You know a place is good when they don’t have a menu and that they serve only 1 type of food. Lunch time can be jammed. We went late for lunch exactly because of this. Service was lightning quick. Lechon Kawali was deadly good. With a good sawsawan — your food will unmistakably disappear in a blast. When in Bacolod, this is aMUST try.

I recommend potential visitors to order their Cansi and Fried Cansi. I am not a local and I did not expect Cansi to be better than Batangas Bulalo. The soup is rich in umami and the servings are quite generous, albeit a bit on the expensive side. Got a really large bone poking up our large bowl and enjoyed the marrow inside. The meat is quite tender and is easily separated from the bone... Its not "rubbery" i.e. does not need to be chewed a lot to swallow. One can enjoy the Cansi (soup) on its own without any condiments, but for the fried Cansi, I squeezed 3 Calamansi, chopped some red chili and put a teaspoon of fish sauce on a small bowl (can ignore the fish sauce if its too salty for you) and put a very small drop of the concoction to the viand for spice. Note that this is a not a fine-dining resto, its just a busy eatery as one of the reviewer said. Its also does not have AC, but it was not that hot despite visiting mid-day at the peak of summer, and slurping down that hot Cansi soup.

Great cansi soup no doubt about it. The beef is tender and it has small bone marrow. This is not a fine dining restaurant at all. Its just a busy local eatery so if you are picky dont eat here. Bad ventillation as there are just few fan so we were really sweating. The staff doesnt speak tagalog that much. They are also dismissive. When we get there we dont know how to order (if they will go to your table to ask, order in front with the display of dishes or at the back with the writing "pay here cansi 450 pesos" ) so we asked multiple times and we were dismissed. We sat down and wait. Then to our surprise, a server put down two cups of rice, one bowl of cansi and condiments. So my friend and i looked at each other and thought that OKAY THEY DECIDED FOR US. I ordered drinks and beef steak to add. There is no price list or menu at all. After eating we asked how much and someone just told us 750 pesos without telling us why or without receipt or list etc. We paid and get up as it is colder outside. My friend said he will come back since he really liked the taste. But i wont.

Hands down the best Cansi in Bacolod. Cansi is the Ilonggo version of bone marrow soup. It is different from the Luzon version Bulalo in that it is a bit sour because of batuan fruit, has achuete (anato) that makes it reddish and does not have vegetables like potato and cabbage in it. It is perfect for meatlovers like me. But the sourness makes one look for rice. So say goodbye to that low carb diet. When you do try it, you will understand why people line up to eat in this very humble looking eatery.

Best cansi ever! I've always wondered what authentic cansi tastes like since I only get the chance when we visit Ilonggo restaurants in Manila. But now here in Bacolod, I finally got to taste the real thing and it tastes 10x better than the ones in Manila. Definitely a must try when you're here in Bacolod

I was excited to try this place out, however the cansi was not what I expected, Arrived 7 AM in the morning, it felt like the soup was just preheated from last night. No bone marrow available. Im a bit disappointed.

The best kansi in Bacolod :) The blend of beef broth and batwan was perfect that you don't even have to add the usual PCS trio (patis calamansi sili) to your sabaw. I've read reviews about rude/judgemental staff but we did not experience it. The owner was kind enough to have a chat with us and even served our food. The space may get crowded during lunch so make sure to be there at an earlier time. One serving is priced at 390 pesos good for 2-4 persons. If you're used to unli tawad sabaw, theirs is limited and you can only get an one cup of soup per person as additional.

Its ok. But, you have to try both Sharyns cansi & nearby Erons cansi to judge... for me Erons cansi is better.. but the beef floss of sharyns is a must try!

Ohhh yes my favorite since 1990s from when it was only P45 peso per serving now its P390 per bowl. Adjudged as one of the top 10 soups in the Philippines (the likes of bulalo in Cebu and some others) Sharyns Kansi house definitely stands out. They use batwan to sour the soup, batwan is a local ingredient abundantly found here in Bacolod, the marrows are pressured cook into perfection without destroying its form, you can choose from "puno" or "lapos" when you order. The serving is good for 3. "Ohh i love the rainy days and the happy days"

The cansi was good but the service was BAD!!! The server insisted we sat at the table with four chairs when she could definitely see that we have a child with us who also needs to sit. Take note, there are a lot of vacant tables around. That same server was also so nonchalant that it came across as rude with her monosyllabic answers and bland replies when we request for something politely!

Sharyn's cansi hous is a good place to be with family. It's been around for decades. Staffs are friendly but not that too accommodating as you'd expect from most top restaurants. If you want to dine within a cool place, then this is not the place for you as there is no air conditioning and only uses huge fans; temperature is so hot especially at lunch time. My latest experience there was not so good as we noticed that they are selling maybe what's left of the previous days meats. It's still acceptable to eat but the freshness is not there. Also watch out for the prices, before you order I advise to ask for the price first maybe your budget is not that flexible because the prices of their products are very high.

