On our 2013 cycle trip along the Danube to the Black Sea, we cycled to Ilok over the Danube bridge to Bačka Palanka (Plankenburg). The Danube is the border river between Croatia and Serbia. Here is our little travel report: At 8:35 a.m. we set off to the Ilok bridge under an azure blue sky and left Croatia at 8:45 a.m. towards Backa Palanka, the first major settlement in Serbia. Directly after the border there was a small shop with an attached exchange office. Here we exchanged euros for Serbian dinars. A young Croatian who was on his way home spoke to us in German and said that he had been there from August 25th. - September 12, 2013 visited his aunt in Villingen-Schwenningen. His name is Ivan and he will soon find a job in Germany.
