One of the largest port cities of antiquity. More 3000 year old monuments, statues, burial site etc. Spread over a huge area. A huge theater and with an Indormuseum. Unfortunately there is no guided tour. You have to explore everything on your own. 25 tl entrance fee is reasonable. But you should take a whole day to see everything.

Nice small museum. If you visiting Miletus ruins your tickets will include entry to it. Not a lot to see in museum, but at least you’ll be able to know the history behind ruins of sightseeing.

A beautiful museum with all the excavations from the ancient port cities of Miletus and Priene. Well done. The visit is worth it. Entrance fee is 25 TL for the museum and complete excavation site of Miletus.

A nice walk through museum to visit before or after you tour the ruins. I found it very informative and interesting. View old coins, pottery and statues.

This museum is very clean and has a great collection of artifacts found on the region. It shows artifacts from different periods of time throughout history. It's not overwhelming.

If you have seen Ephesus then this is a great alternative to visit. Besides Ancient Miletus this museum that is on site tells the rest of the story. Very open inside for easy accessibility with modern bathrooms. The museum gives the site history and displays the finer artifacts they have found. Very good outside courtyard with highly detailed sculptures and sarcophagi. Happy exploring!

It’s a small museum very close to the ancient city of Miletus. It’s a must stop place on the way to the ancient city. During my visit it wasn’t very crowded (which was great) and we were able to appreciate the lovely artifacts in peace. Hope they get more investments to the museum so they can make it a more modern and detailed museum.

Really recommend visiting the small museum first as it explains the whole context, history and layout of the city before you walk it, i was fascinated by how, despite being miles inland now, it had been a harbour city before the large inlet slowly silted up through Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Turkish periods. Start at the huge and well preserved amphitheatre and walk a loop around and ancient city and go back in time using the information boards all over the site. The images of how each building once looked, help bring it to life.

Both the museum and ancient city were nice. Definitely agree with the other review suggesting to go to the museum first. Only negative about the museum is that only 2 of the toilets were operational (as in the locks of the other stalls were not working). Shouldn't be a problem for most I think. Loved being able to climb an almost empty amphitheatre and explore the various sections and structures behind it by myself. The ancient city is pretty big and I didn't explore most of it as I almost passed out from the heat. If you have the time and energy, highly recommend!

Museum is good. Theater at Miletos is impressive, but the rest of the ruins are somewhat disappointing. Ruins at nearby Priene gives a better impression of what an ancient town town must of have been like.

Interesting but quite small for the impressive city that it represents. I guess most of Miletus hasn’t been excavated or it has been pillaged. It is quite sad to see the existing situation of the archeological place.

Simple museum that explains the history of the area, not just Miletus.

Excellent city to visit. The theatre is better than the one at ephesus. Pity the Germans took the gate to the agora , to Berlin

A great museum which we had all to ourselves! Very informative and definitely worth a visit before driving further up the road to visit the incredible ruins of Miletus.

It’s an okay museum, nothing impressive but if you are already in Miletus I’d recommend check it out. Around 500 meters to get there from the entrance, you can drive or walk. You can enter with the same ticket as Miletus, so no need to pay extra fee

There were great artifacts from throughout the history of this place. If you are interested in history, and find it worth to see ancient cities, definitely make a visit. Also see the amphitheater nearby!

Small but excellent museum. The displays are arranged by item type rather than by timeline. It would be nice to get a better sense of deep antiquity and those stories versus the more recent items.

The Miletos Museum Directorate is located in the ancient city of Aydin province, Didim district, near the village of Balat. The static structure of the museum building, which was opened in 1973, deteriorated over time. Due to the danger of this situation in terms of the safety of life and property, he was closed to visit. Following the closure of the old museum building, work was started on the construction of the new building, which has a usage area of 1200 square meters, was put into service in 2011. The closed exhibition area is located within the museum Administrative Building. The finds of the ancient city of Miletos, the ancient city of Priene and the Temple of Apollo in Didim are exhibited in an area of approximately 600 square meters. Please thank you for having these works.

A relatively small, yet a rich and well curated museum, located in a peaceful environment nearby Miletus ruins. One can spend hours inside the building. There are findings from nearby ancient places such as Priene and Didim Apollo Temple, as well as from Miletus itself. In addition to the many artifacts exhibited (from large statutes to fine metal coins and figurines) and bi-lingual texts; maps (need to be improved), aerial photos, reconstruction drawings and 3D illustrations makes the visit highly pleasant and informative. Do not forget to visit the artifacts exhibited in the garden of the museum building.
