This is a pretty site and garden, with a tiny and unremarkable chapel on the supposed site of Mary's maybe house as revealed in visions by Catherine Emmerich. It has little to do with reality, or even biblical evidence. If you have nothing left to do around Selçuk, then maybe the drive up the mountain is worthwhile - join the many tourist buses going there.

Church of Mary is around 1 Km far from Ephesus stadium (Acts 19). Church isn't in good condition though. The alter of Church looks beautiful and few crosses around give it more beautiful also. There are Greek inscriptions and some pillars look really fascinating. You don't have to buy a separate ticket to visit this Church. Church is included under Ephesus and from very close to this Church there's exit also. Please make sure to carry an umbrella and a water bottle as Ephesus is really sunny and can be exhausting. Hope you enjoy your visit. Blessings!

The history of this place speaks for itself so I recommend you to read the history of Ephesus before going to this place...and don't forget the museum and Temple of Artemis..

The Ancient Church of Mary is a bit of the beaten path inside Ephesus. When walking towards the exit, there is a track on the left which leads to there. It is definitely worth the visit. Don’t forget your sneakers/trekking shoes.

Chilling emotion of being at the place where the great ecumenical Council that proclaimed Our Lady as Mother of God took place. Awe and veneration inspiring.

St Mary's Basilica required 10 minute's walk from the lower gate. But the ruins are amazing and the location is filed with history

A little site that ends (or begins) nicely your visit of the ruins of Ephesus. You can imagine how the beautiful this church was, from its pillars, its pavements, and the remnants of its walls. Some ancient inscriptions will reminds you that people were there and prayed.

Interesting place, full of history and... nature. Exept the great archaeological place i saw there how the boar is running away from dogs. that chase is passed 5 meters away from me and that was so funny and unexpectable

Sadly there is not much remaining of the church, and only a few walls have been rebuilt. So it remains up to visitor to imagine what this church might have looked like in the past. It is a bit further out from the amphitheater of Ephesus, about 5 minutes by foot. At the site, there can clearly be seen how brick archs have been built on top of ancient foundation. Worth a visit if you are in Ephesus.

Must have been impressive when built, but as a tag on to Ephesus, it's a bit of a slog, and there's not much left of it. Only for diehards and Mary worshippers

Not much remains of the church. I wished this gets rebuilt. It’s still a site to be seen.
