There
has
been
a
healthy
change
in
Bahrain
over
the
last
few
years,
the
increase
in
number
of
bibliophiles
and
I
may
add
in
the
number
of
people
participating
in
endurance
sports.
Reading
represents
a
healthy
bent
of
mind.
It
is
a
shelter
from
the
unorganized
mindless
clatter
of
daily
life.
There
was
a
time
when
buying
books
in
Bahrain
was
akin
to
buying
contrabands.
Firstly,
books
were
not
available,
and
the
few
merchants
who
sold
them
along
other
luxury
goods,
sold
them
with
the
same
thought
that
branded
clothes
with
the
brand
name
distastefully
printed
across
them
are
sold.
Buying
books
from
them
felt
ostentatiously
indelicate(
to
put
it
politely).
Their
aim
seemed
to
be
extraction
of
money
at
any
price
rather
than
building
a
clientele.
I
have
visited
Neo
a
few
times
and
have
bought
a
couple
of
books.
Dear
Neo
team,
I
hope
you
maintain
this
small
nook
of
calm
on
the
island.
The
interior
design
reflects
an
insightful
design.
Calm,
soothing,
chic,
but
not
a
tasteless
squander
of
money.
A
counter
,
stacked
with
well
thought
products
greets
the
customer.
The
highlight
is
the
black,
petite
elevator
carefully
snug
in
the
wall,
with
a
stenciled
floor
marker
on
the
wall,
reminiscent
of
Waterstones
on
Goodge
street.
The
books
represent
a
well
curated
collection
covering
a
range
of
subjects.
They
are
not
exactly
cheap,
but
they
are
competitively
priced
in
line
with
international
online
sellers.
A
very
prominent
feature
is
that
some
of
the
employees
actually
seem
to
be
interested
in
what
they
are
doing.
At
other
sellers,
excluding
Virgin,
the
employees
could
be
selling
a
bag
of
potatoes
for
all
they
cared
for.
Going
up
the
stairs
to
the
decently
priced
coffee
shop
is
a
lovely
wooden
platform
for
children
to
sit
and
read.
Thank
you
Neo
team
for
maintaining
this
spot
of
bliss
and
I
pray,
God
Willing
,
that
you
continue
to
do
so.
