This zoo was so much fun! The animals had clean habitats with tons of stimulating toys. All the animals seemed relaxed and happy. The zoo was clean. Even wild geese seem to love the zoo and were nesting all over the place!

Definitely worth the drive from Lubbock! A fun zoo, wonderful staff, cute animals. It was a relaxing and enjoyable time! The animals seem well cared for and happy (as happy as they can be in a zoo) and the staff seemed to really enjoy working with them!

For a small zoo this place is great. They are always trying to expand and do fun things for the community. We like when they do the Boo in the Zoo and the Christmas Lights. They have an awesome way of trying to do something in the community. It is a pretty small place so it doesn't take long to go through the zoo. But the staff is pretty friendly. Great place to just kill sometime when you have nothing else to do.

Loved it very relaxing and interesting walk through... little thing is I wish it was a little more disabled friendly place and bathrooms not just at entrance ... Would be nice to have a petting zoo part... Otherwise I guarantee you will have a wonderful day... Thank you all that work there 👍

Although this is a smaller zoo, it packs a up ch and covers all the basis. I homeschool so trips to the zoo come in handy in our learning. Very inexpensive. I spend under $10 with military discount. I feel bad spending so little $, so we always drop into they gift store to pick up a $1-$3 gift since we know it helps the animals 🥹🥰 Support your local zoo. Oh yes, this is any typical zoo where you want to wear sunscreen and a hat. Early hours are best for more active animals - late afternoon they also do feedings and those are always fun to watch!

For the cost it's worth it. It's only $4 to enter. I felt there really wasn't much to see. It felt like a big barn to me opposed to a real zoo. And I would go on a date it's not so windy. There was sand blowing around everywhere.

Great for kids. They never get tired of it. We had guest over and they enjoyed it as well. Its summer so it was hot so bring your hats during the summer heat.

This was a great roadtrip stop (6 & 8 year old)! Outside the zoo there were picnic tables and a soccer goal (also tables inside zoo). The admission was reasonable- and the zoo was not crowded. We were able to take our time and explore the zoo and see many animals up close. P.S. peacocks were everywhere- which was neat.

**BONUS** Check out their Facebook page under Clovis Zoo 😊. So many photos and videos to enjoy!! 5 ❤️''s Great little place to visit in Clovis! The critters are happy and well taken care of!! I spent hours enjoying the peaceful environment. Some of the critters interact with you, while others look absolutely content quietly napping. Informational signs are on each exhibit and the personable staff does a great job of giving you fun stories and background about them!! All around great place for the cost!

Nice little zoo. My kids had a great time and everyone there is very friendly.

Brought our great grandson today and was the worst zoo I’ve ever been too. The city of Clovis definitely needs to provide more money to make improvements and update the park. Being the 2nd largest zoo in NM must be based on acreage because it’s definitely not based on exhibits. Please clean it up and make it more attractive.

Kids had a pretty good time. We first ate lunch and then Walked around the Zoo. The only thing is they do not give a receipt. Like to have for my records.

Hillcrest Park Zoo has always been one of the best things about Clovis but within the last year, it is better than ever! There are new animals that have been added, new exhibits and improvement to the existing exhibits. The level of care for the animals really shows! I recommend going as soon as the zoo opens because that's when most animals seem to be getting fed and are most active. There is a gift shop on site with really cute and fun gifts and wagon rentals as well as bathrooms throughout the zoo. You will find benches all over and a nice shaded area with tables and chairs in front of the tiger exhibit so I recommend bringing snacks and drinks (no concession stand available). Our Girl Scout troop got the opportunity to do the Rothschild's Giraffe Experience and it was so fun! The guides are so knowledgeable and always made sure both us and the animals were safe.

Great fun little zoo! You are able to get up close to most of the animals unlike the “big” zoos. Definitely worth a stop

Always a fun trip for all ages. Talked to the director today, and he said they were fixing to do a bunch of upgrading, and add/replace animals that they haven't had, or have died. Can't wait! And those kangaroo Joey's! How awesome is that!

Lots of small old rusty cages. Not a lot of information about the animals either. I’ve worked with wildlife for the last 6 years in rehabilitation. It was really sad seeing all the pacing, repetitive and neurotic behavior commonly seen in zoochosis. It’s a neurological disorder commonly seen when animals in captivity are poorly cared for. The tiger had a trench in his enclosure from pacing (and limping?). The other cat was in nothing more than a glorified dog kennel that I wouldn’t feel comfortable keeping my lap dog in long term. The monkey cages where tiny, dirty metal and not nearly interesting enough areas to keep primates. We were wondering where all the keepers were to take care of the animals. Didn’t see them until we where leaving… I guess it takes 5 keepers to guard the back gate? I was sadly very disappointed after reading all the good reviews. I hope things improve for the animals sake :(

For $4, there's a decent number of animals/exhibits. The enclosures could definitely stand to be nicer and bigger for the animals. On the plus side, it makes it easier to actually see the animals since there's less stuff/space for them to hide in.

