The site is unique. A small square: the heart of the chaotic city of Stonetown. The facades of the old houses around the square are painted white and purple and some beautiful doors that belong to the UNESCO Heritage are also preserved, carved in wood, in Indian, Arabic or Swahili styles from the 18th century, from Zanzibar's heyday. In the center there is a table where young and old men meet to play checkers, chess ... and next to it, a telephone on top of a wooden pole that says "free international calls". On a corner, a man serves tea for those interested, another one sells local fresh fruit. We were said that when football is transmitted in TV, on the corner where the man was serving tea, they place a TV and all the village come here to watch the match, the love soccer! On one of the walls of the square we suddenly find this painting of a shark and that refers to the movie. Why? I do not know!

Fascinating place in the very heart of Stone Town. It was named after the mural showing a shark from the “Jaws” movie. Local men meet here to watch football and discuss current matters. The flag in the middle of the square represents the opposition party ACT - Wazalendo.

A place to go for meeting locals. Fir watching Manchester City win, or a cup of coffee, contemplating or watching The World Pass By.

A place where people meet and talks together and playing some games like draught and having coffes, also people watches footbal matches at this area, a good place to see how zanzibarian people interact to each other and how friendly they live together.

One can see the whole of Stone Town here. Try the local coffee while sitting on a bench at this small square and listen to news updates and arguments flying around, watch the people walking by, as if aimlessly and feel part of The 3D Matrix! The most sought-after vantage point is next to the 400V electricity box.

This is not a restaurant. It’s just a corner where everyone drinks coffee. You can try this Zanzibar coffee. It definitely tastes better than the coffee I am used to. Be careful of people trying to sell you stuff or hassle you if you don’t have a tour guide

This corner is full of happy people. Good vibes, we were even taught a dance by the locals. A lovely corner to run into as you explore Stone Town.

The owners obviously had a sense of humour. Lovely cool.open air oerfect for yhe hot nights. Lovely views. The staff were wonderful and very honest when dealing with the confusion of rates of exchange from TSH to USD. Food was excellent. Would def recommend it.

Say hello, sit down, have coffee, chat. Baraza: Stone benches for sitting in front of houses along the street. Translated into English as "council". It can be called council or council in Turkish. (Original) Yerel halkın "baraza"larda oturup çene çaldığı açık hava kahvehanesi. İsmini bir duvardaki Jaws resminden alıyor. Esprili bir sanatçıymış. Selam verin, oturun, kahve için, muhabbet edin. Nothing much here except people have been gathering here for many years. They painted whale/fish to give importance to the place.

😠 Do not go out of your way to visit this. You will most likely see it while leaving Stone Town, or as you walk around the area. It is literally just an arch, with no plaque or signage that does tells you what it was for or the significance of the arch. It's beautiful, especially if you like architect...
