The Lion'S Head: One of the most iconic tourist attraction in Baguio that you shouldn't miss! It's along Kennon Road and it's a landmark when entering Baguio City! It's free for all so have fun taking a selfie or groupies with the the beautiful sculpture made of limestone. 👉 PS: You may watch, like, comment and SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube channel 😘 " Arlene Aces "

One of iconic tourist spots of Baguio that you shouldn't miss. During pandemic, it is recommended to strike a deal with your taxi driver to go to and fro here, coz the passing public vehicles are limited. It is not crowded during pandemic compared to before.

On a Saturday it was really crowded and there was a huge traffic jam. The viewpoint on the way to Baguio is much nicer and way less crowded. The lion's head is just what it looks in the pictures. Nothing really impressive and you can take pictures from the car window or park at numerous parking areas nearby.

This is always a worthy stop-over. Everyone should pay homage to this post-modern structure for a bathroom break or a taste of that home-made strawberry ice-cream or to just take a snap of the big lion which i do all the time.

SWAMPED WITH TOURISTS! You cannot miss this gigantic figure once you enter the Kennon Road. If you're riding a private vehicle, you must stop and get few photos and eat strawberry taho as well. But if you're in a public vehicle, you cannot stop for photo op, so better took videos- just like what I did then have it screenshot if needed.

Nice place for stopover before going to city proper via Kennon Road. Make sure your car is in good condition before going to this place.

This is probably one of the first sites you'll stop and look at on your way into Baguio. It's a fun tourist attraction and a good place to get some photo memories. It's a 40 foot tall male lion's head carved into a giant rock formation that has been painted to look like a lion to promote the Lion's Club and the activities they take part in.

Lion 🦁 Head is a symbol of the City of Baguio. It is believed that varied forces of nature have shaped that particular limestone boulder in the resemblance of a lion’s head figure. It measures 12 meters in height. During Luis Lardizabal’s term as Governor the plan to work further on that rock and transform it into the city symbol was conceptualized and pushed through. The construction project began in 1968. Upon its completion in 1972, the monument has become a favorite pictorial site and hangout for tourists. It is said that a visit to Baguio is not completed without a picture at the said attraction. When in July 1990 great intensity earthquake struck major parts of Luzon, the sculpture was also seriously damages. It was restored rather quickly. The statue has undergone several coloration changes before restoring it to acquiring its traditional gold and black color. It was at some points in time painted white and brown, or yellow.

This is one of the landmarks that you will know you are near Baguio City. Located in Camp 6, this landmark signifies the presence of the Lion’s Club International in the City. This can be reached (when you’re coming from Baguio) within 30 minutes. There are also several pasalubong / souvenir stalls in its vicinity.

First tourist destination before Baguio City itself. A Beautiful landmark is now very accessible and there's a big parking space available to accommodate a group of people . Now on its 24/7 operation you can visit the place.

when going up to Baguio, this is the iconic area that much describes it. Other than the head that they abolish. 😄 The place is crowded and parking is limited. There are vendors. Somehow, this place is the cause of traffic when going to Baguio.

If you're coming from the town city of Baguio and you don't have your own vehicle, you can take a jeepney from Otek St. near Burnham Park and tell the driver to drop you off at Lion's Head. But for the return trip, it's a bit challenging to find transportation because there are no jeeps stopping at Lion's Head going back to town. Your only option here is to take a taxi, or you can install the "indrive" app to book a ride, similar to Grab in Manila. You can install it from the app store. It would be much better if you just rent a taxi for both the journey there and back, preferably earlier, so you won't have difficulty commuting back.

Iconic Lion's Head that tells you youre in Baguio already coming from Kennon Road. Hope they open Kennon soon so we don't have to ply Marcos Hiway with those big trucks. Coming from the town proper, there's a checkpoint in fromt of the Kennon Viewpoint, you have to leave your License so they can guarantee that you will come back up and not pass by Kennon to Manila. Not a lot of people coming here these days compared before. Good thing they repainted the Lion, without make up like before!

