Old fort is one of the historical places to visit in bagamoyo and to learn alot about colonial rule. -1st tip u have to have money in tigopesa or anyother network ..they dont accept cash.. -it is sultan's house used for slave market (One of the picture below is the Money used to buy slaves, the younger slave the higher selling price as they are more strong than old) -

The fort itself is impressive but yoy have to pay 20,000 shillings and they tell you the fee includes entrance to some different attractions which are completely free (German boma). Generally staff was very nice but didnt have actual extensive knowledge and you can basically get the same experience by just looking at the fort from outside

Striking little museum dedicated to the slave trade and slavery in general within the Tanzanian history. You will be offered the services of a guide as you enter. Please accept, his presence makes a difference (you'll need to tip him at the end of your visit, around 10.000 TZH (4 US dollars) will help him put food on his table. Recommend it. The past can sometimes be truly shameful and brutal, we all need to face that as part of our school of life.

German Old Fort has always been a good and memorable historical place in bagamoyo. I like going and going to get and learn more history about it. It's well preserved. It's affordable as non-resident pays $10, resident pays $5 and local citizens pays like $1. They have a good guides who tells a good history about it. Last time, the guide was Casthebert he is so knowledgeable and knows alot of stuffs and know how to tell to his clients

(Translated by Google) Very interesting to see if you like history. Keep in mind that there is hardly any money in Tanzania to maintain historical objects. Decay is therefore everywhere. But it is beautiful to see, the area breathes history and everywhere you see Duirse, Arabic, British and Indian influences. In addition to the fort, you will also find a German cemetery, the old hospital and the old governor's houses.
