Beautiful piece of history and a peek into the end of the Middle Ages. The chateau is completely in tact and just stunning to see. The sheer size of it is impressive let alone the fact it is still standing today. You can visit nearly every room and are able to go onto the roof top to see the surrounding area and the massive Rhone river. The rooms no longer have furniture but the place leaves you in awe nonetheless. You can also visit the small garden that is situated in an interior courtyard. There is also a few rooms with artifacts. Do not miss seeing this chateau/fort especially if you love history and historical monuments.

The castle is often referred to as le château du roi René (King René's castle). Replaced a fortress, built on the site of the Roman town to monitor the border of Provence. After the destruction perpetrated in 1399 by the bands of Raymond de Turenne, the Anjou family decided to rebuild it entirely. It was turned into a military prison in the 17th century, until its acquisition by the state in 1932.

You get to tour this whole castle from the very bottom all the way to the roof. It's well worth the 9 euro entry fee.

Be carefull with the opening times, because the castle closes at lunchtime. They only allow people to enter 1 hour before lunchbreak! Very nice to visit. We took a lot of fun photos! Worth your time. We didn't take a guided tour, just walking in the rooms is plenty interesting!

Impressive, very much intact castle building with lots of rooms to see. We arrived around 15.30 and we realized how many rooms it had so we started to go fast around it. There was very interesting knowledge written for almost each room and great views from the top of the castle. At around 16.30 the guards started to ask us to leave, so we couldn’t stay until 17.00, that was a bit unfortunate. Clean facility, lots to read, cute shop.

Great castle to visit. Self guided. A lot of stairs to be able to go to the top. Going back down was the hardest for the little one. Up there the view is amazing.

Fantastic example of medieval stone work and is pretty much intact apart from cannon and musket ball marks from past battles there are beautiful views over Rhone and the town of Beaucaire highly recommend a visit

Nice castle. Would have loved it if they had one room completely decorated like in the 14th/15th century. Not a place to be when you need help going up or down the stairs.

What a surprise of castle and it’s said that was bout to resemble la Bastille of Paris (destroyed during the revolution) so one can no longer imagine how it used to be but visit a sort of replica of it but real castle fortress too.

One of my favorite castles. In extremely good shape, this is the quintessential defensible medieval castle. It manages to be at once crowded around it's tiny inner courtyard, and have large luminous rooms, while looking absolutely impregnable from medieval weapons.

Great visit for all. Can be delivered ne fairly quickly or taking more time. Off season visit and we had castle for ourselves. 3 to 64 yo and everyone had fun. Could use a few rooms with historical furniture to give more of an experience.

WOW doesn't even begin to describe the experience of walking through this huuuuge castle. You can even get all the way to the roof (which is also stone) for views that are breath taking. DO IT.

Medieval castle on the Rhone. We didn't enter as it was near closing time, but it's very impressive from the outside.

Interesting place but could do with some more language translations on the exhibits. Particularly for us ignorant English!
