Montreal Biodome is one of the greatest legacies of the complicated Olympic Games of 1976. The city plunged in huge debt which took years to recover, but left beauties as this place, which for sure is worth to visit, especially if you have kids. You'll appreciate various ecosystems. It's a pleasant place to go!

If you're expecting a big-city zoo, you'll be disappointed. However, when you take into consideration the size of the local community (and the climate here in the winter) then Bramble Park can be considered above average! The parrots were fun and I saw a playful fight between a Kangaroo and an Ostrich. I felt sorry for the Tiger who didn't stop pacing the same area in his pen the whole time I was there- seemed exhausted and stressed. Make sure to check out the indoor history exhibit which gives some more background on northeast South Dakota if you're not from the area. Place was set up for families with a petting zoo but didn't get to experience that on my own.

The zoo always looks clean when I visit. The staff seems friendly. They have a decent amount of animals for a fairly small town. In rating this a 4-star based on the size and the expectations although you could almost give it a 5-star for that. The reason I didn't give it a 5 is because it's not a zoo you go out of your way for. It is a great place to burn a few hours while in town.

I'm a bit disappointed. I would like to know about the animals I'm seeing and yesterday, I didn't have lucky looking for a sign or information about it. However, the penguins are really cute and friendly, also the turtles.

In the context of the COVID-19, I feel like a couple of things need to be addressed. 1) between every ecosystem there is a metallic curtain on the door which every guest has no choice but to swim into to go through. They should be removed temporarily in favor of something hands-free. 2) All the signs were removed in favor of the phone app... Absolutely NO ONE knew about it. I kept hearing people complain they had no idea what they were looking at, and the reviews on here confirm what I'm saying. Please tell the staff at the entrance to inform guests of the app! P. S. the app is unusuable on Huawei phones. 3) It still felt a bit too crowded, keeping 2m distance was impossible in some areas. I think too many people are being let in per time slot, or people are coming early/staying longer (which by the way no one is checking.) 4) Why are you offering tickets at 5:30 if the tour is supposed to take 90 minutes?

after long time renewal is finally ready..I spent a great time with my 6 years son. online ticketing due to covid visit is limited. book online and choose the day and hour availables. the only thing I didn't like was it's become interactive for descriptions you will have to use your phone for explanation of animals and plants....me I prefer old style with info panels near to each species. not too long tour either......

(Translated by Google) Too bad it's not the Biodome it used to be. It's very confusing now, everything is poorly marked and they want us to use our phone to see the route and the directions. Sometimes we have considered disconnecting from all internet, wifi, telephone and enjoying the visit. Unfortunately, it is not the case !

I hate the fact that there are caged animals. I tried to look at the bright side, but I what I saw were filed klaws and teeth. Not impressed. When wings of birds are clipped to stay down on their knee. I thought of genocide. These were the memories.. you might be able to take the animal out of the instinct, but you will never take the instinct of the animal.

Zoo is smaller, so easy to get through in an hour if you want something fast. They have some animals at the zoo that others don’t. The condor is my favorite since I haven’t seen one in person before.

Great little zoo for all, but particularly the kids. My grandkids loved the activities even more than the animals. Milking the "cow", driving the stationary truck and tractors and playing with the "welcome to touch" exhibits.

Typical zoo setting. Clean park, and a great place to go see what u expect to see at a zoo. My only complaint is why is there only one pop machine available, and it is broken? At least put up a sign and/or offer other options for beverages.

My kids and I had a great time. They do have a lot of great animals but my kid really wanted to see a few that they didn't have. But that weekend that we went was midco free weekend and they had staff at random locations to give you information about the animals that were in that part of the zoo, really awesome.

Bramble Park Zoo is an excellent zoo to enjoy lots of animals, local history, and a beautiful landscape. Visitors are welcomed by a small museum that focuses on the area's past. Inside the zoo, they have a nice variety of animals (e.g. big cats, bear, primates, bison, kangaroo, sloth, etc.). They also have many playareas for kids to get out some extra energy and picnic areas. Not as exciting, they have plenty of shaded seating for the adults. Pro tip: Take a photo of the map in the gift shop. They no longer provide paper copies.

It was very clean and not too busy at all. Based on the size of the city it's located in I think it's a very nice zoo. It's not very big but it was fun to see the animals and my kids enjoyed it.

