The house-museum of Samad Vurgu (1906-1956) is the first memorial museum created to perpetuate the memory of writers and composers in Azerbaijan. It is located in a six-room apartment on the 3rd floor of a residential building built in the 19th century. The poet spent the last years of his life in this apartment. The ceremonial opening of the house-museum, organized in 1974 by the decision of the government of the republic, was held on October 6, 1975.
