As per old Maithili stories here Maithili poet known as Mahakavi Vidyapati asked for water to his made servant and when he had given water and he drank the same, he found test the said water exactly like water of river holly Ganga. Then he asked about the identity of his servant by putting pressure and he disclosed his identity as Lord Shiva. So, this is an important place for the followers of Lord Shiva.