Real nice zoo for a smaller town. They have two snow leopards so I may be biased

  • 4/5 Mel S. 3 years ago on Google
Definitely a cute zoo... and you can show it’s coming from a small town. I personally wish that some of the exhibits were much larger... it’s frustrating to see some of the exhibits have such a small space compared to others. They really do have the potential to have a really good zoo... We came through during the corona, so we missed out on a few exhibits and any of the other demonstrations but that’s alright we’ll come another time. My only complaint of visiting during this health scare is that the penny press machine was in an area that was closed off. (So was the gift shop but that was something I wasn’t interested in anyways)

I've been to a lot of zoos in my life, but this is my absolute favourite one. I grew up going to the Bramble Park Zoo and loving every minute. It has got the greatest set-up. Instead of being on hot concrete like most zoos, this zoo (as the name suggests) is in a park. There are tons of trees and shade. It's not too big to be overwhelming, but certainly big enough to see lots of amazing animals. I love the work they do rehabilitating raptors!

It was ok. Doesn’t have elephants, zebras, giraffes, or gorillas... so that’s a huge bummer. Prices are ok but not great considering the lack of animals.

Bramble Park Zoo is a nice way to spend a short afternoon. The grounds are kept very clean and the precautions taken for Covid-19 are done well. I'd reccomend if you're in the area and need a few hours filled. Took my family about two hours to slowly walk through it all.

Great zoo for the community. The children always seem to have a great time. Staff members are friendly and helpful, very knowledgeable about the animals. They have a Zoo Crew program that allows children of certain ages to volunteer. It's a great way for them to learn about responsibility and team work while helping and learning about the animals. The educators who work w them are fantastic. We are so blessed to have this zoo.

  • 3/5 Jeff L. 4 years ago on Google
It's not a bad place for a local zoo, but after you've gone once there doesn't seem to be much reason to go back again for a long time as nothing really changes. We went last year and I swear the rocks and debris we saw in the camel snack tray was still there from the previous year. Which would explain why the camels never come anywhere near the fence so you can really see them. Even if you did feed them they wouldn't be able to get to it. The goats and other animals in the petting area on the other hand will jostle for position close to the fence to be fed. My guess is it's the only food they really get and it's a bit expensive for the visitor to aquire.

What a fantastic experience. So glad we came here with the kids during our montreal visit, nothing like this in Toronto. We saw penguins and the different environments (tropical, maple forest, arctic) that have been replicated to showcase the true habitats of these creatures is just remarkable. Commit atleast 90 minutes (we spent 3 hours including snack time) to the visit and there's enough walking to get the kids tired so do bring lunch or snacks.

The biodome is a fun place, especially with youngish kids (12y old or less). Some of the animals are very fun to see, and the environments while not that big (nor that small either) are very well organised. The 2 year long renovations are very dissapointing;. There is a very cool ice wall in the polar section (it's very cool, but other than cool to look at, it just makes the room colder) and a very nice mezzanine that, unfortunately, doesn't actually let you see the animals more... Still a good place to go to every 3-5 years....

(Translated by Google) I find it a shame to have to revise my rating ... We couldn't wait to go back after the renovations but were disappointed to find that the visit seemed to last less than before. One of the reasons that perhaps explains the fact that we made the tour in about half an hour only seems to be the lack of description sheets. Admittedly, there is an application that can be downloaded and which gives information on the animals that are found there, but I find it unfortunate to have to take out my phone throughout the visit, whereas if there is one thing that I like about this type of activity is that it normally allows you to "drop out" from digital. Only positive points: the staff, as well as the renovations which are beautiful and modern!

(Translated by Google) I would have liked to put more stars because it's great and well laid out, on the other hand I was very surprised by the lack of measures taken to counter the Covid. First of all, since we have to reserve a time slot, I thought that the number of people at the same time on site would be reasonable, but not at all. It was packed. Absolutely no measures are in place for social distancing. No route is pre-established, so it's free for all. Everyone's out in front of the paddocks, and I haven't heard any staff raising awareness, except for a small place with interactive stations.

