A nothing special burial apart from the fact that it is the place where John the Apostle is buried. 1. You can see series of pillars and a model illustrating how it should look like at the time it is constructed. 2. Bring your camera and definitely go visit there if you are really a great fan of religion. 3. Enjoy :)

(Translated by Google) St. John's Church is a church dedicated to the apostle John the Apostle who did not have the martyrdom. It was built around the tomb of John in the 4th century, and Emperor Justinian of Byzantine in the 6th century was extended to six domes. The church is located on the hill of Ayasluk, and it also offers a great view of the city, such as the Isabay Mosque and the Temple of Artemis.

It does not get as much attention as the Ephesus archaeological site, but this is a magnificent castle. It has been undergoing renovation for 13 years, and the views and the breezes from the top are amazing.

It was quite an experience to see St. John's tomb and the ruins of the basilica. The ruins date back to biblical times and are well preserved while some are partially restored. There was an entrance fee of 50 TL, but absolutely worth it to walk around such holy ground and admire the view of Ephesus. I would recommend going with a guide.

A huge area comprising the remains of the former Basilica of St John and the resting place of the apostle. There is so much of the basilica that has been preserved or put back together, that it is a pleasure to wander around the remains and see the model of what it was like in one piece. The bonus is the great panoramic view of the city beneath, as the basilica is located on top of a hill. Well priced entry, and well maintained site. Just watch out for the locals at the entrance trying to sell you 'ancient coins' they say they have found, who knows what they really are!

Good place to visit, there are a lot of pieces of the original place on the ground. It's recommended to have additional information when visiting it, as the 90% is destroyed and there are only pieces here and there and it's hard to imagine how it was in the past. The ticket includes the castle and the basilic

We came here just before closing. The ruins aren’t as magnificent as Ephesus. Sadly couldn’t visit the castle because we came late. A great place for sunset photos because it’s less busy.

St. John's Basilica in Ephesus is a breathtaking sight! The historical significance and architectural brilliance leave you in awe. A serene and spiritual journey amidst a beautiful setting. Don't miss out on this captivating landmark when you're in Turkey. Highly recommended!

Wunderbares Naturereignis.

Really enjoyed our trip here, and contrary to a post I read online which stated that it was a 1.6 km walk up a hill, this was not at all the case for us, as we were able to park very conveniently in the car park located just outside the entrance, for 25 lira. It was an interesting visit through the ruins of the church, with the baptistery still intact. You can also walk up to the Ayasoluk Castle at the top of the hill, but recommend this only for those of you with steady mountain goat legs! This is accessed by walking through the St John's Basilica Church. There is also a teashop halfway up for refreshments and souvenirs. This place is well worth a visit, set aside a couple of hours for this at least. We went in mid April and it was beautiful, filled with blossom of all kinds, lilac and other flowers. Down the hill in Selcuk also has some nice ordinary Turkish restaurants and shops you can visit also.

The MUST VISIT place in Selcuk. I visited Ephesus in the morning, and here in the afternoon. Unlike Ephesus, this place is not crowded at all. This is the place where you can feel the pure atmosphere of the ancient ruins without any interruption. Plus, the view from the roof of Selcuk is breathtaking.

Very surreal! As Christian believer, it was wonderful to know that the apostle had stepped, or even buried in that same place. Also the Virgin Mary had come to the place. We went there just before the sunset, and it was very nice as it’s on a hilltop.

The Basilica of St. John was a basilica in Ephesus. It was constructed by Justinian I in the 6th century. It stands over the believed burial site of John the Apostle. It was modeled after the now lost Church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople : from Google. Located in Ephesus and you would see a tomb of ST John and overlooking at the very first one of temple of Artemis from far. The remains slid the churches and some of the ruins remains at site. 30 mins to get this tour completed.

If you have a chance, go. Devine, I was so glad to visit the place where John the Apostle lived to look around and see the mountains and sky he once looked at. Ruins that survived hundreds of years. We tour on our own the ticket was part of a package we purchased at the entrance of the Ruins of The Library of Celsus Ephesos at that time the price was about 20 euros and included; Ephesus Archeological site, Ephesus Museum, The Basílica/ ST. JEAN ANITI, and the House of Mary.

Very peaceful at 12pm on Sunday. Not very many people walking around the site. You can also walk to the castle through here but we didn't go as it didn't seem like much to see. You can easily socially distance due to how empty it is. Plus it has a nice view of the column.

Beautiful historical place. It's better to go there with a tour guide so that you fully understand the story of the place. Beware of the ancient coins scammers. They hang around at the entrance and try to sell coins that they claim are ancient but they're actually fake.

(Translated by Google) Only a few columns and some ruins are visible. The place is quite large, which is why the guides follow a pre-established itinerary but can also be accessed independently. It is difficult to imagine the original form from the few artifacts that have survived over the years but there are some detailed illustrations that give the idea. It has been a few years since I saw this place but I think nothing has changed since then also because there is nothing else to be found and the maintenance is limited to the conservation of what can be seen. A nice curiosity is the presence of storks in the immediate vicinity. (Original) Sono visibili solo alcune colonne e qualche rudere.
