception has AC (very convenientfor July when 35°C outside), coffee and bottled water dispenser for 1.50€

I give this place five stars because I've never seen anything like it. It is so surreal to be walking around in what was someone's home millenia ago. A little off the beaten path but well worth the trip. More than I expected!

Wonderful place to visit. Amazing building & a real step back into recent history. There's also a great place for the kids to have a go building their own hut at the rear of the last house. Really suggest you take a walk around the little paths outside in the carpark too to see more. Would be great if the centre advertised & way marked these. Dog friendly too

Dry stone construction using no mortar. Amazing what they realised in 17.th century. I is very similar with Arbelobello from Italy. It was also a documentary film with the history. The village is between Menerbes and Gordes.

You'll have driven to Gordes for its pretty views and then driven away in shock at how many other people had the same idea and filled all the car parks. So, enjoy the views from your car whilst you queue to get out of the car park, then drive to Bories to experience somewhere unique and up close.

Small but worth a visit. Nothing to make you go “wow” but worth seeing these stone dwellings because they look interesting. They’ve existed in some form since prehistoric times. We spent 30 mins here. There’s a short video with English subtitles to explain things.

Potentially interesting but felt it was poorly presented. No idea of when people lived here and for how long or how buildings put together. Video 'arty' rather than chronological. Also a route to follow round site might have been helpful.

👍👍 Gordes is like medieval movie set of Hollywood. When you reach this view point, which is also the starting point of one of the hiking trails in this area, you see a massive village setting over the hill. Castle like building structures and the big church on the top make it look amazing. This view p...
