The Buratha area at present includes a large mosque with two minarets on top, built in 1375 AH, an old library, a sanctuary, a prayer hall with a wide courtyard, a water well known as the Well of Imam Ali, and an old cemetery. Historians say that this site is of historical importance, and it is said that it was visited by many prophets and righteous people

A great place where Imam Ali showed miracle by unearthing a well of water. A Christian priest who was told by his forefathers that a prophet's successor could only rediscover this well, turned Muslim and fought under Imam Ali in the battle of Siffeen and became the first martyr of the battle.

A historic mosq named after a priest (Boratha). Historic sources state that the entire area only contained well water with high levels of salinity. Until one day A man named Imam Ali aided Boratha by uncovered a well with pure drinkable water. This well excists to this day at the center of this mosq.

Buratha is a holy place near Baghdad where an old church was build before Islam. Imam Ali (AS) while retuning from Nahrawan battle against the Kharijites , stopped at that place and prayed Salatul Jama'ah along with his army which was in tens of thousands. He ordered the monk to build a Masjid on that place. There are few narrations that a prophet was buried in Buratha, and narrations that  Lady Maryam (Mary) deliver her son Jesus on a stone which is inside that place.

Its holy place and in the past it was a Christian monastery, and it became a mosque when imam Ali bin Abi Talib the hero of Islam, passed in this place and he rised above a big rock and the water 💧 💧 started Spouts and he made his army to drink from this place under that rock.. The rock still there in the mosque and today I saw it it was a big black rock also I saw the well and the people still use that water for drinking. This place called Buratha for the name of priest who was in this monastery was called Buratha, whom Converted Islam by Imam Ali..

The mosque once has a history of being a church and was visited by Moula Ali AS and a well dug there to let people get water as there was years of drought... The well is still there and the water can be taken from there and drank ... The water Has healing properties.. And people often collect the same and take it back home to be given to near and dear ones....

Buratha, a holy place near Baghdad where an old church was built before Islam. Ali (a.s.) while returning from the Nahrawan Battle against Kharijites, stopped & prayed Salatul Jama'ah along with his army of tens of thousands. He ordered the monk to build a Masjid at that place. The Masjid was built in the year 37 Hijri, which is more than 109 years before the establishment of Baghdad by the Abbasid Khalifa.
