Delicious vegan food Thursday to Saturday. Cakes, tea, coffee, kefir, kombucha, and even builder's tea! Sliding scale, pay what you can afford.

This place is an unbelievable gem that never fails to deliver. Always a healthy, delicious vegan menu (that changes daily!). And it's "pay what you can afford". It's a wonderful community cafe and we are very lucky to have it.

Gleaners Cafe is extremely popular in a bustling Bakers Arms world still not up there about the earth in danger. The vegan meals are freshly prepared and lovingly presented by table attendants who memorise customers' first names. You pay what you can and one should not forget something for the volunteer workers' pockets. Many I mix with reckon it's too posh for them.. Nonsense. Go see for yourself and check out creative works Everyone is valued and seen to

A really special community space in London. Makes such a change from the usual soulless corporate cafes. The food is absolutely delicious, proper curries and dahl and all sort on the menu.

This is a community coop cafe experience with a flexible cost per meal ( ask at the counter ) and amazing vegan options from locally sourced recovered foods that would otherwise be thrown out. It's fresh and wholesome and rather cosy and lovely and it's a lovely experience to stop and try .

So happy this place is open as a cafe again. (Thurs,Fri,Sat) Lovely community feeling, everyone welcome. Wonderful kind service. Great hearty food options, we had a vegan shepherds pie and a tasty curry for lunch along with a slice of cake and a cuppa.

I came here on a Saturday with my family as I had heard a lot about it. The cafe is quite small but it is so welcoming, cosy and warm. It was busy when we entered but we didn't have to wait for long until a table was free. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. There is a nice family type vibe at this cafe as regular customers were coming in. We ordered two soups and a brunch dish which included tofu scramble, sausages and a chickpea fritter. It was absolutely delicious. The price was also very reasonable :) Everything here is vegan and they have a good variety of cake, raw food and hot food. I would definitely come here again!

Was very excited to try this local vegan cafe but was left disappointed. We ordered the fry up and the Palestinian breakfast. We ordered at 13:00 and dlikeidn’t get our food til 13:45 which was a long time especially when there was only a few customers in the cafe so it wasn’t busy at all. We had to ask multiple times when our food would arrive and kept being told “a few minutes” but we ended up waiting 45 minutes. The breakfast itself lacked flavour and also didn’t arrive piping hot like it had just been cooked which i would have expected. The sourdough was hard, the tofu scramble was seasoned with too much salt and the beans tasted very sweet which i did not and the seasoned fried potatoes lacked flavour when paying, we explained to our waiter that we waited 45 minutes. She seemed surprised that we waited that long when she was certainly aware as we asked her more than twice when our food would arrive. She offered to take £4 off the £25 bill which i feel like was not enough for how long we waited. It’s great to see a local vegan cafe but i would not be going back again nor would i recommend.

Had a great chat with a regular who helped me understand the food being sold. I have recently been told to avoid wheat and gluten so went in for some ideas for cooking. Lovely atmosphere defo going back again. Ps: took my leftovers 😋

Very disappointed we use to come to Hornbeam as my daughter is vegan. You cannot eat inside just a couple of chairs outside. They say dine-in or takeaway but you can't say this on your website when it is not true. Wasted journey really annoyed.

Fantastic little local cafe promoting sustainable and local produce. The vegan cooked food and cakes are delicious and you'll be greeted by friendly staff. On Saturdays they have a fruit and vegetable stall with local produce not to be missed.

Horrible volunteer called Marion/ Maryanne, she picked on me constantly, while I was trying to help out at People's Kitchen, She picked on me because of the way I look, I know I am ugly, but I don't deserve to be treated so badly, Marion/ Maryanne is not good looking either, I don't like the way she looks, I don't like her appearance, but I would never treat her badly because of it. I am going to make this a public matter, because I suffer social anxiety and i don't need to be bullied.

This place is a discovery! A real London experience. Truly environmentally conscious, concerned about food waste and the local community! Lovely vegan food! Organic and climate conscious. We had a brunch, full plate packed with goodies, health and yummy food! I definitely recommend it. Chilled environment! The lovelies staff!

Local rec/ community joy: This morning I went to Hornbeam cafe. It’s community based and open to public Thurs-Sat, you can have hot/cold drinks, lunch and cakes/sweet treats. It’s a pay what you can model, with a scale of 4 options. There was lots of people who clearly spend the whole day to get company/warmth/food. If you ever fancy a chat with someone who might need it, I recommend taking a book and going, there might jsut be someone willing and in need of a chat & human connection. Today one of the regulars was an older lady. They had a party last night for their regulars and I heard her say “it was the best night of my life” my heart literally melted. The other days it has refferal programmes and Sunday is private hire. They have community based workshops regularly (see pic for this month). Theres lots of leaflets for local support services for a range of needs. It’s LGBTQ+ friendly and they have queer art on the walls.

Only one white and one red house wine. Our choice was the Leefield Station Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough New Zealand, could not have asked for a better accompaniment. Meal ended with oat milk masala chai, 24 hours infused with 8 spices. The mango sorbet was sweet and tangy. Highly recommend

I just love this cafe. 25 years part of the community! I went along for supper, a pop up kitchen - and it was 'Marli's Kitchen'. Vegan Soul Food. The Brazilian Black Bean Stew was delicious. It was all the extras that totally smashed this dish. Sliced plantain, mint and lime 'slaw. The homemade Mango Hot Pepper sauce...that was magic. This pop up restaurants change frequently. Check before you go.

Too laid back..went today for lunch.Very quiet.Waited a few minutes then left as person serving at counter too busy chatting away to someone. All he had to say was 'Be with you soon' Not even that.Quite rude really.Felt ignored

Fabulous place. Great food, chilled atmosphere. Nice vegan beer too! I wish they were open a bit later, that would be my only criticism. With regular foodie pop ups (usually if not always vegan!) and regularly home to a ‘pay what you feel’ meal, this place really is a gem. The latest residency ‘Spice Box’ has been brilliant!

Me and friends always go here on a Monday. The staff are just lovely and polite. You pay any money you want for amazing food with no judgement. Just a great atmosphere. Definetly try the cold oat latte, it's one off the BEST!! On Sundays is owned by #whatthefattoush. We also go here for breakfast. And I need to say, they have a great selection for vegans and vegetarians. The owner is lovely. I remember the card machine no working and the next time I went here, the owner offered me a peice of cake to apologise. Thank you for being a great community cafe!!! ❤️

Food took a while and they were out of 2 dishes. Staff were friendly coffee was better than expected for non dairy milk, food was okay, potatoes were really tasty and sausages quite meaty. Benches were really hard and uncomfortable. Atmosphere was very relaxed.

Went midweek for lunch. Cafe wasn’t busy. First time there, disappointingly was not made welcome at all. The staff member wasn’t rude as such more non-fussed about us. Tables were messy as people had just left. We ordered and then waited 45 minutes for two falafel wraps. The food quality was excellent but I was so frustrated about the service. Poor welcome, no communication through out and no apology for the long wait. Will I go again? Not I that staff member is there. Sorry.
