Great place to shop, there is a duty free store and alot of local gift shops. In our opinion this is the best place to go shopping if you want a bang for your buck. One side of the marketplace has restaurants. There is a Cuban cigar store we liked. Prices are about what you would expect to pay for Cuban Cigars. There is a local yogurt shop, it reminded me of Cherry Berry from the US, just a lot more expensive. For two yogurts with limited toppings was over $17.00 which I thought was high. We purchased bug spray from the duty free store, it was around $15. Any toiletry item in our opinion was always high. Towards the back of the marketplace there are small little shops with different local merchandise, we had alot of fun. It was about 10 minutes away from it hotel and costed $26.00 one way per taxi ride. Hope this review helps

Nice place to meet locals and shop. Some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Come with cash. Lots of shops close early so get there during the day for the best experience. Ask the taxi drivers what they will charge to drive you home up front.

Nice large outdoor shopping and restaurant area near a couple extremely large (however closed at the time of our visit) resort hotels. There are several large open areas with seating and live music. As to the straw market stores - look around, there is a lot of imported generic tourist items (hats / shirts / key chains / etc...) however there is a lot of local things mixed in. Take your time and don't feel the need to buy what you see at the first store. This area is for tourists, there is a cruise ship schedule posted for local vendors and there is a presence of local police who walk the marketplace.

Disappointed. All the vendors carry basically the same thing and it’s mediocre quality at best. Some of the jewelry shops are decent enough but still nothing special. Be prepared to haggle about price or they will happily overcharge you. I didn’t try any restaurants and they looked good. All in all I’ve seen better stuff at ABC stores.

The Bahamas is a beautiful location with white sand beaches, warm water, and sunshine. It is a great place for friends and family to visit. The weather is perfect year-round, so it does not matter when you go on vacation. There are many different places to explore such as Port Lucaya Market Place, where there are many different types of things to buy from souvenirs to food. The Bahamas has stunning scenery and the perfect weather all year round. It's a great place for friends or family members to visit because of the white sand beaches and warm water that never gets too hot in the sun. There are many different places to explore such as Port Lucaya Market Place which has souvenirs, food stalls, and other things that you can buy while walking around.

Open air market with usual fare. Clothes, purses, jewelry, candy, eateries and liquor store. Seemed slow considering Carnival cruise ship was in. Check out the tardis. In the US, pay phones are a rarity.

Shop here if you'd like to be pressured to look in the same booths for the same items. There are many booths but everyone seems to sell the same things. There are other shops such as Pandora and other jewelry stores. This is a good place to grab lunch or dinner. There is also a local artist that sells his paintings. He has some of every style, so check those things out!

Let me just say it's cool cause you're in the Bahamas. The shops here are sort of a cross between a small outdoor outlet mall( it sells some high end products like Gucci and gem stones ect) I did not find the brand names any cheaper at all. 300-750 average. Some were more *brand dependent. That being said ,you can find some authentic stuff, like hand carved items: walking sticks , canes and statues. Many shops were selling better quality t shirts and well - made canvase tote bags. The Bahamas is known for straw bags and purses. I thought these were a little expensive hand crafted or not. 60.00 for a bag. There is a gentleman and his son who make excellent conch fritters ,fried shrimp and lobster tail. That was really good. The shopping area itself is still well maintained, clean and is painted in all the bright colors you'd expect in the islands.

They are super nice and fair with their prices. Definitely go to the run runner, great little bar. Big TV karaoke lots of put it on your to-do list when you get to Freeport.

We went to the Port Lucaya Straw Market and it was dead nothing is open and what is open is not worth the time to go look at. What the locals say about this is when casinos left so did the tourists and that caused the business to close down. So if you’re looking for something to do while you’re here I suggest that you check into going to the Bahamas Nassau Islands because there’s absolutely nothing to do here.

It's not what it used to be, but the structure is still intact and doesn't show any signs of going anywhere any time soon. It's a nice place to walk around but other than One or two places are actually worth going. That's saying a lot since a marketplace is supposed to have a multitude of buildings

It was nice. We caught a taxi back to the cruise ship and did a bit of shopping and everyone was so sweet and friendly. The "high pressure" sales were just some very sweet ladies encouraging us to buy, but they were not over the top. We had a great time and found some really good deals on quality tees, hats, and few smaller items.

Port Lucaya was a great place to go walk around, eat & shop. While every place was not open, I had amazing food at Daddy Browns ( Get the Big Girl Special) & Zorbas. I purchased items in Pandora and souvenirs from the locals. We just walked around & then moved onto our next destination.

This was an OK place to shop while visiting. Our last trip here was in 2016 while staying at Memories Resort. Lots of little shops and almost any souvenir imaginable. Even a store for Harley shirts. Those of you who ride know what I mean. We found something for everyone here. Love all the sundresses the locals have.