I love going to this zoo, I try to go every now and then. There's lots of different animals, and it seems like a little changes every time I visit. It's only $6 for an adult entry. I typically visit during the weekday mornings, and it's almost never busy. Most times, I'm the only one there. I love it! There's signs that teach you about the animals and whatnot. It's also a great place to have a walk. I just wish the zoo was better maintained. It can, at times, look a bit uncared for with overgrown grass and trash. I also wish some of the exhibits were larger because some seems way to small for the animals. Some animals even seem sad and/or stressed. But I guess that's most zoos unfortunately. Overall I'm still happy there's a decent zoo in Clovis!

This was my first time visiting and I thought it was a very nice and clean zoo; I enjoyed my walk through the park. I also signed up for the lemur encounter which was amazing and so much fun! Colton was very knowledgeable and I thoroughly w enjoyed my experience with him and Mya. Prices are very fair.

I brought my 2 kids here for a mini vacation for Spring Break. I read a few reviews before deciding between visiting Clovis or staying in Lubbock. We visited on Saint Patrick’s Day. The admission is inexpensive. Located in a park. This place isn’t bad, but it definitely needs some TLC and updates. It isn’t big, but isn’t small. Perfect weather. My favorite animals to see were the giraffes! We got to see them drink and eat. There are many benches, and places to sit to watch the animals or enjoy a picnic for lunch! Lots of shade. Very convenient and much appreciated. My son really enjoyed the reptiles! They had their own area. Since it wasn’t at all busy or crowded, we took our time and stayed for about 2 hours. It was very nice to not feel rushed. Some of the animals were sleeping, but we came back around and were able to see some of them wake. You do feel a bit sad for these animals, but they didn’t look or seem to be mistreated. In fact, when you purchase something from the gift shop, the money goes towards expanding tiger’s area and I’m sure other updates to the zoo! I highly recommend purchasing something to help out or donating! Gift shop had decently priced snacks and souvenirs. My daughter picked a monkey from there, and has slept with it every night since our visit. Bathrooms very clean! The lady who work in the gift shop was very kind and informative. My kids loved the visit. Overall, we had a nice experience and will be back. :)

Zoo was more than I expected..animals were all out. It's not that big but just enough...took my grand baby, she had a great time.

Took my boys here for a weekend trip is was super nice! The walk is long there is alot to look at. So be sure to get a drink before you start. But there is also lots of trees to shade the paths so it don't get way hot. There used to be alot more ducks around the pond so that was sad not to see so many. But this time they had a cool ant eater and a new camel so that was pretty cool. Plus they have all these cool statues make for great photo opportunities.

This zoo is awesome. It is totally worth going to if you are in the Lubbock area also. I go to school at Texas Tech and did not have class today and was looking up where the closest zoo was and it said Clovis. It is only $4! It took me 45 min to finish my walk around the zoo. I was very impressed by how big it is. It has similar to the amount of animals as zoos in large cities. The Tiger is awesome. Also the animals are not as used to people since it is not that busy, so they sort of interact with you. If you live within a couple hours, you gotta go here. It is fun for any age. I was very impressed.

I haven't been to the zoo in many years. The paths were uneven and the animals were in what I call unhealthy surroundings. I was not impressed. The ponds were full of alge and the open areas were full of trash.

This zoo was very depressing, very dirty (especially the water) and all of the enclosures are extremely small. Animals are not cared for and several of the geese had broken wings. Animals need to be taken somewhere they can get the proper care and treatment that they need.

Amazing place, friendly staff. I go weekly because an annualy pass for a family is only $60! Great place tojust relax and enjoy the animals or kill about 1-2 hrs of your day

The Christmas light display was great. It was a night time walk through the zoo with Christmas lights along the path. The weather was great for a walk.

  • 4/5 Amy M. 2 years ago on Google
Surprisingly great zoo! A very friendly giraffe. The water in the Buffalo exhibit and duck pond needs a serious clean. And the tiger needs a bigger space, like as big as the bear exhibit. And the marsupial exhibits need a good cleaning. Overall we loved the zoo! Best $4 you can spend in Clovis!🦬🐅🦒

Spent 3 hours walking and looking at everything. Great prices for good little zoo... will definitely be going back. Took a lot of great pictures but with an "old school" camera... not my phone....lol

I was surprised how it looked inside compared to the outside. The girls enjoyed this more than the bigger city zoo's we've been to.
