Gorgeous. The cloister and the portal are worth the detour. Don't forget to visit the basement.

The cathedral is ST. Dedicated to Trophime, who according to legend was the first bishop of Arles. The cathedral from the 11th century is a Romanesque monument and certainly worth seeing; the cloister exudes dignity with 2 Romanesque and 2 Gothic galleries. Particularly worth seeing is the sculptural decoration on the west portal, which depicts the history of humanity from the Fall of Man to the Last Judgment like a picture Bible. However, van Gogh described the condemned at the Last Judgment as cruel and monstrous. Cheaper as a combination ticket with arena and theater.

The Saint-Trophime Primatial Catholic Church is a stunning architectural gem, with construction dating back to the 12th century. While some of the tapestries may appear faded, this only adds to the church's charm and historical allure. A notable feature is the vast collection of relics of saints, securely locked away behind metal bars in a church alcove, offering a glimpse into the religious significance of the site. Like many churches in France, Saint-Trophime is adorned with numerous statues and paintings depicting standard components of Christianity, contributing to its beauty and spiritual atmosphere. Overall, a very beautiful and enriching visit for those interested in history and religious art.

A visit to the medieval church with its many details and a visit to the Saint-Trophime monastery are highly recommended. You need a ticket to visit the monastery (it is worth buying a collective ticket that is valid for several days for various museums and monuments)

The West Portal on the Place de la République is a marvel. It illustrates Christ among the Evangelists and above the Apostles, scenes before and after the birth of Christ, saints and more. Many more illustrations of the bible can be found in the cloister where you can spend some time admiring the intricate capitals.

A beautiful Romanesque church that is a World Heritage Site. The figures on the portal are very impressive.

Beautiful church that apparently began construction in the 12th century. Many of the tapestries appear quite faded but I think that adds to the charm and history. There is actually a huge collection of relics locked away in a church alcove behind metal bars. Otherwise, as with many other churches in France, there are tons of statues and paintings depicting stardard components of Christianity. Very beautiful.

The portal is interesting when you start looking for details. The cathedral as a whole is not that spectacular. This is certainly also the case because it is not isolated, but is integrated into the monastery complex in a more secular location.

Beautiful historical chruch, great stone carving in front of main entrance. It's just next to Hotel De Ville, that's the city hall of Arles.

Gorgeous old church! You can really feel the history. It's also loaded with relics and tapestries. You start to feel like you're on a pilgrimage or a quest in a video game.

The Cathedral of St. Trophime (Trophimus / Cathédrale Saint-Trophime in French) is a Roman Catholic church and former cathedral built between the 12th century and the 15th century in Arles.

The facade is amazing with so many exquisite stone carvings of chimaeras and angels a must see in Arles

The sculptures over the church's portal, depicting the Last Judgement, are considered some of the finest examples of Romanesque sculpture. I forgot to go to the cloister—will do next time

Nothing surprising, Arles is a city without charm

Worth visiting, but I did think the sculptures outside the church were more beautiful than the rather subdued interior.
