First, the vastness of Nnewi hits you with a daze. It's a surprisingly big town, brimming with commerce. I passed by the Igwe's palace. Like me, you cannot pass there and not notice the huge palace exterior. Igwe Orizu III is the 20th monarch in Nnewi and one of the longest serving monarchs in Nigeria. He is well over 90 years of age. The palace is huge and the royal presence is heavy and appreciated by the people. It makes royalty pretty cool.

Igwes palace always busy during the festive periods but that's the pride of Nnewi people. You need to see the colorful display of masquerades on the Ofala day (either 29th or 30th Dec.).

This is royalty at its simplicity... A palace with rich history that embodies all that Nnewi means. The Orizu palace is very famous in Anambra State. One of the few Igbo royal families that their voice is respected. By the entrance of the palace, you behold an splendor of the Orizu's dynasty. The palace is open to all people, and this can be linked to the freedom given to the subjects by His Royal Highness. The Royal highness, believing that all subjects are the same in all ramifications, abolish the 'Osu' tradition, which had held a lot of people in 'bondage'. The palace hold the King's court, and a mini stadium that can hold up to two thousand people, where he normally celebrates his 'Ofala festival'. This is a festival celebrated in Igbo land for the renewal of a King's kingship. A very important Igbo tradition. The dignity of the name 'Orizu' can be equated to the Palace. Truly, royalty, splendor, kingship are all the embodiment of the Igwe Orizu Palace, Nnewi. πŸ‘‘

Great culture, they have their very own museum. The King, HRH Igwe Kenneth Orizu III is the present longest raining monarch in the world, as he has ruled for 57 years on the throne. He is strong and so are the people here, very optimistic people and a good place to do business.

The godmother of "historic". Seat to the traditional throne of the great city of Nnewi. Home of the Chief Custodian. The palace is a mix of ancient and modern structures. Their is a modern museum documenting the rich culture of Nnewi at the palace. If you visit Nnewi, you'd do yourself a favour by taking a tour of the Palace

Quite a historical place to visit. The people celebrate an ofala every with their King to mark God's faithfulness in preserving and prospering through the year. How you Know you're close to the palace is when you begin to see an elegant array if signposts from the round about there in Otolo Nnewi.

Igwe Orizu Palace is a beautiful place. I used the parking space there to park my car while I entered Eke Amobi market to buy foodstuffs.

Ìgwè Ọrizu Palace is one of it's Kind. Not just about the edifices , but also the Personality of the sitting Igwe.(Ìgwè of Igwes- Igwe neje Uka). Needless to say, the Palace is 4.5 stars. It is a custodian of the Igbo Culture well represented by Nnewi town. In it's commercial state, it booms. With a standard cultural Museum on the right side of the entrance to the palace, i know that more is coming there with time. We are all welcome to the Palace of Ìgwè Dr K.O.N Ọrizu III J.P (C.O.N)