We visited here at an early dawn. This architecture is symbolic, but I feel like we could have appreciated it more had there been sunlight.

We went there almost 7PM because we were still finishing our activities in the seminar. Truly this iconic, one of the symbols of Baguio City and the rest of the mountain province is something to go to and should be included in the bucket list. It's surroundings is clean and well maintained.

Baguio's iconic Lion's Head is a symbol of welcome and a popular stop for visitors. Towering over the landscape, it offers a fantastic photo opportunity and marks the gateway to the City of Pines. While simple in concept, its significance and picturesque setting make it a memorable part of any Baguio adventure.

Iconic destination in Baguio and a must-stop for anyone travelling here. It’s an unmissable attraction on the side of the mountain/road with plenty of little stalls offering pasalubong/souvenirs. Getting to the location can be a little slow due to traffic and people coming in/out of parking spaces but there is also a dedicated parking area past the lion and the stalls. I first visited as a child and it was so nice to come back.

We dropped by this iconic mark along Kennon Road on the way home from Baguio. The crowd is smaller on a Monday morning but it gets larger during the weekends. There are souvenir shops where you can purchase some goodies for last minute pasalubong. Parking is available. Has a view. It's okay. Iconic mark by the Lion's club.

Lionhead head is one of the known tourist attractions in Baguio. The place is not crowded at all. People are so nice offering to take our photos.

I always preferred previously when it was not painted. Went there off peak and was able to get good shots. Personally, the view from there was more majestic.

Located in the middle of kennon road It's a RISK to visit for now as of 2023 of August, this route going up baguio is prone to landslides, the government is currently rehabilitating not only the roads but also reinforcing the walls of the cliffs.

Since the day i was there, traffic flow is very smooth maybe because of road closed advisory posted before you enter Kennon road coming from Baguio Proper.

Not to detract from this experience, but besides the actual lion's head, nothing much else to do here. Taxied out just to snap a few pics and head back to town. It was just on my list to see again since I was 5yo last time I was here 50 years ago! Worth it since it's free, pretty cool.

The iconic lion's head that for so many years they can't get the color right. A must stop before going to Baguio(or after). Huge parking space now available for 20 pesos. Have your strawberry taho here.

A well known landmark and stop over for tourists traversing the Kennon road before heading to the city of pines (Baguio City) or heading back home from Baguio. The lion's head before was a plain dark colored structure and has been repainted several times with a tint of yellow and orange. So far I think the combination of colors used to paint the lion's head is the best one. The area is much better now it has a wide parking area that is under construction. Many food stalls, souvenir shops and even coffee shop and restaurant are available. Parking area is free, restrooms are available with minimal fee of php5.00 to php10.00. The flock of tourists causes heavy traffic in the area.

Good experience. We're lucky that Kennon road already opened after the earthquake incident this July 2022. None much are affected in Baguio.

When we arrived at the kennon road triage, this was the first landmark we dropped by. There are lots of seller selling strawberry flavored taho. It's really good, you can also ask them to take your picture. ❤️

It is quite far from the city. And as of August 2022 (during our visit) limited people are allowed in the area since the Kennon is no longer used as way going down to Manila. We were the only tourist during our visit, so you do not have to wait that long to take photos

Majestic and steadfast, the Lion's Head gazes upon the winding mountain roads, guarding the gateway to Baguio. A symbol of strength and fortitude, it beckons travelers with a timeless allure, inviting them to embrace the adventure and enchantment that await in this city of dreams.

You can find out that you are fairly close to the summer capital of the Philippines at this location. Lion's Head is better to be visited on Normal Days and you should have your own car or service

Should visit this place! Awesome view!

  • 5/5 Junie T. 1 year ago on Google
The place is good for picture taking. There are store besides the lion head and the store owners are friendly. You can buy flavored taho like strawberry and others. There is also a souvenir shops which the goods are not pricey. Parking are limited on the side and there is a ongoing development for parking area a little bit on the top near the lion head. Hoping they include public toilet in that area. The place is beautiful.
