Swahili food was delicious, presented very nicely, and was also very well priced. The ambiance is also very nice with the nice lighting, cute tables and soft sand floor. I ended up going back a few times to try everything and every meal was as good as the first. Yassini the owner is also a great guy who is very passionate about his business, 5 out of 5 every time 👍👍

Special Christmas food prepared by Chef Yassine. Both dishes were delicious !!! Second day we are in Mafia and second dinner we're having at this local restaurant offering daily fresh fish. I can only recommend!!! Special dishes like on the pictures need to be ordered one day before by WhatsApp.

This local restaurant is a gem of Mafia Island, in the city center of Kilidoni, the owner and staff are very friendly and make sure you have everything you need. The food is absolutely delicious and the prices are set (same for local and tourists) at a VERY reasonable price. Each meal is prepared fresh, with great presentation and is delicious. Since they cook only with fresh ingredients, the menu is not super varied so make sure to advise Yaseem, the owner in advance, by whatsapp, if you want something specific and he will go out of his way to make it for you and make sure it is prepared FRESH. Overall great experience! Best fish i've had in Tanzania.

I have been in Kenia and Tanzania for 3 weeks, eating fish in many places. This is without doubts the best fish I have eaten and the rice is amazing also. The service is also really good! Very recommendable! 😁😁

Hippopotamus Food Point owned and run by Yassin exceeded our expectations by a mile. The seafood is just at another level!! We have never tasted seafood like this- it was a privilege! If you are looking to get the BEST seafood on Mafia Island at the best price I would highly recommend Yassin's place anyday.

Best food we've had in Tanzania! We both ordered a simple grilled fish with rice and salad. The fish (white snapper) was absolutely perfect and I was enjoying the fish so much I forgot to try the rice until much later! Even the rice was extremely tasty, it had been cooked with coconut and cardamon and was delicious. Without a doubt the best food we've had in Tanzania. The owner/chef 'Mr Hippo' was really friendly and welcomimg and had a long chat with us before we left. We enjoyed it so much that we are taking a detour to visit again before leaving Mafia. It was 10 USD per person but 100% worth the little extra compared to other nearby hotel restaurants.

Amazing food, great prices and most friendly staff. We had the vegetarian curry and fish and flavours were very nice.
