This is the cutest place I have stayed in Tanzania! The atmosphere is so pleasant and relaxing, with the most tasteful decor and outdoor seating areas. A true gem in Bagamoyo! The staff was absolutely wonderful—super kind and friendly. Breakfast is delicious, plus I tried a smoothie/milkshake which was amazing. The pool is very clean and has lights so you can swim when it’s dark too. I couldn’t recommend this place enough, and it is in a very convenient location with an easy 5 min walk to the beach. The pictures online don’t do it justice…when you arrive you will be amazed with how beautiful the space is!

The tomato sauce has too much sugar, the 5k bacon has only 3 pieces. They have nice robes and good prices. Communal area was nice too

Absolut muzungu place. Try their watery "juice" for 7000 and go to town for a real juice for 2000... But these guys are happy not to mix with locals. Why do they visit this country?? The answer of management is not correct!

Firefly, you made our day! Came here on a day trip from Dar Es Salaam to discover the city and relax in the afternoon. Loved the lush cool setting around the swimming pool. It never gets too hot because of all the trees and plants, which is great, even more so with children. The food was good, but the greatest plus are the juices. Loved the frozen dates and coconut milkshake! We’ll come back to enjoy the authentic style and Swahili hospitality.

Best in hotel in the surrounding of Dar Es Salaam. Very lovely made ambience. Between the plants are so many nice places to rest and feel comfortable. It’s never getting that hot because of all these trees and plants. The stuff is courteous and all the time nice. Thanks a lot for the inspirational and recovering stay.

Absolutely love this place! The atmosphere, the decor, the rooms, the staff. If you want to experience luxury but at the same time that rugged African feel, this is your place. I always come here to ground myself and just unwind completely. Thanks again for the most memorable stay!

I had an amazing time at Fireflies, this place is a little heaven on Earth ! The staff is always smiling, helpful and makes you feel at home. There is a good wifi connection, the food is incredible, the place is very clean, showers are powerful. You have lots of spots where to relax (in the garden, arround the swimming pool…), and direct access to the beach. If interested, you can ask to take part to a yoga class. Highly recommanded !!

Tranquility to touch the soul. There needs to be a word to describe the cutting through of all noise, confusion and reserve, to find one's heart... That is the word I would like to use to describe the oasis that is Firefly. A family of love in a location of searing beauty. Thank you for this place.

We loved our stay at Firefly where we stayed as part of our holiday in Bagamoyo. The staff are very warm and welcoming - we felt at home, Clean, spacious room and bathroom. Massive breakfast and good value evening meal. Attentive staff

Decent campsite but the showers weren't hot and the bathrooms weren't very clean. Also, two of the men's toilets were broken.

It's quiet and cozy, nice view but there were mosquitoes and they took a long time to serve us only focused on the guests who were residents.

We only visited the pool area, which is quite good. Toilets are clean. Drinks for a reasonable price. Only 4 stars because... - pool costs 5.000 TSH although you're ordering a lot of drinks - wifi costs 3.000 TSH although you're ordering a lot of drinks That should be included when your spending money there - almost no comfy lying surfaces, no sunbed... - no ladder or stairs to get in the pool so it's hard for elderly people to get in or get out

Amazing location. Great food, great staff. The property has so many options, from camping to beautiful spacious rooms in an old very charming building. And there is a lot of attention to the details. Plants everywhere, books, tiny hidden corners to chill. Just amazing. Will come back as soon as possible. Asante sana

+ Very friendly staff, great pool area with some day beds, good food & drinks, rooms are well done - Wi-Fi was not working at all, USD 60 for a private room is rather pricy for Africa, no direct access to the beach

I have been visiting this place for food and drinks many times, but this is my first time staying here. I stayed in a very cool tent and I really enjoyed myself. The staff is the sweetest and the service is super. I had such a good time!

Beautiful green oasis in the center of Bagamoyo with a lovely crew working there. Stayed two nights in the beautiful old main building and one night out in the garden in one of the big tents. Both recommendable! Included breakfast is great, prices for everything are up to European standards though. 💸

I must say it's a beautiful place for a little escape. Nice ambience, cozy with scrumptious breakfast and friendly staff like Kelvin was simply the top tier. The room wasn't well ventilated which should really be worked on. All in all I loved it and definitely coming back again.

We had a great stay at Firefly. The place ouzes character, is super comfortable and has a wonderful vibe, you can tell that the restoration of the building and the beautiful gardens are a real labour of love. The food was wholesome and delicious, cocktails dangerously good and nothing was too much for the team to help with - they organised a fantastic walking tour (to soak up historical bagamoyo) and sorted us a taxi for our onward travel. Only wish we'd stayed longer. 10/10!

Very quiet place for relaxing. Huge palm trees over looking the pool area. Water in the pool could be litter warmer but it saves our resources. Enjoyed very much with my friends and make sure you check the fish market, too.

This is a lovely little escape with very creative touches in this eco-friendly environment. The staff were very friendly, and accommodated my various needs during a too brief stay. The meals were fabulous, and the history of the building was fascinating. The property is larger than I expected, but it is still a very cozy setting. I truly appreciated the ingenuity that was involved in getting me to my bus on time after an unexpected cancellation. Great time, and I'll hope to return to explore more of the area. It was really great to see the property featured in the video "Diaspora" by rapper Roma when I road the bus home. Glad to see we share excellent tastes in Bagamoyo accommodations. Disliked · I really enjoyed my room, but since Firefly is on a busy street, and walkway to the ocean for fishermen, it can get quite noisy in the bedroom, which is in complete contrast to what you experience in the common areas around the pool. Also, the beach just outside of the property is not for swimming, and is filled with fishing boats and fishermen. However, it's a fantastic spot to see the sunrise🌅!

The only quiet place that would imitate the feeling of the serengeti plains. Quiet and vast.

Loved it. Great ambience. The staff were friendly and accommodating, they even went beyond the menu and made a drink I requested that they had never created, a Mango Shandy if it is on the menu, enjoy. Food was excellent.

Really pretty place with nice Chillout areas and good food for a fair price. I just think the rooms are pretty expensive. Camping with your own tent is 10usd. When you have a room breakfast is included and first I was told that it's also included when camping but it's not. Look out for that.

Firefly was our little oasis for three nights. Very cozy little pool area with a lot of places to sit and relax. Very nice food both breakfast and lunch/ dinner. I highly recommend other Tourist to take a little brake away from their trip to go and have a good time at Firefly. Dorm rooms for those on budget trips like me:)

Was overall quite pleasant, staff were friendly, rustic setting. Had a bit of an ant infestation, wifi was quite poor (coverage & speed), and hot water not always available.

One of my favourite hostels/guesthouses in Tanzania (and the whole of Africa actually - and I've stayed in many of them). Great vibe, great location (minutes from the beach), great food, great staff, and the owner Jo is a superstar, and so helpful! Love it here and am always extremely sad to leave. If you want a real authentic Swahili stay/experience in a place full of history - this is the place to be! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A beautiful place with mesmerizing views. A spacious family friendly lodge. I owe it to myself to revisit Firefly again. The staff is so kind and helpful (thank you)! The Cafe time is a must do while staying at Firefly. The dining experience is superb, providing a great introduction to some classic cultural cuisine.
