Mahakaleshwar is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Shiva. It's a good place to go. The only drawback was that the local authorities have not developed the place well for pilgrimage tourists. There is an e-auto service that drops you near the temple - no charge for the service. However the surrounding area can be much better developed. There are different types of queues leading to the temple - some paid and free. I went to the free queue. It took half an hour to take darshan. Overall it's a good place.

There have been arrangements to handle large crowds. Since it is so hot and people need water frequently, there were multiple place for drinking water. Road outside was so hot, it will burn your foot if stayed more than a minute( minute is also more) Mandir campus is big, you have to walk few hundred meters to enter the campus and take care of small kids. Tip: If you are planning to visit in car then search for Mahakaleshwar Mandir Parking where you can park your vehicle.

Not much of a religious person..but since my childhood always intrigued by the name Ujjain..it’s age..it’s historical significance..do you know the temple dates back to 600 B.C .. that’s how long the temple has been preserved..so ya..for that milestone itself the temple has to be revered ..and also one of the very very few temples where the locality around and inside the temple are extremely neat and well maintained..it took me to a happy place..which is more important.. A must visit place.

Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is one of from twelve Jyotirlingams, shrines which are said to be the most sacred abodes of Lord Shiva. It is situated on the side of the holy river KShipra. The presiding deity, Lord Shiva in the lingam form is believed to be Swayambhu, deriving currents of power (Shakti) from within itself as against the other images and lingams that are ritually established and invested with mantra-shakti. Divine place and very nice place to visit..Bhasmaarti is very special and passes are available..all facilities accommodations and lunches are available...

Mahakaleshwar is One of the 12 jyotirlingas in the country and among the most prominent temples in Ujjain, Mahakaleshwar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The lingam (a symbolic representation of Lord Shiva) at Mahakaleshwar resides in a subterranean chamber and is believed to be swayambhu or self-manifested. The present temple is a five-storey structure and was constructed midway during the 18th century. Built in Bhumija, Chalukya and Maratha styles of architecture, the temple is an architectural marvel. Of note are its marble walkways that were restored in the latter half of the 19th century by the Scindias. Three floors of the building are occupied by lingams of Mahakalesvara, Omkaresvara and Nagachandresvara, respectively. The Nagachandresvara lingam is accessible for devotees only on the occasion of Naga Panchami. There is also a kunda (tank) in the premises called Koti Tirtha that has been built in the sarvatobhadra style. O8n the path from the stairs of the kunda to the temple you will come across several images of the original structure of the temple, reflecting its grandeur during the period of the Paramaras (9th and 14th centuries). Located near Rudra Sagar, the temple holds a special Bhasma Arti for which devotees gather here as early as 4 am. There is an enthusiastic vibe in the air and the lit diyas make for a stunning sight.

Tha way of darshan is very bad policy of trust...in ancient time of Mughals there is jijiya kar for dershan of Hindu gods ..like that in mahakal darshan every person must book 750rs pass, then entry in garbhgruh is allowed which is worst thing...rikshow and pvt transport is also looted money from unknown people on fairs ...other things are best to see in outside of temples like statues and water fountain...

Mahakaleshwar is one of the 12 shiv jyotirlingas. You will find inner peace and divine feeling inside the temple The management is controlled by ujjain municipal Corporation and mandir trust all the things are well managed like cleanliness, security checks, queues, etc additional checks are there during covid. Wearing mask is mandatory and you will have to carry either vaccination certificate or negative rt-pcr report to visit the temple. Temple areal is really vast and there are multiple small temples in the premise. Temple timings are :4:30 am to 10 pm Paid Parking facility for 4 wheelers near harsiddhi mandir - 300mts from Mahakaleshwar temple

Come visit this for the magnificent and divine experience. Temple is usually crowded and it is advised to book tickets in advance for the Bhasma aarti either online or at the temple ticket counter. Temple is very beautiful and well maintained. Things that could be improved is the way they manage the queue and crowd.

Sri Mahakaleshwar of Ujjain is one of the twelve famous Jyotirlingas of India. Jyotirlingas are believed to be swayambhu i.e. it arose by itself.Jyotirlinga is the sacred temple of Lord Shiva; It is believed that Lord Shiva himself visited these places and hence they occupy a special place in the hearts of devotees.Lord Shiva is said to be the lord of time and death. The majesty of the Mahakaleshwar temple is described in detail in various Puranas. Mahakal was considered the only major deity of Ujjain. Lord Shiva in all his glory resides eternally in Ujjain. Among the 12 Jyotirlingas, only the idol of Mahakaleshwar faces South. The temple is located in the historic city Ujjain of Madhya Pradesh, India. The idol of Omkareshwar Shiva is installed on the second floor of the Mahakala temple. The third floor houses the idol of Nagachandreshwar, which is open for darshan only on Naga Panchami. Mahakaleshwar temple is built in Maratha and Chalukya style of architecture. Bhasmarati is held in this temple every day from 4 am to 6 am. Tickets are available online one month in advance to watch Bhasmarati. Offline tickets are also available at the temple a day before. Every day thousands of devotees come to visit the deity. The newly constructed corridor of the temple is also worth a visit. It takes 2 to 3 hours to visit it

The Mahakal Temple in Ujjain is a magnificent and spiritually significant place. Its architectural beauty and historical importance make it a must-visit for anyone interested in Indian culture and religion. The temple's atmosphere is serene, and the devotion of the devotees is palpable, creating a deeply spiritual experience. The daily rituals and ceremonies add to the charm and authenticity of the temple. The temple's location near the sacred river Shipra adds to its allure, making it a tranquil spot for reflection and prayer. Visiting the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the rich tapestry of Hindu traditions and beliefs. It is truly a memorable and soul-stirring experience that lingers in the hearts of visitors long after they leave its hallowed premises.

