The gentle ticking sound of the watch echoes itself in the mystic Siju caves of the Meghalaya plateau. This is one of the longest caves in India and has some fine river passages making it one of the most beautiful places in India to visit. Located in Baghmara and filled with amazing limestone formations, this caves also include unexplored secret chambers with unknown labyrinths. It is a very deep cave enclosed in complete darkness which is sure to leave you in awe. Siju caves are must have experience for anyone who likes adventure and something refreshing.

A beautiful Limestone Cave that is protected and managed by the community that lives around it. A river flows through it so do wear gum boots or slippers. You will also need a good torch. A rare species of bat, cave fish, shrimp and even frogs live here ..keep an eye out and leave the cave as you found it...untouched

The third longest cave system in India, located near Naphak Lane and Simsang River, Siju Cave is an ideal spot for history buffs and is a must-visit a site in Meghalaya. It boasts of some of the finest river passages in the world.Β Also popularly known as β€˜Bat Cave’ this cave has magnificent limestone rock formations that leave spectators awestruck, and it is, of course, home to many different species of bats. The cave is dark since the sunlight does not reach inside it. Princess Di’s Chamber is another reason why you cannot skip this place on your trip to Meghalaya.Β The uniqueness of the cave makes it a popular spot among photographers too.

Siju is my village which is in South Garo Hills, Meghalaya and it is famous for rich biodiversity, Dobakol or the bat cave where thousands of bat residing inside the cave and also have many chamber and it is said to be one of the largest cave in India. It is also famous for the Bird Sanctuary and the scenery views of Mighty simsang river is so amazing and wonderful. During my childhood when I woke up early in the morning from my bed and go outside to feel the fresh air and then I used hear a noise of a monkey in the forest at around 4:00 am to 5:00am which is quite amazing . Some local people used to go for fishing at around 4:00am. It was quite an amazing experience during my childhood. "I recommend to all the tourist people to visit Siju, mighty simsang, bat cave and rock formation in South Garo Hills, Meghalaya". "When visiting South Garo Hills make sure you go along with local guide so that you won't get lost and confuse about the direction."

The Siju Cave located in Meghalaya, since the beginning of twentieth century, remains one of the chief source of observing natural phenomenon among cave researchers. It is the first limelighted natural cave in India, is also known as the bat cave, owing to the abundance of these nocturnal mammals here. Also noteworthy, is the limestone formations named after the princes, and the imposing stalagmites and stalactites which constitute the longest existing cave in India, and is a source of major water bodies of the region. Excavators and tourists awe alike at the naturally occurring physical phenomenons of this cave in Meghalaya.

GOLDEN PLACE FOR TOURISTS BECAME WORST PLACE JUST DUE TO POOR MANAGEMENT HERE. I visited the place on recently on 11.04.2022 along with my family but while check in at single lodge there, Someone (guide) is drinking at lodge during day time & making seen and caves incharge(someone Garo person) dont even warn him or stop or help the tourists to promote the tourism. I suggest to avoid this place as no one care for your family and all.

One of the best caving experience ever! April and May are the best months to visit since there won’t be much water inside. Do go inside with a local cave guide else you will loose the way inside.

    Breathtaking subterranean geological marvel.

Siju cave is known to be 3rd largest cave in Asia. Prefer boots if you go inside as small streams run down inside cave. Bats could also be found. Guide will take you for 12-15 mins walk cause the more interior you get the less oxygen supply. Worth visiting once

An off-beat place but must visit. Do bring a good quality torch to get a nice view inside the cave. Enter only with a local guide. You will love this caving experience for sure. Enter with proper footwear as you have to walk some distance in the water. Ample space for parking as well.

It's a beautiful natural caves but there's no lighting or direction. So most important do not dare to go on your own. Take local guide with you. Also if you are physically fit then only go. As lot of walking in water in uneven bottom and climbing inside the caves in total dark. So local guide will have torch but you also if possible take with you head lamp fitted on miner type helmet. It will protect your head also.