It is a simple, small place that serves very delicious cansi that's worth the try. The very first time I tasted Cansi. Sumptious amout of meat that can be easily chewed, and soup is very heartwarming. Will go back here soon.

Cansi is very soft and tasty, even though the price is high, it's still worth it. Rated 4 stars since the place needs improvement in my opinion. You will smell a strong beefy flavor once inside.

It’s my first time to try cansi and I love it! The bowl is huge - good for 2-3 persons. Their crispy cansi is also good. It’s a casual place to eat. No aircon. Don’t expect first class service. It’s a carinderia but the food is great

My experience with Sharyn's Cansi House is memorable. we were rushing to get there before it closes (they are operating from 8am to 6pm). We were there just as they are about to close but the owner was graceful enough to serve us the last bowl of Cansi. I was sure to only eat 2 cups of rice but ending up doubling it because the soup is so good. Service is really good because they know what you want. A must try if you visit Bacolod.

Sharyn's Cansi House is a renowned hole-in-the-wall eatery known for its well-deserved recognition and popularity. Despite its modest interior and lack of air conditioning, both locals and tourists flock to the restaurant for a chance to taste its famous Cansi. Their Cansi dish, priced at P350, offers a generous serving of beef shank cooked in a distinctive rich sour soup. The soup is flavored with batwan, a locally available fruit that gives the Cansi its unique and delightful taste. To enhance the experience, the restaurant provides extra cups of soup and scooped-up bone marrow, making it a truly indulgent treat. As someone who had previously tried the Sizzling Kansi from Locavore, I was pleasantly surprised by my first sip of Sharyn's Cansi broth. The flavors were mind-blowing, far more intense and robust than I had anticipated, and I immediately understood why this dish is best enjoyed with a side of rice.

You can never go wrong with Cansi. The depth of meaty taste it has means that the broth was slowly cooked for hours. Meat was tender and serving size is ok. one order of cansi is P450, good for 2 people

  • 4/5 cher r. 1 year ago on Google
Picked this up as well from Chef JP. They only serve kansi. A bowl is good for 3pax and costs 450 each. Soup is rich and thick. Good choice and experience. Though they close early. They are open until 6pm. We arrived ataround 5pm for early dinner because we heard that it's always full. Good thing it's was not full that time.

Bad customer service: Waitresses are not accommodating and not approachable when you request something. Bad Food: The food is terrible. The meat is not fresh and has a sticky look. The soup lacks flavor. Conclusion: The food here before, around 2017, is really good. Now, in 2022, it seems they lack proper handling of their food and lack of training with their staff. Dismayed and disappointed after our dinner with my friends.

The day after the wedding me and my wife was still too dizzy because of all of the boozed that we drink from the wedding night, Sharyn's Cansi took care of that for us, and boy it was a gastronomical blast. Great for hangover and for simply looking for a great authentic food in Bacolod, you never been to Bacolod if you did not try this, highly recommended breakfast, lunch dinner or even snack. Sharyn's Cansi salute to you guys

Cafe Uma has always been my favorite restaurant in Bacolod. Especially as a vegetarian, their food has the option to be converted to vegetarian-friendly options. I particularly love their mushroom penne and veg quesadilla. At this point it's become a family tradition to dine here!

  • 4/5 Corman A. 4 years ago on Google
Cansi is good but needs bit more spice. Meat is tender and marrow on every order. Price is abit pricey as the portion was smaller compared to other places. Place is a bit old and the fans is not quite enough to cool down, wish there as AC. Overall not bad on rainy wheather, and i liked the home cooked side orders as well.

Indeed the best kansi house in the world! It is one of the things that makes me proud of living in Bacolod. Sharyn’s kansi validates that we have a rich culinary culture. A big bowl costs only Php 350!!! 😱😱😱 It is very affordable for a world-class food. Also important to note that aside from kansi, they serve the best rice in Bacolod too! 😋This is a must try for everyone who visits Bacolod. Make this a priority!!! 😊

Their signature dish - Cansi is at 395 Php per bowl which consists of beef meat and marrow (known as "utok" in Negros). Extra servings of the soup can be requested. Various Negrense dishes are sold, desserts are also available witg prices ranging from 85 Php to 150 Php. The restaurant is clean and service is fast. There are comfort rooms at the farther back of the restaurant.

Having lived in Spain for twenty years and being English I expected the usual stuff that’s served up in the Philippines as a poor imitation. We originally booked to go the go Italian restaurant a few doors up but balked at the price of a bottle of house red at 1500 pesos and a lousy limited menu. We ambled along to Cafe Uma not expecting a lot but was massively surprised by the food. Osso Busco, polenta, chicken liver crostini’s and a nice bottle of red at 700 pesos per bottle. It was mostly Italian food but had a lean towards the Spanish side. I’d definitely go back. Good work you guys. Mightily impressed. Thank you very much.