(Translated by Google) We went as a couple last Friday with a reservation for 4pm. Having already visited the Biodome and following the renovations, I was left unsatisfied ... Yes, the addition of the footbridge is very interesting for the tropical wetland but of no interest for the boreal zone. I wish they had added animals to it instead of showing me the top of a maple tree. As for health measures, a real disaster; no indication for the direction of the visit which makes that many are against the current in the corridors and it is not to mention the number of times that I asked the other visitors to settle down a little to let us pass! Not very thrilled, luckily the entry price was reasonable ... I will unfortunately not be going back unless we introduce several new tenants!

Recently have moved to town and my 11 year old and I checked out the Zoo one Friday morning. What a treat! We weren't expecting much from a smaller zoo, but we had such a lovely experience! Upon entrance the Macaw greeted us with an "Hello!" My daughter's favorite were the apes that were quite vocal. My favorite was watching the bear feeding time. All the animals looked healthy, the zoo was clean and clearly marked. The petting zoo was fun too. And all the staff was friendly! My kids are all older, but I thinknwe will be getting an annual pass, just so we can enjoy this gem again and again, right in our own backyard.

The zoo was amazing, clean the staff perfect. I have a service dog, and they were most accommodating. I wish everyone who came through this area looked closer ..... to the bramble park zoo. You will love the experience.

I think if you live within the area of the zoo, you should check it out because it is a zoo. It does offer interesting and teaching opportunities for yourself and your mini you(s). But it's not a 5 or 4 star because it doesn't offer a lot of animals either they have pasted on or they traded for more less interesting animals in my opinion. But it does host events like zoo boo or free park day. Which gives the local community a chance to see the zoo for free or with extra things like trick or treating. TLDR: Check it out if able, but doesn't have as many interesting animals in my opinion. Try to go during an event for more fun!

Fun place to take our grandson for a couple of hours. Has inside attractions of small animals, fish, and hands on displays. Nice walking path if you have a stroller between all the different animals. Takes an hour or two to see all the displays.

I love the zoo, I really do; but I believe something needs to change. I know they have the mist sprinklers, and that's awesome! But I think a few thing's should change. They should bring back the mining activity. They should definitely have more in the shops, and they should definitely change the animals exhibits. Nothing has changed exhibit wise, as far as improvements should be. I get they love the animals, and take care of them, but everything is super old and needs to be changed. Welfare should be above and beyond in zoos, and this just doesn't cut it. The animals pace, and lay around, because there's not much else to do. The snapping turtle has little to no room to move, as do most animals, but that one is really sad. I have loved this zoo for almost two decades, and I know funds are low. I feel like more items in the shops/etc would help that. I've already bought plaques for my family for the zoo, and I hope there's more options, more varieties to gain income to help fix this zoo. It's still beautiful, still great, but still needs a change starting with more room for the animals.

Kind of expensive for a small zoo, but there are definitely some cool animals and exhibits here. Worth a visit if you are in the area. The otters were so friendly and were having a blast in the fresh snow. We almost had the entire zoo to ourselves on a winter weekend.

This is a really nice, small zoo for an afternoon. We stopped by while passing through the area and the whole family enjoyed it. While it may be small in area, there are plenty of animals to check out and definitely worth the entrance fee. I certainly would stop by again next time we are in the area

I enjoyed this zoo very much! I saw animals I hadn't ever seen before. I was able to get closer to the animals than in some other zoos. I do wish the big cats had a little more room though. Staff working at the zoo were friendly. Restrooms were clean. We were able to walk the entire zoo in about 1.5 hours.

We took our 4 year old grandson and 10 year old granddaughter. We not only enjoyed seeing the animals but they had fun hauling wood in the wheel barrows and playing in the different play areas. There's a lot to see and do!

This zoo was fantastic! We went in the summer, so it was extremely hot, but the zoo was covered in shade on nearly all walking paths. The enclosures were clean, and nearly all the animals were visible. This small zoo holds it's own against any I've ever been to. Definitely worth the trip!

What a great zoo for a small town! Lots to see: kangaroos, bears, tiger, lepord, wolves, monkeys, bison, yaks, prairie dogs, macaws, and other birds, etc. You can get really close to the exhibits, and you can even feed some goats, alpacas, and a miniature horse. It's worth the visit! Took around 2 hours to see it all leisurely.

It was very enjoyable, well laid out, and super fun for kids! They can run and see all the interesting zoo residence. There is a fun park with activities for them to play in, and they can get close to animals they otherwise may never get to. The young girl at the gift center was very kind and polite, and the talking cockatoo was hilarious!
