(Translated by Google) Temple of Apollo is located in Didim district of Aydın. The Temple of Apollo, which is generally located in Didim Yenihisar district, provides easy access to the region by private vehicles or public transportation vehicles. Transportation is provided by minibuses both from the center of Yenihisar and from the terminal. Temple of Apollo Features Many famous names come to this temple in time for prophecies, especially since it is a big temple. In this regard, the temple officials were making predictions about the future. However, when the monotheistic era began, what the oracles said was seen devilishly and began to be banned. It is possible to say that there are many important works, especially because it is a war zone and has a religious characteristic. This enormous temple, which consists of 124 columns in two rows, is still located today, a significant part of which is still standing. The Story of the Temple of Apollo The temple of Apollo has a special story. According to rumors, one day Apollo meets a shepherd. According to the legend, Apollo tells all his secrets and prophecies to the shepherd. After learning these, the Shepherd builds the Temple of Apollo. Thus, the shepherd's family protects the Temple for years, and many important bureaucrats or soldiers and commanders come to the area to find healing in countless wealthy people. At the same time, it is known that important prophets who provided a lot of information about the future and whose accuracy was revealed lived in the temple of Apollo. For this reason, the Temple of Apollo has been used as one of the most important centers in the world for many years.

Beautiful ruins of Ancient Greek history. Only 50TL entrance fee for self guided tour. Approximately 20 to 25 minutes walk from the centre of Didim. Bring water as there is very little shade. No disabled access and no toilet facilities. Would recommend visiting in the morning or afternoon during the summer months. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby for refreshments.

Nice temple but if you’re mot close by and you don’t have a car and you’ve visited other Greek temples before; don’t stress yourself to jam it into your plan and drive over an hour to get there. Although it’s a mice place with historical columns. Amazing artistic details and textures on the constructions. Not many descriptions but good to visit anyways and nice cafés are around.

This is a wonderful place to visit. The Temple of Apollo is very well preserved and actually allows you to enter the temple and walk among the pillars and passageways. The Temple was never fully completed but what was is magnificent. The Temple of Apollo is a much larger construction than the Parthenon in Athens. There is a modest admission. Both restrooms and food are available in the entrance area. There are several very large facial sculptures of Medusa on the right as you enter the site. They are a great photo opportunity. Enjoy!

(Translated by Google) The temple, built in the 4th century BC, was the prophecy center of the time. We almost weren't going to give up the detour, so luckily we didn't make such a mistake. It is an enormous structure. I heard the comment from an uncle who was visiting the temple that "the stones were like dough at that time". You too will agree (Original) Milattan önce 4. asırda yapılmış tapınak zamanın kehanet merkeziymiş. Neredeyse rotayı saptırmaktan vazgeçip gitmeyecektik, iyi ki öyle bir hata yapmamışız. Didyma Apollo Temple, one of the most important prophecy centers of the ancient world, is located in the city center of Didim district of Aydın Province. It was the sanctuary of the ancient city of Miletus, to which the Temple of Apollo, which was the prophecy center of important cities such as Ephesus and Priene, which constituted the city states of Ion, was originally connected. Didyma is not actually an ancient city, but a holy place. The first written source about Didyma is Herodot. As Herodotus said; Alexander the Great, who gave the temple management to the city of Miletos after Alexander the Great took Miletos, was declared as the son of Zeus by the local people because of this behavior. With the help of Iskaer, the temple took its present form. If we talk about the current state of the temple, it is surrounded by 124 columns on a platform that can be climbed by steps on all four sides. The temple was destroyed by the Persian army attacking Miletus in 494 BC. Its rebuilding begins with Alexander the Great's liberation of the region from Persian rule. The construction of M.S. The magnificent temple, which lasted until the middle of the 2nd century, was not completely finished. The dimensions of the temple, which took its current form during its reconstruction, are approximately 109 x 51 meters. Located in the middle of the building, 53 x 21 m. The "Sella Sacred Space" of the size of today hosts concert and art organizations. The famous Medusa figure, which has become one of the symbols of Didim, is located at the entrance of the temple garden.

Unexpectedly impressive ruins of the temple. Very impressive scale and size. The temple is preserved in good condition compared to others. It was worth deviating from the main route of the trip.

Amazing Roman history within walking distance of central Didim. It's very near to Ataturk Boulevard. Ticket price 30 lira for entry, about 2 dollars. Surrounded by pretty cafes and historic houses. Fantastic to see a historical wonder at close range, some parts much more well preserved than I had expected. You can take some amazing photos here too. And there's a small gift shop inside the site which has some pretty and inexpensive gifts. Definitely worth seeing

Temple of Apollo Didyma (now Didim) was not a city in ancient times but a religious centre, and its astonishing Temple of Apollo was the ancient world's second largest; with its 122 original columns it had only five fewer than Ephesus' Temple of Artemis. Since the latter has only one column standing today, visiting Didyma really helps travellers visualise the lost grandeur of Artemis' temple, too. In Greek, Didyma means 'twin' (here, referring to the twin siblings Apollo and Artemis). There were many temples dedicated to the mythological god. Famous for his ability to heal, it comes as no surprise to learn the temple of Apollo in Didim was a popular sanctuary and one of the most famous oracles in the world.

