We
had
a
very
pleasant
stay
at
AVN
Arogya
during
our
~5
weeks
of
treatment
there.
My
father
suffered
an
acute
AVN
induced
brain
hemorrhage
(i.e.
severe
stroke)
in
2009
which
initially
had
left
him
completely
paralyzed
on
the
right
side
of
the
body.
At
the
time,
he
was
unable
to
speak,
swallow,
or
move
any
part
of
his
right
arm
or
leg.
After
a
complex
neurosurgery
and
several
rounds
of
physical
therapy
and
rehabilitation,
my
father
fortunately
did
recover
his
speech,
ability
to
eat,
and
a
large
degree
of
the
functionality
of
his
right
arm
and
wrist.
The
two
areas
which
never
did
quite
recover
was
his
digestive
system
and
function
of
his
lower
limbs
(particularly
his
right
leg
which
left
him
wheelchair
bound).
Eight
years
after
his
initial
stroke,
we
chose
to
give
ayurvedic
treatment
a
try.
We
consulted
with
AVN
remotely
via
email
and
phone
at
first.
Afterwards,
we
flew
from
the
US
to
Madurai
for
about
5
weeks
of
in-patient
treatment.
We
did
not
have
expectations
of
working
miracles,
but
we
were
hoping
for
improvement
in
my
father's
constant
issues
with
indigestion,
heartburn,
and
IBS
as
well
as
some
improvement
in
his
mobility.
After
his
treatment,
my
father
certainly
has
seen
improvement
in
his
digestive
system.
His
stomach
pain
has
subsided
to
a
degree
and
he
was
able
to
stop
taking
Omneprezole
(a
really
strong
OTC
antiacid
with
nasty
side
effects)
for
the
first
time
since
his
stroke.
While
his
mobility
did
not
improve
much
in
his
right
leg,
he
still
did
experience
an
increase
in
overall
strength
and
some
improvement
in
uncomfortable
sensations
in
his
lower
limbs.
Most
importantly,
we
felt
the
staff
at
AVN
were
extremely
friendly
and
helpful
in
all
of
our
interactions.
That
goes
for
everyone
from
the
housekeeping
staff
to
the
restaurant,
doctors
and
nurses,
as
well
as
therapists.
We
felt
very
much
at
home
and
the
surroundings
are
very
serene
and
peaceful.
One
observation
was
simply
the
fact
that
they
can
sometimes
be
understaffed
when
the
hospital
gets
full.
When
that
happens,
we
did
see
some
slowdown
in
efficiency
of
services.
But
this
was
a
minor
issue
in
an
otherwise
excellent
stay.
I
would
wholeheartedly
recommend
AVN
to
anyone!
