This is a quick stop that guides take you to right before visiting the ancient city of Ephesus. Particularly for Catholics it's a very sacred place, as it is thought that the virgin Mary spent her last days in this house. No photos are allowed inside of the house. After walking through the house and paying respects, you can light up candles for prayers. There are also 3 fountains in a brick wall beside the path - there is a local legend that if you drink from all three and make a wish Mary will help make it come true. You can tie your wish to this wall at the end. As you leave there are many souvenir shops on route for religious trinkets and ornaments.

This was the most humbling experience for me. God’s own chosen Mary lived her life in the most modest of dwelling imaginable. There is a certain serenity and tranquility to this place, which calms you, de-stresses you and soothes your angst, just like it is to be in your mother’s lap. It has now been converted to a chapel. Decent dressing and silence is the only ask of this place. Entry is ticketed but the money is taken by the town authorities; the chapel seeks no contribution.

This house is a shrine, called Meryemana Evi, translated as “the House of Mother Mary” in Turkish. It's believed that this house is where St. John took care of Mother Mary during her final years, and where the Assumption took place. Note that the Roman Catholic Church has never commented on the authenticity the house

Entry fee is high. Most of the people park their car near the gate, but there is parking near to house. It is a beautiful location like a house inside a forest. I liked the surroundings much with sounds of birds. Still i am thinking how virgin mary stayed there because it is on top of a hill.

The house of Virgin Mary is a must see when visiting Turkey. It was really neat to see it and drink the holy water and write wishes on the wall. It was a quick stop up the mountain with our tour guide before we headed to the Ephesus. You can’t take photos inside the house. There was free bathrooms and souvenirs and places to eat. Overall really cool must come visit!

Very beautiful and tranquil place. Best month to visit is May. Pictures inside the house are not allowed. You will need around 1/2 to 1 hour max to see this place. You will need some paper and a pen if you want to put your wishes on the wishing wall.

The House of Virgin Mary in Turkey is a serene and spiritually uplifting destination that left a profound impact on me. Nestled amidst lush greenery and overlooking the stunning landscape, this sacred site exudes an aura of tranquility and reverence. Visiting the House of Virgin Mary felt like stepping into a place of deep spiritual significance. As I entered the humble stone house, I could sense the weight of history and the devotion that has surrounded it for centuries. It is believed to be the final residence of the Virgin Mary, and the atmosphere resonates with a sense of reverence and holiness. The interior of the house has been meticulously preserved, allowing visitors to glimpse into the life of Mary and experience a connection to her legacy. The simple furnishings and religious artifacts created an intimate and contemplative ambiance, evoking a profound sense of peace and reflection. 👉 Follow me for more enchanting travel experiences @ecuadoriantravelista 🌍✨

Beautiful spot in the middle of nature it has a little fountain and the shrine is renovated. But it is nothing special especially for all the way you have to drive up the mountain. I wouldn’t recommend this place, mainly because it’s too much hassle to get there.

The house was discovered in the 19th century by following the descriptions in the reported visions of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774–1824), a Roman Catholic nun and visionary, which were published as a book by Clemens Brentano after her death. While the Catholic Church has never pronounced in favour or against the authenticity of the house, the site has nevertheless received a steady flow of pilgrimage since its discovery. Anne Catherine Emmerich was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 3, 2004. Catholic pilgrims visit the house based on the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken to this stone house by Saint John and lived there for the remainder of her earthly life. The shrine has merited several papal Apostolic Blessings and visits from several popes including Paul VI, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI.

On your way to Ephesus every guided tour stops at this famous location. It will take some quick 30 minutes to visit the small house, the fountain and the beautiful garden. No photo is allowed to be taken from inside the house. Guides and brochures will tell you that Virgin Marry had spent her last few years in this place.

Nice place but a little hokey. Its authenticity is a little questionable, and almost the entire building is rebuilt anyway. But as part of a tour that also visits Ephesus, it's worth a brief detour.

