This is a TOP visit if you are around Nîmes, an incredible view from the past, a living museum! Don’t miss it ! For my big surprise, pet friendly for small dogs.

The Amphitheatre of Nîmes is a sight to behold. Standing at an impressive 21 metres tall, the intact colleseum immerses you into ancient Nîmes. The restoration projects that have been ongoing for some 10 years have made a lot of significant and beautiful refurbishments that only enhance the Amphitheatre. While I appreciate the remaining half in the authentic, as it was, way. The "City of the Gods" show was spectacular and a pleasure for all, too. Make sure you book tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

A very well preserved and presented Roman Gladiatorial arena. The supplied interactive audio guide is well made and intuitive to use. The staff are friendly and helpful. You can visit the arena almost in its entirety, with gladiator and matador costume rooms available beneath the podiums. An escape game is also available with hidden riddles and challenges to find and complete around the arena. Descriptive information panels are posted around the arena in multiple languages. If this wasn't your main reason for visiting Nîmes, it should at least be your second. 5/5 must visit.

Big and beautiful ancient arena, now turn into a concert hall. Looking outside is much more interesting and grand. But inside pretty much full of tool, concert equipments. The audio is interesting to explain about the place and you can visit only half of the arena, due to under construction.

A must see if you are visiting Nimes. We went on a Saturday at 10am and it was very quiet. We bought a family pass for 20€ (2 adults and 2 children). You can hire an audio guide for free, you just need to give them an ID Card to hold and will be given back to you when you return their audio guide. Very interesting and beautiful place to visit. Approx 2000 years old and a stunning place to sit and take in the enormity of the amphitheater. Toilets located on site and a gift shop.

A well curated tour that really does give you a full experience of the beautiful amphitheatre. The audio tour was detailed without being too long. A must when visiting Nimes to get a grasp of the history and great views of the city too.

The amphitheater is a beautiful and historic Roman arena that will inspire any intrepid traveller with an interest in Roman history. There is an audioguide available for anyone interested in learning more about the history of the arena and is a worthwhile addition when looking around the amphitheater. At the exit of the arena there is a shop where people can buy souvenirs. There is a combination ticket available to buy that also includes access to the Maison Carrée and the Tour Magne, I’d recommend buying it if you’re interested in site seeing Nîmes. I’d definitely recommend visiting the Amphitheater of Nîmes.

One of the most preserved roman amphitheatres / arenas I have ever seen. The tickets are also affordable and you get an audio guide with it by default. There is also a good souvenir shop at the exit of the arena. Definitely recommended place to visit.

Amazing Roman architecture, they were setting up a concert hall when I went to visit. They provide you a mobile tour guide in different languages and there is a nice souvenir shop on the way out.

The Nîmes Amphitheatre is an incredible testament to Roman engineering and architecture. This well-preserved arena is not only an important historical site but also a venue for concerts and events today. Walking through its corridors and seating areas transports you back in time, evoking the grandeur of ancient gladiatorial contests. The scale and preservation of this amphitheater are truly awe-inspiring, making it a must-visit attraction in Nîmes. Whether you're interested in history, architecture, or simply want to immerse yourself in the past, the Nîmes Amphitheatre delivers a memorable experience.

Sehr gut erhaltene Theater, wenn man bedenkt das es schon 2000 Jahre alt ist. Hunde dürfen auch rein. Eintritt 10 Euro. Man kann auch mit Kreditkarte 💳 zahlen. Toiletten waren ebenfalls vorhanden.

It’s definitely worth buying the combo ticket to visit the Maison Carrée” and the museum, though we didn’t have time to visit the latter. The arena is very well preserved and a pleasure to visit. It’s still hosting many types of events. A must see in the region, definitely recommended.

Very cool Roman amphitheater with a comprehensive audio guide (several languages available) that is more interesting and entertaining than most. Just be sure to bring a photo ID. Very friendly employees here as well who speak English. We didn’t buy tickets in advance but it wasn’t too busy and there was virtually no wait. Lots of concerts/festivals during the summer so unfortunately the middle of the arena was set up with a stage and sound booth etc. - a unique location if you’re attending a concert here but still worth a visit if you’re not.

A very beautiful landmark to see in france reminds me of the coloseum of Rome, even more beautiful at night with the lights. You can go inside of it but after buying a ticket

Really great trip to the best preserved Roman arena. You can spend a good hour here exploring and taking in the incredible building work.

More than the Coliseum, this gives the sense of what it might have been like to see an imperial spectacle. If you have the chance to see one of the summertime shows, do. The production values, amateur extras included, are impressive, and any failure to enjoy is one's own responsibility.

Incredible place, restoration on it has been amazing and I think it’s fantastic it’s still used in the modern day for events. There’s a good audio guide that’s quite engaging, I know they do some events and ‘escape room’ things at other times for tourists but just going round and seeing it is great. Interesting information about the gladiators and other ancient Roman entertainment, definitely worth going for tickets that incorporate the Maison Carrée, Arena and Tower and if you’re a student REMEMBER TO SHOW YOUR CARD because you can get entry to all three as a student for only €13 which is great! Definitely recommend!

Unfortunately someone decided to change the whole amphitheater into an arena with bars inside and metal benches that changes the whole idea of a real amphitheater so when you walk inside it’s just looks like any other stadium 🤬 not worth it to pay €9 euros to enter! Look at it form outside and imagine how it was inside Don’t waste your money

Stunning, ancient Roman arena. A must see. Ambiance slightly impacted by Sum 41/Dropkick Murphy's kit being set up for evening gig but that was also quite interesting to see (what a gig for them!). Also, a few live actors seemed to pop up every now and then which was funny.

Awsome place in the downtime. In time of our visit there has been a lot of borders and forbinen places because of summer music festival. Nice souvenirs shop inside of amphitheatre.

Stunning on the outside, but the inside is not worth a visit if you’ve been to Verona or Rome. It’s mainly scaffolding with tribunes for shows. So nothing majorly nice to look at and not photogenic either. You can save yourself the 10 Euro entry fee per adult. If you go though, make sure to get the combo ticket that also only costs 10 Euros and allows also entry to the Tour Magne.

An outstanding Roman arena undergoing a lot of restoration work. Entry was 10 euros though there are family tickets as well. There is an option to have audio commentary once you are inside. Toilets are on site. There is a bar but only open for events. The exit is through the gift shop which doesn't appear to be too expensive.
