When we visited, the first floor featured artworks while the second floor featured historical items. The 1st floor is essentially a gallery while the 2nd floor is the museum. If it's your first time, there is a lot to see, but allocating an hour and a half would do. We visited it quickly for about 40 minutes but we still enjoyed. The front desk staff was kind enough to offer a tour, but we declined as we were in a bit of a hurry. Fee for the visit is Php 100 / person.

The museum primarily highlights the rich history of Negros Island and the growth of the sugar industry, from the Spanish colonial era to sugar cane farming to the independent revolution. In the exhibition hall, you can view reconstructions of a sugar cane train and a cargo ship. The museum building is also a historical landmark, having been constructed in the mid-1920s and it is located in the heart of Bacolod City. Entrance fee is Php 100 for general admission, Php 80 for senior citizen and PWD while Php 70 for students. The museum is open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Saturday.

This is an interesting place to stop when visiting the area. It seems the lower floor is dedicated to a rotating collection of local art and the upper floor holds the permanent, more historical collection. For our visit, the lower floor had an excellent collection of mostly modern art, all of it excellent. The historical artifacts were fascinating as well. Make sure you stop by the restaurant, as it is fantastic as well.

Negros Museum is a must visit when you're in Bacolod. It’s located at the heart of the city where malls and government offices are found. Very accessible and the entrance fees are pretty cheap. Here, you can learn about the rich history of Negros, the struggles the Negrenses experienced from the hands of colonizers and more about the sugarcane industry.

Nice place to learn about Negros Occidental history, but it still needs more improvements with regards to the historical items in it. There are not many of them. #AlexMediaGuy #FrenxiesTravels

Me and my lady were looking for some more in depth history regarding the negros area, and we decided to come here to get some historical knowledge. We found many beautiful art pieces and historical information on the history of the negros area. This is a good spot for families who have children who are curious about the negros colonial times.

Art enthusiasts would love to be here. There are various paintings and crafts from different artists in Negros. There entrance fee is 100 php for regular and 80php for students. They have comfort room. There's also a cafe in front of the museum. All staffs are friendly. Visit them now! 🥰 🎨

When we went there, there were no other tourists around. There were mostly paintings inside the museum. At that time, the air-conditioning system wasn’t turned on (or prolly wasn’t working). You can learn a lot about the history of the region. Going around would probably take less than 30 minutes (if you are so keen on reading the captions and info). Entrance fee = 100 pesos.

Nice museum! I had the chance to visit the Negros museum last year when I visited Bacolod City for a business meeting. Everyone can know and understand the history of Bacolod City and the Province of Negros Occidental by looking at the pictures and paintings inside the museum. There is also fun activities for students gling to the museum. Students will surely enjoy the activities.

The entrance fee is 100 pesos per person. Located near the Capital Site and 888 mall. The building is nice but there is not much to see. The whole tour can be done in 10 minutes on 2 floors. Need more thought and work to make it interesting. The place was not busy at all.

There is a disappointing impression after visiting this Museum. The very poor historical part just a few documents not really a presentation of the past of Bacolod. A great pity for a city of almost 600000 inhabitants. Fortunately the presentation of some artworks is better. An improvement is needed. In front of the Museum however a master artwork so beautiful. Just pass by

Known as the San Sebastian Cathedral, the original structure of Bacolod Cathedral is made from the wood and other locals products in 1825. However, its original structure was damaged and was replaced by galvanized iron and coral stones. The bell towers were constructed in 1885. Bocolod Cathedral is in the business center Bacolod City and is in front of the plaza, thus, it is always busy. 07/2013

A perfect place for you to learn and discover the history of Negros Occidental as you begin your travel. Also, for art enthusiasts this would be a paradise. Suggestion though, some areas need proper ventilation as it is humid. But overall, this is top on the list for the best museums I've visited as of the present.

It was a pleasant experience. The entrance was 100 pesos per person a very reasonable price. The museum is a 2 story establishment where you can see paintings from local contemporary artists, I really liked the idea of showcasing Filipino artist’s talent ( especially painting). The 2nd floor was more of historic, there was a room filled with antique clothing, desks and more. Must visit place when you’re in Bacolod.

The museums interior design is indeed wonderful and majestic. The pieces are arranged organizedly and interestingly. It features modern arts as well as a reflection of their history throught the exhibited paintings. But, the exhibition is only limited compared to other museum.

This is probably one of the museums I really like. The arrangement of the artifacts are creatively thought of. The place is well lit and ventilated. You can take pictures (without flash though) . When I went to the museum, it was already closing time like 5:30 but when they asked me asked me where I came from and I told them that i am from Bicol, they let me in still. I am really thankful because of that. So I went around the museum a bit quickly. It was nice and the pieces where really old already. I was only able to see the ground floor because the second floor was under renovation then.

It was closed when I got there during the week day and in their hours of operation. For some reason, nobody updated their holiday off on Google maps. It was a total let down. If I was able to see inside I might have left a better review...

We were so lucky enough to visit the museum on their opening day after the renovation. They were featuring the works of Paeng Paderna and Lisa de Leon-Zayco in their exhibit entitled Bao Bao the unbowed Carabao. We were guided into the exhibit and were much impressed with the renovation and display. We were even lucky enough to meet the artists and talk to them about their works. It was great day!

Not much to see in here. The entrance fee is P100 and it's honestly not worth it. You can go through all 2 floors in 10 minutes. If you're in Bacolod, just get your photo taken outside the museum and call it a day. The inside isn't really worth looking into.

Went here after a failed trip to the Ruins (they were closed at the time). It contains the history of Bacolod city and has some artifacts preserved since the Spanish era. The tour guides are very accommodating and knowledgeable about their stuff and I hope tourists appreciate the history of Bacolod City

Jaw dropping art and culture. The directress and licenced tourgiudes are, hands down the best. The amount of art and variation, and stories behind each one is worth every peso. Hihly recommended. Support the heritage, history and preservation of culture and art or negros.

Awesome museum, it's worth going .. learn history of Negros, see artifacts and art

  • 4/5 Aileen G. 11 months ago on Google
The museum traces Bacolod City's mythical and migratory history until its inception as a republic for the whole Negros island after the Spanish colonization which lasted only for a few months when American troops landed. It also answers the question why the two biggest/longest streets in the city are named Lacson and Araneta. The 2nd floor gallery needs an update i.e. American occupation, World War II, and the post war history. The first floor is generally for local artists exhibits for sale. Although it is strange to have an Italian restaurant within the museum compound, enjoy the food offerings nonetheless.

Rich in culture and history about Negros. A must visit when you're in the area. Entrance is a hundred pesos per head (as of August 28 2023). The museum featured artworks from local artist, artifacts from pre spanish era and of course, from the spanish colonization period.