It is a tourist trap. Ticket cost around 12 Euro for 30 seconds in a small house with not much to see. You can’t even take picture inside or spend more time because they made lines like are at airports and you have to walk because of people behind you. Don’t believe the hype of this place the view driving up to the mountain is the best part.

The only worshipping place I have ever visited where you face racism for being European. As well different entrance fee for tourists. Just an ugly scam site.

Very nice place, must see, you can take photos inside. I would have liked to take a pic inside. Outside of the house their is an interesting wall with spring water fountains. You can even drink that water. And also a very old cistern. It's a long drive up the mountain but it is a very interesting place to see. Also a souvenir shop there with lots of different things to buy and take home. I would like to go back

I'm so happy to have been able to go visit Blessed Mary's house. The line was a little long in September (2019)yet it went quickly and it was nice to talk to people in line. You go through quickly but can linger a bit outside. There are spigots to collect water so make sure to bring a container (I brought a new travel size container).

Very solemn place to visit. We came here late in the afternoon on a Monday and there was very little crowd. There are shops to purchase holy water or you can bring your own container to fill up from a holy water spring at the bottom of the walkway. The Virgin Mary’s house itself is a very modest tiny home. You will walk through the front door and you find some candles to light outside (donations recommended). You will exit right into what is believed to be The Virgin Mary’s bedroom.

According to the tour guide, Catholic pilgrims visit the house based on the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken to this stone house by Saint John and lived there for the remainder of her earthly life. Catholic Church has never pronounced in favour or against the authenticity of the house, the site has nevertheless received a steady flow of pilgrimage since its discovery : per description from Google. This is a stop to Ephesus, located at a Mt. Koressos. You would find a key hole-shaped baptismal pool. The shrine itself is not extensively large, but may rather be described as a modest chapel. Good to spend 45 mins walking around and no camera to bring inside the small chapel and you would see an actual room believed Virgin Mary has slept there.

The church is small and modest. Within the church there is also a wall of desires. So if you're coming, bring paper and a pen and some ribbon to tie your wish. There is also a source of holy water, so bring a bottle.

This place is worth a visit, a little detour drive from Ephesus, if it would be meaningful for you in a spiritual sense. It only takes a couple of minutes to see the house (no photography allowed inside) so half an hour to see the entire area is plenty.

Müze kart geçersiz! Meryem Ana Kilisesi, located in the picturesque town of Selcuk, Turkey, is a truly breathtaking and spiritual experience. The church is built on the site where it is believed that the Virgin Mary spent her last days, and as soon as you step inside, you can feel the peaceful energy that permeates the air. The interior of the church is simple yet elegant, with beautiful stained glass windows and a statue of the Virgin Mary herself. The altar is adorned with candles and flowers, creating a serene and calming atmosphere that is perfect for contemplation and reflection. One of the highlights of my visit was the opportunity to light a candle and make a wish. The act of lighting a candle and saying a prayer is a tradition that has been practiced for centuries, and it was a powerful and emotional experience to take part in. Outside the church, there is a beautiful garden where visitors can walk and reflect. The garden is filled with fragrant flowers and trees, and there are several benches where you can sit and take in the tranquil surroundings. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Meryem Ana Kilisesi for anyone seeking a spiritual and peaceful experience. The church is a true gem and a testament to the enduring power of faith and devotion.

The House of Virgin Mary is a very quiet, calm and spiritual place. You can take a walk through this house but no pictures are allowed. It's beloved that the Virgin Mary had spent her last days in the vicinity of Ephesus and that she had died there. There are a few souvenir shops and washrooms too.

If you are staying in Kusadasi, this is a place you have to visit. It's only about 30 minutes drive, traffic dependent. The site is very clean and there's many photo opportunities.

A very spiritual place known as the house of the Holy Mary. This place is located in a very quiet place with beautiful nature. There is a drinking place next to this place, which has a spiritual value for many. In some places, people wrote their wishes and desires on paper and hung them up.

French priest, the Abbé Julien Gouyet discovered a small stone building on a mountain overlooking the Aegean Sea and the ruins of ancient Ephesus in Turkey. He believed it was the house described by Emmerich and where the Virgin Mary had lived the final years of her life
