Well maintained concrete tank & a big modern temple are present in this tourist place. Visit nearby Ahalya Asthan too. The Village Brahmpur is noted for the Gautam Kund and a temple of Gautam Rishi, which are located very close to it. According to mythology Lord Brahma appeared before Gautam Rishi at this place after the chastity of his wife, Lord Indra and Chandrama had violated Ahalya. The village derives its name from this occurrence. In regard to the Gautam Kund, it is believed that God Brahma himself created the tank by piercing the earth with seven arrows, so that Gautam might not have to travel a long distance for bathing in the Ganga.

Gautam kund a famous hindu temple.About this place valmiki ji also discussed in Hindu holy book Ramayana. This place also included in ramayana circuit.Maharshi Gautam Rishi was the husband of mata Ahilya.Total seven kund(well)digged inside the pond available here but now only five is available, after Bihar government C.M. Nitish Kumar visiting two were filled with concrete.Every year a fair is organised in the month of Shravan. Many devotees came here to fill jal(water)for religious functions. All basic amenities are available for the devotees. It is situated only 2 km from Narauchh Dham and 7 km from kamtaul railway station, Darbhanga, Bihar.Another famous temple Ahilya asthan also situated only 3km far away from here.

I visited this site on 22 April 2021. This place has many historical importance but the carelessness of Bihar and Indian government can be seen in the attached photographs. It's very sad to know that the place has almost zero tourists.

Gautam Kund was a gurukul of the ancient Indian philosopher Gautama. It is located at the west bank of Khiroi river in Brahmpur village of Jale block of Darbhanga district in Bihar. It is only at a seven kilometres distance from Kamtaul railway station. It is believed that Aksapada Gautama wrote his famous book Nyaya Shastra at this place. There is also a very famous pond known as Gautam Kund, where Gautam Rishi took his bath daily.[2] Aksapada Gautama was the Acharya of the Ancient Mithila University.[3] He taught Nyaya Shastra to his disciples. So this place was also a Gurukul of the Ancient Mithila University. Nearby the ashram, there is Ahilya Sthan related to Ahilya. Ahilya was the wife of Gautam Rishi. Gautam Ashram and Ahilya Sthan have a great importance in the history of ancient Mithila. Now It Needs Renovation.. It could be a wonderful Relgious spot, sadly Facing the fate of Ignorance
