The spice tour is a perfect opportunity to learn about the plants of fruits and spices you use in the kitchen. The tour guides are knowledgeable and friendly. You will pay entrance fee (10000 tzs per person), and then the guide brings you to various spots where you can buy products: - parfume shop - spices shop - magnets shop These were still okay because you have the choice to not buy. But there will be also palm climbers making small show for you, and a guy letting you taste fruits. These plus the guide expect tip because they claim that they don't get a share from the entrance fee. They will stand in front of you and pressure you to tip them and then swear in Swahili when the tip doesn't satisfy them. It would be much better experience if the entrance fee would be higher and cover the personal. We left with mixed feelings.

My friends and I learned so much during this tour. The guys were awesomely in their character. From the explanation to the demonstration, we were flabbergasted πŸ˜†. I was this year old when I found out how multifaceted I he cinnamon plant is. The leaves, the stem, the roots are all useful in so many ways. We drank coconut juice with lemon against our flu. And we rubbed cinnamon coconut oil around our nose and lemongrass on our body against mosquitoes🦟 . Do not hesitate to do this tour specifically after which you can buy perfumes and spices. Big love ❀️ for Big body spice farm.

Very good tour with a friendly guide. No enterence fee, so they make money only from tips and from the products that they sell. Our children loved it.

So different than what we expected, but absolutely worth a visit! Very interesting, entertaining and insightful. We bought lovely spices and spiced coffee and tea, which is supporting the local community. The fruit tasting afterwards was also tasty and interesting.

We loved the place. The entrance was free; however, tipping is recommended. It is good to buy some spices to support the local community. Our guide spoke English very well.

The Experience was good. You learn about the various spices and fruits grown in Zanzibar. The Guides were professional and made the tour interesting. At the end of the tour you get to buy some spices and perfumes. The Fruit Platter after the walk gives a happy ending to the tour.

Tourist trap, would not recommend. We saw some interesting plants and spices, wich is nice (for that i give 2 stars), but not a good experience at all. Main focus is to get as much money as possible out of the tourists pockets. The guide barely speaks english, knows her wikipedia text by haert, but no real communication possible, a pitty. She had an "assistent" to show us the fruits she was talking about. He had no added value at all, but he was there just for the tip. Some guy suddenly starts chopping coconuts and climbs a tree, wich you have to pay for of course. They try to sell you all kind of stuff during the tour: spices, but also perfume, clothes, etc. Just really not a pleasant vibe.

Very nice and interesting visit. Products presented at the end are of good quality and not forced to be bought. I'd give a +1 on the advice of carrying shillings instead of dollars for the tips to the few guides you'll get

The place was very heavenly and peaceful, the people are so welcoming, kind and friendly. Singing is in the air! The tour was amazing, the home made perfumes smell really good and the fruits are so delicious. You can buy from a small spices shop and a souvenir shop and the prices are all reasonable and negotiable!

Good overview of different plants for production of spices and fruits. Friendly motivated team guiding throughout the farm. Better to have local currency in small banknotes are welcome for tipping several persons. Total of 5 to 10 dollars would be highly appreciated. There is a possibility to buy spices and oils from local production. Prices are generally higher than in the city (2-5 dollars).

Ok you see this advertised every and I thought it was a tourist trap. WOW!!!!! I was wrong. I had a blast learning new plants, uses of spices and history of how it was brought to Zanzibar. Very entertaining crew that gave the tour. Price includes a great local meal with spices I saw on the tour.Very interactive tour. Very worthwhile trip. Highly recommend to any who come to Zanzibar. They also have scented oils, soap, clothing, and spices for sale after the tour. Also they have a selection of fruit to taste test after your meal.

It's a great place as a tourist, but it's only a 'show' farm, no real plantation. We did not pay for an entrance fee but gave tips to our guides and bought some spices.