Loved visiting this temple, such amazing architecture. Wish I could go back in time and see it in all its glory! The site was easy to access but might be harder for those with disabilities. Once on site you can view at your leisure. There’s a small gift shop with souvenirs and I recommend you bring some water with you, it’s thirsty work exploring!

Absolutely magnificent wonder of the world. So much you can feel from being at this place. I recommend coming early morning of evening because afternoon can get too warm. However the temple of Apollo never fails to disappoint. So much history from the place and you can feel it too. Every year I go turkey I make sure to visit this place. You also have a town along side the temple, where you can eat, drink or shop for souvenirs. The town itself is very old and holds a lot of history.

Very nice historical architecture monument. It was Greek territory so Greek godness Apollone. Near this place good restaurant you can drink Turkish coffee or try Turkish food with historical view and imagine yourself in the past. People are very hospitable here, and they even entertained me tomatoes soup from own family kitchen. And Didim is small but so beautiful city for rest. I enjoyed

This place is so amazing. Looks so beautiful in the night. Lovely places to eat and drink. Best place for a salted caramel coffee. Great little shops for buying temple souvenirs. It was so educational to read about the ruins and walk around and just picture mentally what it was really like all those years ago. Every time I go to didim I always go here. So peaceful and tranquil.

Temple of Apollo is probably the only interesting site to see in Didym. Greek ruins are well preserved. Entry to the ruins of temple cost 100 tl. If you driving there, the parking is really limited. The area is not really big, so you’ll probably going to spend there an hour the most. I would recommend visiting the temple if you in the area.

Even you will only see the temple and not the complete city, Didyma offers you the best temple reconstruction of the area. Lot of columns and two wonderful marble ramps to visit oracle area. You can enjoy lot of details on the columns and get the idea how it would have been to walk around at the original temple. One board explains temple was never finished and it makes you think also how complicated it was to build this huge temples...

DIDYMA: Located incongruously within a dusty suburban area of this town is the astonishing Temple of Apollo - an Ionian sanctuary that is supposed to be the ancient world's second-largest. Its 122 original columns only five fewer than Ephesus' Temple of Artemis, are so huge in size you could easily imagine the grandeur of this place during its glory days. Although destroyed by Persians in the early 5th century BC, Alexander the Great revitalized it in 334 BC and, about 30 years later, Seleucid rulers planned to make it the world's largest temple. However, it was never completely finished and Ephesus' Temple of Artemis took the record instead. Couldnt believe that place was completely deserted while loads of tourists flock to Ephesus!

If you have an interest in ancient history then Apollon Temple would be a place not to miss. There's much to learn about this Temple which you can search for online. There are cafés, shops and restaurants also in this area as well as a Church and Mosque. At night, the lighting on the Temple gives it a beautiful glow so your photos and videos will be spectacular both night and day.

What an experience to touch and feel history.. I loved exploring the temple and seeing its ruins.. I spent about an hour here soaking up the sun and the atmosphere... Imagining how someone thousands of years ago carved and built this temple without the modern tools and equipment we have today... mind blowing when you think about it.. Information boards are dotted around the site explaining the history of the temple and how it would have looked back in time Entry price is so reasonable... well worth it.. Not advisable for those with mobility issues as the ground is uneven and have quite a few steps to negotiate. but you can quite easily see most of it from the perimeter if you really like to see it cafés and gift shops nearby for you to enjoy while visiting...

(Translated by Google) From Kusadasi, where we rested a few years ago, tours to the ancient cities of Milet, Didim and Priene are not very popular. And we love antiquity, so four of us gathered, hired a taxi and off we go. It's good that we went after Ephesus, where we saw the unfortunate lonely column left over from the temple of Artemis. And they could not imagine what her temple looked like - one of the wonders of the ancient world. And then, in Didim, they were able to understand this. Because the majestic temple of Apollo was an exact copy of the Ephesian temple of Artemis - the sister of Apollo, it is no coincidence that the word “didyma” means “twins”. The general dimensions of the sanctuary have been preserved in Didim - 120 m in length, 51 m in width and 25 m in height. In ancient times, it was decorated with 120 Ionic columns about 20 m high. Now you can see only the giant remains of these columns. However, they still leave an overall impression of power and greatness. It was one of the largest ancient temples in the world and the local oracle was second only to the oracle in Greek Delphi in importance. They began to build the temple around 330 BC. e. and then continued for more than 600 years, but never finished. But even what has remained and has survived to this day is amazing. I definitely recommend to visit. Yes, I almost forgot, it was in Didim that Medusa the Gorgon lived and there is her marble statue at the excavations.

Temple of Apollo is an ancient monumental temple at Didyma, Aydin Province. It is considered as the most visited temples of the Hellenistic Era in Turkey and was constructed in the second century by the Greeks. This is a huge temple, which is surrounded by the 120 columns in two rows. These columns are 19.70 meters high and erected on the sides at the front of the Cella. A vogue statue of Apollo is placed in the tetrastyla in the Cella, besides the shrine. Oracle’s room is situated on the 2nd floor of the temple, which is supported by two Corinthian Columns. A 24 steps staircase is available there, leading to the room of the Oracle and the roof of the Temple. It is a great ancient place to visit, especially for the people having an interest in history.