Queue management was good at start but devolves as you approach the deity. During super busy periods, You will be shoved aside if you wait too long. This is a problem with most famous temples with enormous throughput so not sure what can be done. Ofcourse you can pay for a extended and hands on experience though. Architecture is superb, no doubts about it. Infrastructure around the temple is also good. Overall, a good experience.

One of the Twelve Jyortilings in India. Currently due to Covid darshan till the Lingam is not allowed but you're allowed near upto 10meters. There are touts outside temple, who'll take your shoewear and offer your Prasad. You can easily avoid and go near to entrance instead of walking barefoot for 400-500meters. The aura is calm inside the premises. To watch Mahabhasma Aarti you've pre-book in counter only which opens at morning 4am and is said the tickets sells instantly. Though there is online ticket booking but when I tried it didn't accept after entering details, same was conveyed to me by the Temple Officials.

Recently, I visited Mahakaleshwar, and it stands out as the most awe-inspiring Jyotirlinga I've experienced. The spiritual energy within the temple is unparalleled, creating an atmosphere of pure divinity. The vibrant excitement and the myriad of cultural and religious activities make the visit truly worthwhile. Speaking of Mahakaleshwar, the ongoing Mahakaleshwar Corridor project in Ujjain adds another dimension to this spiritual journey.Speaking of Mahakaleshwar, the ongoing Mahakaleshwar Corridor project in Ujjain adds another dimension to this spiritual journey.

Serene, bliss, energising… no words. One of the places to feel presence of god. Firstly - parking is free. You can park your car in designated areas. Go for early morning darshan. Less crowded. Help beat Covid anxiety due to crowding situation. You can go for free darshan or paid. Paid darshan (INR 250) has minimal queue and takes you right up close to Mahakal darshan. You can but prasad while exiting. Absolutely must visit.

The Mahakaleshwar Temple is an important and scared abode of Lord Shiva. Several tourists flock this shrine from different part of India and the world. The temple is one of the twelve’ Jyotirlingams’ in the country and is also revered by Hindu devotees.

Mahakaleshwar is a place of peace, my birth city, the city of Lord shiva, absolutely divine & soothing. It was very crowded on Sunday (that's the day I went there). We sat by "The Kund" and fed the fish there, Went to the temple and did our prayers It is very well managed and clean from hygiene point of view

Good place. Pretty well maintained and darshan happens quite nicely if you go via paid route. Photos are not allowed but there is no enforcement. Decent and very helpful people outside as well as inside the temple.

I visited this month to see the difference between old corridor and the new one. It's really amazing to see the difference. Everything getting streamlined and we feel that we are visiting a world most ancient temple. Excellent modern sculptures explaining Shiva Puran story.

It's a spiritual place of Mahakal Bhagwan Shiva. Good clean place and well maintained. A few parts of the temple were under construction and I hope in the next 2-3 months it will be completed. This is one of the jyotirlinga out of 12. Everyone has to visit there once in his/her life for the blessings of God Shiva.

Mahakal Jyotirlinga Mandir is at Ujjain. This temple has its unique significance and is situated in the middle of city. Whenever you are in Ujjain, you can visit and take blessings. Moreover, it’s a beautiful temple. There is a huge space in the temple vicinity to take a tour of all the idols and they are really beautiful. The lights are so bright and in the evening it looks amazing.

This sacred temple of mahakal has a different aura and vibe. The holy land of lord Shiva portrays his form of mahakal. One can visit the land anytime of the year (Shravan Maas and mahashivratri at your own risk ). The place may or may not be crowded depending upon the occasion day etc. The most favourable days for visiting the temple are the week days, because weekends - sat, sun and Monday are the busiest days of the week. One can book tickets in advance or from the counter depending upon the crowd.

The Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga in Ujjain is a deeply revered pilgrimage site for devotees of Lord Shiva. Its historical significance and spiritual aura make it a must-visit destination for those seeking divine connection. The temple's striking architecture and intricate carvings showcase the rich cultural heritage of the region. The sacredness of the place is palpable, especially during the Bhasma Aarti, a unique ritual that leaves a lasting impression. However, due to its popularity, the temple can get quite crowded, leading to longer wait times for darshan. The city of Ujjain itself adds to the experience, offering a blend of religious fervor and cultural exploration. Despite the potential crowds, a visit to Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is a spiritually enriching journey that allows one to immerse themselves in devotion and tradition.

It was a wonderful experience to visit the temple and corridor. I like the crowd over there and the different temples and its design and sculptures. There are many big sculptures in the corridor which were amazing to watch at night. I recommend visiting this around 6'o clock in the evening. First visit the temples and then head towards the corridor.
