👍👍 On our 2013 cycle trip along the Danube to the Black Sea, we cycled to Ilok over the Danube bridge to Bačka Palanka (Plankenburg). The Danube is the border river between Croatia and Serbia. On our 2013 cycle trip along the Danube to the Black Sea, we cycled to Ilok over the Danube bridge to Bačka Palanka (Plankenburg). The Danube is the border river between Croatia and Serbia. Here is our little travel report: At 8:35 a.m. we set off to the Ilok bridge under an azure blue sky and left Croatia at 8:45 a.m. towards Backa Palanka, the first major settlement in Serbia. Directly after the border there was a small shop with an attached exchange office. Here we exchanged euros for Serbian dinars. A young Croatian who was on his way home spoke to us in German and said that he had been there from August 25th. - September 12, 2013 visited his aunt in Villingen-Schwenningen. His name is Ivan and he will soon find a job in Germany. At the end he warned us about Serbian drivers and said: “In Germany, drunks drive in snaking lines,...when a Serb drives in a snaking line, he is sober and avoids the potholes...when he is drunk, he drives straight!”

It wasn't that bad. We went in on Thursday, there were no trucks. Google took us to Šid, because there were many cars on the road to Mitrovica. But Ilok-Bačka Palanka is better.

I think that this border crossing is the best in the world, as far as both sides are concerned, the police and customs are extremely kind, I've never had a problem, maybe it gets crowded at some moments, but all praise, especially for the customs officers
