(Translated by Google) The exterior of the Peace Palace And as is the Peace Palace, formerly the home of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, and now an Iraqi military base. 2007 Palace photo during the CF American football game. DateEdit Coalition forces captured the Peace Palace during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The palace was badly damaged during the "Shock and Awe" campaign, when it was attacked by several air raids. [citation needed] It is the headquarters of the Common Area Support Group. The coalition forces have been known as "camp prosperity" and "flourishing forward operating base." Layout and facilitiesEdit The palace contains 200 rooms with an area of approximately 1,000,000 square feet (93,000 square metres). There are six floors, three of which are usable (others serve as "false floors"); Two large ball chambers. The palace is lined internally with marble floors with hundreds of thousands of hand-cut pieces, granite walls, and ceilings that also contain hundreds of thousands of hand-painted and hand-inlaid flowers. The palace is also surrounded by a series of square tiles bearing Saddam Hussein's initials (S & H). The letters in Arabic are called "Saad" and "Ha". These tiles are visible on the upper side of the palace building. Iraqis say the dome of the palace used to have a life-size statue of Saddam. The heaters, which are placed around the lake in front of the palace, are fresh air vents used to supply fresh air to the bunkers under the lake. These shelters are now inaccessible, having been flooded and closed by coalition forces. In the basement of the palace is the entrance to one of the many concrete tunnels under the city of Baghdad. Also, these tunnels are ventilated and provide access to other palaces, government facilities and Baghdad International Airport. Current useEdit From April 2009 to January 2010, FOB Prosperity was operated by JASG-C 32d IBCT of Wisconsin. Currently (2012), the field operations center is occupied by the Iraqi government which has taken over operations due to the withdrawal of US forces. see also (Original)

Sinbad Palace, formerly Al-Salam Palace, is currently considered one of the palaces built during the era of President Saddam Hussein. It overlooks the Tigris River and the orchards on the opposite bank. It was and still is considered one of the wonderful landmarks of Baghdad. Today it belongs to the Presidency of the Iraqi Republic.

Spent best time of my life in this place “FOB Prosperity-Alsalam Palace”. I remember waking up early morning breathing that air & looking at the lakes beside my tent then walking to the chao to grab some food. Some nice activities in MWR & the gym after coming back from work. Will always have a place in my heart.
