As
previously
said
by
other
guests,
the
food
is
excellent
in
quality
and
serving
size
for
the
price.
With
that
said,
all
goes
downhill
thereafter.
Upon
arriving
at
the
Google
Maps
location,
you
discover
the
restaurant
is
behind
a
security
gate
at
the
Baguio
Country
Club.
To
enter,
the
guards
require
your
passport
or
other
ID
before
you
can
proceed
to
the
restaurant
located
in
the
country
club.
Once
we
found
Hamada
Restaurant,
we
were
pleased
to
discover
both
teppanyaki
style
and
sit-down
dinners
were
available.
Since
there
were
only
three
of
us,
we
selected
the
sit-down
menu
style
service.
After
being
offered
a
table
next
to
the
kitchen
area
where
one
can
see
the
dirty
dishes
being
taken,
I
requested
a
table
in
a
more
diner
friendly
place.
The
hostess
accepted
my
request
and
sat
us
at
the
table
I
requested.
Once
she
sat
us,
no
further
contact
with
any
employee
occurred
for
10
minutes
-
no
water,
no
greeting,
nothing.
Finally
my
lady
caught
a
waiter's
attention
and
he
stopped
by
to
ask
if
we
needed
anything.
Duh,
how
about
some
service,
water,
drinks
and
maybe
even
food?
During
the
10
minute
wait,
I
was
able
to
peruse
the
entire
menu
several
times
so
I
quickly
answered
his
question
with
a
resounding
"Yes!".
We
then
ordered
the
sashimi
and
sushi
boats
and
sake.
The
presentation
was
nicely
done
with
the
sushi
and
sashimi
being
served
in
cute
wooden
boats.
The
sake
was
also
quite
good.
Since
these
dishes
were
quite
good,
we
then
ordered
the
yakitori
and
the
ebi
tempura
which
also
were
quite
enjoyable.
As
previously
stated,
the
food
was
very
good.
Now
the
reason
for
a
two
rating.
I
DO
NOT
like
to
be
blindsided!!!
When
I
requested
the
bill,
the
waiter,
then
and
only
then,
told
me,
"Sir,
we
have
a
20%
guest
fee
for
non-country
club
members."
This
is
TOTALLY
UNSATISFACTORY
to
blindside
a
guest
with
an
"out
of
the
blue"
charge.
Normally
in
the
US,
I
always
leave
a
20%
tip
so
money
is
not
the
issue.
Hiding
a
fee,
which
is
never
shown
on
their
website
nor
mentioned
at
the
time
you
enter
the
restaurant,
is
an
EXTREMELY
POOR
way
to
treat
your
guests.
Seems
like
they
think
they
are
an
airline.
Anyway,
as
I
exited
I
notified
the
manger
of
my
disapproval
and
told
her
I
would
give
the
restaurant
a
2
rating
because
of
their
service
and
billing.
I
hate
giving
a
2
rating,
but
the
quality
of
the
food
did
not
supersede
the
poor
service
by
the
staff
nor
the
"out
of
the
blue"
charge.
If
you
still
decide
to
go
there
since
the
food
is
quite
good
just
go
knowing
that
you
need
to
access
the
security
gate,
the
service
is
VERY
SLOW
and
if
you
are
not
a
Baguio
Country
Club
member
you
will
be
"stiffed"
for
an
extra
20%
on
your
bill.
Good
luck.
You
will
not
see
me
there
again.
I
would
much
rather
go
to
Gerry's
in
Pacdal
or
to
the
Newtown
Hotel
buffet
on
Wednesday.
Better
food,
better
prices
and
much
nicer
staff........plus
no
20%
hidden
charges.
