The popular meat market in Awka, Kwata market has the biggest slaughter house in town. Beef and goat meat are the major meat slaughtered and sold in the market. The slaughter house is relatively neat after campaigns by the government and the market leaders to improve hygiene. Most meat sold in the Eke Awka Main Market and other smaller markets in Awka are from the Kwata slaughter house. However, meat isn't as cheap as you will expect at the slaughter house meat market.

An abattoir needs a hygeinic environment and Kwata isn't that much. A modern day abattoir is needed in that location.

This place need to be upgraded, hygiene is not taken into consideration here, so the government should come up with a plan for a new and standard meat market

Though not a neatly organised market place but you can purchase virtually all food items especially meat in large quantities and at a cheaper rate too
